Travis, I have been working for 8 years now in web development and you were one of the most influencial people for me on how to approach css and how not to be scared about javascript or the terminal. Glad to see you back, dude. Greeting from a mexican lving in Helsinki.
Thanks again for explaining the thing with the index.js files. Actually, tried it today. I think this is what I've been missing. I've recently moved to use path resolution but was still not happy with how many files import statements I would need to keep track of in some of my projects. I like that I can now use a single import. Another benefit I see is when renaming a file, I will need to update the path in one file instead of across the project.
We had a request to share out the Google slides that I showcased in the livestream today. Open this link and then use file > copy to save this deck to your own Google drive. docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ye1U4L5VbFK8h7O_rLfJf1R_VvylE4w_K-kpZ7DGf1Q/edit?usp=sharing
The myth, the legend, the one and only back on DevTips. I remember when I was still designing wanting to learn frontend and I just found this place. How things have changed since then. Great to have you back Trav, so much love <3
Coming form the Odin Project here. Only 1 week in but working strong and trying my best. Good luck y'all. Hope to be able to answer others questions in the future once I've learned a bit more :)
No hard feelings against you, but definitely against Apple.... When you said "mouse from the future or something".... Do you truly think the mouse from the future should block us from working when it's out of charge? And it demands one to 'F' it up from the bottom and be stuck for as long as it takes to charge. Apple design is mostly just a hyped up marketing of visual aesthetics and with not enough functional value.
@@OfficialDevTips I didn't expected an answer, but because u did, I want to thank you. Actually, finding your Portfolio website series helped me a lot (in a very difficult period in my life) when I started my career as a FrontEnd Dev. Everything I watched in this channel was like an engine pushing me forward! Tons of respect for everything you do, Im happy to see you back on board! 🙏
I currently trying to get my social media content back to mostly be displayed in a chronological order. On RU-vid, disabling the recording of the history of videos you've watched helps pretty well with that. Otherwise, this is one aspect I really like about Mastodon, which is also using a chronological timeline. I think it is pretty nice to have more control about your feed, but of course it also demanding more from you as a user to curate your feed yourself. Also, the discovery of new content is of course a bit restrained this way - however, you could also argue that you discover new stuff more organically this way again.
Thank you for the wisdom and insights :) Great that you're back! Had to think about your tutorials the other day that really inspired me when it comes to webdesign back in 2016 (and they still do today).
Inspirational podcast. Travis, I struggle with sharing my work and can empathize. I think this is a blueprint on how to overcome those feelings. Sometimes valuable lessons completely miss the masses, but I am certain it will resonate with us who never put themselves out there but want to...
Bumblebee, great podcast chat! Those were the days for searching for that underground artist or band you heard of on college radio and coming up empty finding that album at the local popular record store in the mall.
Yessss, those were the days. I feel like my kids have their own version of that with streaming. Not the same. Maybe to me less magical, but that's probably just nostalgia talking. 🥹
