Ranjan and Andrew needs to get their numbers right: 3% of £250,000 is £7,5000 not £700 and I think Ranjan meant Norman Osborns 3% surcharge generated £2.6 billion not £2.6million pounds in tax. Ho hum!

If you ask me the Title needs editing SDLT hurts rents and rental supply everywhere!! Unless you are implying that some landlords don't pass on the costs.
And don't forget the eye watering fees that the auction houses charge to buy at auction, now nearing 4%. It's not surprising many recent auctions have hundreds of unsold lots.
