Not only is this rom hack the most faithful one I’ve seen to the gameplay of DKC 1-3, the music is as faithful as I’ve heard from David Wise from the originals as well. This is a masterclass is rom hacking 😍 Kaizo Mario may get all of the press for being ridiculous, but this could have been an actual retail game, and we all would have been 100% in love with it!
I love the content you upload man. Ive been going through alot and i was super happy to see this upload. Everybody working on this project is talented and it should never be underestimated
Even when the level looks beautiful, I would like to say that the dificulty is pretty inconsistent, it starts being hell but then it goes chill, I'd reduce the difficulty at the start and increase it at the end of the level I really like this project, I really hope it outcomes well
I had a little inspiration from Christian aesthetics, as it is in the clouds and has representations of angel statues, but I didn't want it to be explicit, so I mixed a little bit of every cliché thing that represents heaven. But there is no other reason other than aesthetics, I don't want to involve religion in the game.
Gostei do fundo parallax mostrando a floresta escura e o céu estrelado.
This is going to sound like BS, and I don't blame anyone for thinking that... but my one and only complaint with these levels is the insane mixture of enemies from the three different games. Some of the enemy placement/themes make sense... others dont... I think they should stick to 3-4 enemy types per custom map to help adhere to a more cohesive theme. Just my bs take from someone who has never designed a custom map in these games before😅
Looks fantastic! One small detail that leaves me particularly impressed is the flickering lights illuminating planks of wood behind/around them; did you create that asset, or was it from a game and I just forgot about it?
Beautiful - one small suggestion, when the music gets intense, it is a bit too loud with too much treble, maybe dial it down. But this is an amazing body of work, keep going, I want to buy it!!
I think my favourite aspect of this project is how it combines a range of different foreground and background elements. In DKC tilesets where pretty detailed so you didn't see too much variety in the levels they were used. In this project however can see wooden decking followed by lush grassy hills you traverse. Feels very much like how the series could of been if it did get that " 4th " classic installment.
