I didn't hear you say anything about the GMC Sierra GT. They didn't make very many of them I have a 94 black 4 wheel drive. Just turnned 217,000 miles. I just had the transmission rebuilt. Outstanding truck.
If you have the 2.4L....Yes it's good, until your oil pan start leaking. I know it sounds easy, and it should. But engineers really did screw that one up. If you curious look it up on youTube. See if anyone ever attempt it. LOL.
3:59 As a hot rod project I would like to buy a 2013 with the standard bed, and then purchase the short bed from the crew max, shorten the frame, and then put the really short bed on the regular cab truck. It would look like a giant Matchbox car and it would be a hit at cars and coffee.
3:01 On the subject of specifications and measurements, someone told me that there is a thing called the “Tundra Slouch”, which means that when you look at the truck from in back, when the truck is empty, the driver’s side sits 5/8 of an inch higher than the passenger side. This is to accommodate the many men who drive their work truck by themselves. Toyota studied the demographics of the average work truck user and apparently the 5/8” inch is just enough so that when he is sitting in the driver seat, the truck is level from left to right. You should have seen me after I finished replacing shock absorbers and doing some other rear suspension adjustments. As I was looking at the truck standing way back at the rear, I did notice that the driver side sat a bit higher. I did not know about the “Tundra Slouch” until I called someone and they confirmed that this is built into the truck by design.
OK, let me stir up the monkeys. The 4.6 L V8 uses a cast-iron block and the 5.7 uses an aluminum block. Common sense tells me that cast-iron will outlast aluminum. Your thoughts? I know the 5.7 L V8 is a great engine. There is an website devoted to just engine specifications worldwide and from researching this I know that the 4.6 L engine is heavier than the 5.7 L engine. I also heard that the six speed transmission used on the 5.7 L V8 engine is a more durable transmission than the one used with the 4.6 L V8 engine. Is this true?
2:47 I understand why marketplace pressure caused Toyota to make the grill wider and more angry looking, but I still prefer the 2007 to 2013 look better. This is usually the case with vehicles - the first generation has the most pure design language.
ABSOLUTELY- I purchased a 1995 1500 sierra c with 83,000 in 2008.Fleet truck for a cable tv company. Current mileage 325,000- never have had the heads off. Paid $8,000 cash. Best vehicle Ive ever had😊😊😊😊
The one thing nobody mentions in these kinds of vids is: The Tundra is a very difficult truck to work on. That means it will frustrate you until you take it to a mechanic. The mechanic is simply going to charge you for all the time it takes for him to turn the wrench. Go ahead ... take the starter out (or the alternator) by yourself. Everything you try to do requires 3 or 4 additional efforts just to touch it. Break a plastic clip and see how much that's gonna cost ya. My last 4 amounted to a $72 expense and I couldn't get 'em off with snapping them. Go ahead ... break one of those electrical clips and see how many hours that's gonna set you back. If you look and listen there are bunches of Toyota service techs who'll tell you it's all by design. If you ask the right questions, people at (any) dealership will tell you no one's making money off the sales price of the vehicle. All the profit's being made at the service center.
When I was in the army I had a cheyenne super 20 camper special 4x4 with a 454 v8. Homemade steel bumpers. It's currently buried in Peyton colorado. We gave it a funeral. My buddy's used to say all we need to do is drop daigle and his truck in to iraq and the Iraqis would surrender in a week.
The 4x4 break the shackle on the front leaf spring. Also lose the manual fuel pump the rubber diafram breaks and let's oil and gas mix in the oil pan. Install an electric fuel pump inline in the frame.
Hello I have an 09, that i just got from a family member, the battery light on dash is on, I took it to the auto parts store and the alternator and battery tested good????? I have no idea where to go from there. also, the brake light is on in the dash, the fluid is full .......not sure what else to check thank you for any and all help or suggestions. does/has anyone had the same issues? thanks
Heck yeah! All of them are great. The afm/dod stuff needs more attention, though, and the torque converters need to be beefier for those trucks that have that. I'm a gmt800 owner. 01 3500 dually 6.0l, 4L80e, 4.10 gears. Best truck i've ever owned!
Just got one had a bunchhh of major issues with it having 310,000 miles I didn’t want it to die now after a new exghust system ignition timing chain set rear main seal oil pan gaskets thermostat amd thermostat housing radiator a few fuel lines a mass air flow season amd a o2 Sesor it’s running great now hoping it stays that way
I'm going to buy a used Frontier. I guess I'm coming full circle, my first brand new truck was a 1986 Nissan long bed. This was, I think, the last year before the hard body. Put 120,000 rough city miles on it, often hauling loads heavier than it was rated for. Never a problem. But I hated the bloated look of the hard body and bought one Mitsubishi and then a string of Rangers. Never liked any of them as much as that Nissan.
I own a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT, 4.7l engine. Has almost 160,000 miles. I’ve driven it for 22 years and keep in near immaculate mechanical condition. I used to do most of the work myself but due to age and some health problems, I turn it over to my mechanic shop. My mechanic has taken care of it since around 2013, and anything that needs repair or service gets it. Had it repainted in 2019 due to paint age and some body work needed to be done. It is a work truck and daily driver, and has hauled most everything you can think of. Over the 22 years I’ve owned it, I’ve put about $15,000 into it of repairs and tires. My mechanic told me don’t buy a new Ram because they’re not built like mine is. I’ve pulled trailers, even pulled tree and brush stumps out with it. It will still be running when I’m not around anymore. My big decision will be who do I will it to?
There is another model that you did not mention, it is a ZM-6 Off Road. I have one, it is a 94 model equipped the same as the ZR-2 with the exception of the extra width
I have an 07 I bought new. It is a no frills truck except for a/c. With what I see and here about trucks today I will be driving it a lot longer. I change the oil regularly, changed the ATF and filter at 850000 and did the brakes. It is cheap on gas and dependable, what else does a 73 year old man need.
I looked at a 2019 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X (A5) 4x4 Crew Cab 4.75 ft box. With 55,000 kms asking $32,250. I wondered if in 2019 if this trucks price in 2019 was or close to the $32,250 they are asking for it used.
I want to cry when I see a clean SE-V6 king cab. I have a wife and a 3yr old toddler, he cant sit in the back because it’s not safe for his age so I can’t own this truck, but I want it so bad 😭
Merc 320CDI V6 2006 : lovley car centre console switches a bit flimsy V6 diesel extremely smooth quiet & fast Roomy compfy interior Long distance cruiser Only reoccurring prob is limp mode which is turbo related Last of what an elegant Merc should look like Now is the time to buy!
Just became the proud owner of my grandfathers 94 se he bought it new. 174k miles interior is amazing exterior only scratches. Been in love with her since I was 14 and he finally let me have her. Hopefully I can keep it as nice as pa has.
1992 5.7 K2500 Sierra SLE in 2 tone blue. 2nd owner under 100k miles, no rust. He must have babyed this truck built in Oshawa plant Canada. Light bulbs are even stamped 1992!! No way a new truck will last as well in 32 years!
Bought my 96 XJ new and have driven it on many off road trips in Death Valley, Moab, Canyon Lands and all over mostly the West. Has 223,000 driven miles and another 150,000+ towed by my RV. Original engine and drive train. Love this car!
Very nice, should of painted the original reflector black and opted for the drl halo would of looked sweet but thanks for sharing, I'm new to doing projector retrofit so I'm out fishing for any advice and knowledge to help my retrofit go smooth cheers good job
Love my 91 stepside. Been in my family since new. Bought it off my grandfather for 4k 10 years ago. Still hate the redesigned interior. Squared off dash looks so much better in these trucks
If anyone has an issue with the brake lights staying on, before running to the dealership, look under the dash, with a mirror if needed, I found that it's possible to misalign the switch by inadvertantly hitting it with my foot, give the switch a nudge back into alignment to solve the problem
