If yall are so f*cking obsessed with “products of the time” then stop using the damn internet. Go back to busted old cars or walking. Go use the “products of the time” or just admit it’s time to let sh*t go before it becomes a product of OUR time too. Racism should be taught, but POC kids should not have to experience it for white kids to learn about it. Feature two versions of the film. The uncut to assure that people know you aren’t erasing the mistakes but feature a commentary and a cut version so children can actually f-cking watch it.
Since you decided to call libs “cretins” example to me why it’s republican idiots that still teach Manifest Destiny as a good thing or that Thanksgiving was peaceful. Cause THAT is erasing.
You know instead of removing her completely they should’ve made her white if they are uncomfortable with her skin. And also they should’ve made her white in the first place u know
Funny because I was watching old episodes of Arthur, and they interview kids between scenes and there was a little Black girl that looked exactly like that, same hair style and all. Stereotypes are based on reality not the other way around
@@lara2937 There is nothing wrong with this. Minstrel shows is a part of USA history. It happened, it's not longer happening, but this scene is a reflection of a time of our past. We should use history to move us forward instead of trying to erase the past. The more you erase the more we forget and history will repeat itself. My point still remains that people like you are OK with slavery on film as long as they are white. That is the worst thing you can do to our past, present, and future.
I remember there being a beautiful black centaur lady with a zebra body? Did I make that up? I thought that was cool as a kid cause zebras were African
Sorry but absolute BS....why would anyone put themselves through an ordeal like that? Even if it cost him hour's to go the opposite way then do it...or call the local police etcetera this movie ALWAYS used to wind me up so much because the idea is ridiculous in the extreme!!!
The side view of Yoda is cool like those UK puppet shows on TV and his mouth moves kind of cool too. But they really needed to use a CGI Yoda for the fight scenes.
Yes, this is definitely picturing racism, but honestly at the time this was how things were. I think they shouldn’t have censored it. Kids should see this and KNOW it was and IS very very wrong, but my question is: if they never know about it, what will happen in the future? Will racism begin to be just as bad as it was in the 1950’s?
@@bagibleepThey should know and investigate that they come from a race that was once a slave but fought for their rights and are now free. Their origins should not be hidden from them.
@@arturo5715 they already know through life that screams racism at them daily. they know through their family history that ISN'T that old and technically not over. slavery is still legal in the US per the 13th amendment under 'punishment.' Black Americans DON'T NEED REMINDING.
African Americans are not the only ethnic group, nor the most important. What you say is denying history for other ethnic groups, that is maintaining ignorance of the events of humanity and only imposing to think like you. They are not the only ethnic group that has suffered and not everything is about the USA.
@@arturo5715 you specifically replied to my comment about Black people needing to know their history. I told you they do. You changed the goalpost. Nobody is saying nobody should see this content ever. My point was that there should be censored versions for kids to watch and uncensored for the adults. Disney+ has the edited version because it’s primarily an app for kids. RU-vid has the uncensored version because it’s more intended for adults. It’s not that difficult to understand.
I read somewhere in a behind the scenes interview, Carey Loftin who was the truck driver mentioned that Dennis weaver was one of his favourite actors and that he said it was an honour and a privilege to work with Dennis weaver in this movie.
Sunflower: Yo! Anyone home? Otika: Heya! What's up, Sunflower? Sunflower: Just dropped by to see what's new. Anything exciting happening around here? Otika: Not much, just the usual. How about you? Got any adventures to share? Sunflower: Oh, you know me, always finding some trouble to get into. Just yesterday, I helped out with a garden party-lots of fun! Otika: That sounds amazing! I wish I could have been there. Got any pics? Sunflower: I do, actually! Check these out. (shows pictures) Otika: Wow, these are beautiful! You really know how to light up a place. Sunflower: Thanks, Otika. We should plan something together soon. Otika: Definitely! Let’s brainstorm some ideas. How about a summer picnic? Sunflower: Perfect! I’ll bring the sunflowers, you bring the snacks. Brutus: Mind if we tag along, girls? Melinda: Yeah, we love picnics! Otika: Of course, Brutus and Melinda! The more, the merrier. Sunflower: Absolutely! Brutus, you can handle the drinks, and Melinda, how about you bring some desserts? Brutus: Drinks, got it. I’ll make sure we have a variety. Melinda: Desserts are my specialty. This is going to be so much fun! Otika: Can’t wait! Let’s set a date and make this the best picnic ever. Sunflower: Agreed! How about this weekend? Brutus: Works for me. Melinda: Same here! Looking forward to it.
One of the few times I'm glad they censored something. If they had made some of the centaurs black, not counting Dionisys' zebra gals, as well and not made her a goddamn donkey when all of the white girls are proper horses... Jeez. It marrs and otherwise fantastic segment
I think the High Council (with all of it's political cares) didn't trust enough Qui Gon Jin and Obi Wan Kenobi to reveal them the deepest secrets of The Jedi Order. They already know. And is because of it that Yoda says "hard to see the dark is...". Maybe, Yoda is talking and warning against Jedi hubris.
Ki Adi Mundi is confirmed dark side. Lies about his age, the appearance of a sith 100 years prior, and hides info about jedi masters being murdered from the jedi council. "Hard to see the dark side is" indeed. Can't believe this deception has gone on for decades without us figuring out until now!

@@SerginhoPMoura of course they hadn’t! - the Jedi just didn’t know about them!… darth sidioius’s master was darth Plagueis… his master was Darth Tenebrous etc etc going back to Darth bane!… there has always been sith!
It’s Spielberg’s first directorial debut for university project, wasn’t it? Based on Richard Matheson’s short story which actually happened to the author coming home from golf tournament when he was being tailgated by big truck. He arrived home and wrote the story.
An often uncommented on mark of Spielberg's genius is that he used several cameras for this scene, but for the crash he took only the best footage from one camera. No cuts, no edits, just one continuous shot of the truck crashing down the cliff. Other directors would have tried to boggle our minds by making rapid cuts to different angles. With this, Spielberg let us watch as if we were there, making the scene far more effective.
