I wonder how much from the house Mike brought along with him when he left America. From all the stuff, I hope he brought along the picture of him shaking hands with Obama. That would be cool to show to Tandy and Carol's kids.
This scene should've been kept in the final cut. It really explains a lot about MJ as a character, and would've really changed people's perceptions of her (not that their perceptions weren't already wrong to begin with). It really hammers home how she has her own arc and development to go through alongside Peter, and also makes it clear that flawed person =/= bad character
This scene has stuck with me ever since I first heard it many years ago. Best description of what love should be and feel like, that I’ve ever heard. I feel this way about my girlfriend and I think she feels the same except for the last part. I don’t magically take away all the grief and pain she’s ever had and that makes me really sad. For many reasons obviously, but the one I’m talking about rn is that she makes up for all MY trauma effortlessly. And this makes me feel like maybe I’m not enough for her. I’m currently rewatching this movie because I do so whenever I feel lost and like life is kicking me while I’m down. It’s such a comfort movie. And this is an amazing scene that shouldve been kept
They shouldve kept that scene. The whole time they made us think harry was an inlogical jerk who wouldnt let go of his fathers grief. But here it makes more detailed sense in why he still feels such loss
Despite Harry really hating spiderman he really did love Peter. He exploded against him many times sure but he always apologized or justified peter sooner or later. Even after slapping him at the party, he tells Otto not to hurt Peter.
Okay this scene explains so much and I’ll admit it shouldn’t have been deleted But, read along, if Sam Raimi believed in her acting then we got this plenty of times in the theatrical cut. The whole time we know Mary Jane still loves Peter, she gets disappointed when he doesn’t show on time, then contrasted when she actually does see him there. Also she believes that Peter will never open up to him an even at the end of Spider-Man she felt that she kissed the same person after confessing to Peter. Even in a later scene in Spider-Man 2 she tries to replicate her upside down kiss with John And knew that she needed to talk to Peter once again.
MJ really is a petty person with daddy issues. People have priorities and they do care about her. Peter doesn’t deserve to be treated like that. He busts his ass delivering pizzas, taking pictures, going to class, and being a masked vigilante. Aside from being Spider-Man, Peter Parker has a very busy schedule especially in New York. MJ has no idea how difficult it is having real problems and how exhausting that can be when she is a Broadway star and doesn’t care about other people’s circumstances. It’s bullshit that she treated Peter the way she should be treating her father. Being dirt poor in NYC sucks and Spider-Man is the cherry on top.
It's a nice scene but it wasn't needed in the film. The scene with MJ and John on the couch says all you need to know about her relationship with him. Adding this scene in the film would have made the couch scene less impactful as the audience would have already known that MJ's feelings for John were bland. In the theatrical cut we discover MJ's true feelings for John at the same moment she does, right after they kiss. A wise move on Raimi.
Not necessary, this scene not also show MJ is tricking herself to thinking she’s in love with Jameson just to fill in the void of getting over her feelings about Peter but it also show she only getting married to prove her father wrong about a man never going to fall in love with her.
They should have kept this in. It would've explained why John Jameson was such an empty character. He just isn't a perfect fit for Mary Jane and she doesn't even know very much about him other than being an astronaut.
Honestly this scene is perfect, but even without it (though flimsier) MJ still has reasonable motivations. It's clear with how she reacted at John's party to Peter that she didn't just feel heartbroken but BETRAYED that Peter of all people, the person that made her believe she could be more than her upbringing, that she could have a hopeful future, that she didn't have to be stuck with men she had no spark with...and the person that left her at Harry's Father's funeral to coast along wondering why was he treating her like nothing now, could not put in the effort that others have with their friendship...it strikes me less as she wanted to manipulate him into giving her what she wanted, and more as she felt that she had to settle for John when he was good enough compared to Peter. And as is while this take is SO much stronger it doesn't CRIPPLE Spider-Man 2 as a story. The takes against MJ are overblown and harsh compared to the takes that other characters get.
