When the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety released its interim report in 2019 it titled the report 'Neglect'. It outlined failings within the industry that impacted on the delivery of safe and effective care and noted that in many instances, the systems in place across the industry resulted in a 'shocking tale of neglect'. As an industry and a nation we are taking the recommendations of the report seriously and as a result are in the midst of reforms. But at the support worker level, what does neglect include, what do you need to be looking out for, how can you support each individual appropriately so they are not neglected?
