Hello!

Welcome to Edible Thoughts Makes where I share works in progress, finished projects, new recipes (as well as those tried and true), books, and more! Aiming for a few episodes each month that may range from updates of a 5-10 minutes to full shenanigans up to an hour (aiming for 30-45 minutes). I invite you to be inspired and to inspire others. I am inspired by color, nature, personal narratives, and everyday life.

Cheers to creativity!

This is great! I don’t have my yarn wound so that I can pull from the middle. Am I right to think that I can instead use yarn from two balls? (Casting on for a Half&Half Triangle wrap.) 😊

Very interesting food for thought section. English isn’t my first language so I try to find the exact word to describe things and thoughts but be clear with the people I speak with. Sometimes people say we do not say that and employ a very generic word. So I am quite happy to hear about the importance of description to describe objects we can’t touch , see by ourselves and feel between hands!

Tip on knitting flat for better gauge: Most people have a looser purl gauge so when knitting the purl side go down 1 needle size from your knit side. Try a swatch and see if it improves the evenness.
@EdibleThoughtsMakes
@EdibleThoughtsMakes 23 дня назад
I don’t have a looser gauge purling is what I was saying. The uneven tension is apparent randomly, not just on purl rows.

Your pinafore dress turned out great! I’m a huge fan of Robert Kaufman Essex fabrics. I’ve used it for so many projects. It’s just quality fabric that is timeless. ❤

Your gingham dress looks so lovely for the summer months. On the washed linen you wondered about ironing before cutting. The best rule of thumb for any fabric is to wash/dry/iron it as you would the finished garment. That way you get the most accurate fit. Obviously, if there are wrinkles that would hinder the cutting/sewing process gently press those out if you don’t intend to iron the finished garment. HTH. 😊
@EdibleThoughtsMakes
@EdibleThoughtsMakes 23 дня назад
Thank you! I always wash/dry/iron fabric before sewing. This particular fabric was just extra crinkly to begin with and after wash/dry/iron.

So after seeing this video, I decided I also wanted to skip the German short, rows on the front of the sweater, but I’m not sure from the instructions where to start the next step. I completed the German short, rows for the back of the sweater, and I’m ready to go to the front of the yoke. Can you share that information with me please?
@EdibleThoughtsMakes
@EdibleThoughtsMakes 25 дней назад
@@LDunn-kb3po For round one of section three, knit a rnd to resolve the double stitches. There won’t have a center front marker to remove because the front short rows were skipped. Continue with round two as written.

I love your detailed video. You are clever. I love all of your sweaters. Which yarn do you suggest for a very warm climate?
@EdibleThoughtsMakes
@EdibleThoughtsMakes 3 дня назад
Thank you! That’s really up to you to experiment! How warm someone feels and tolerance for heat is so subjective. That being said I would recommend yarns with plant fiber options! Or maybe try something that results in a looser fabric for more air flow.

I also get my glasses caught on my clothes! Have to put them on in the morning to make coffee etc and then by the time I'm dressing for work I forget they're already on my face 😅I was spinning as I watched this episode, but you've inspired me to make some tank tops with some of the MANY skeins of beautiful handdyed sock yarn I own, so I am scheming up some plans for those once I finish my current knits.

Thank you for sharing your lovely projects as always, and hope you're continuing to have a lovely summer! I can definitely relate to getting my clothing stuck on my glasses - even after wearing glasses for almost 3 decades, I still do things like get them stuck when pulling on a shirt, or accidentally flinging them off when pulling off a shirt 😅

Thank you so much!! Right??? I’ve been wearing glasses since 2nd grade. I think what it is, is that once I put them on in the morning, they don’t come off until I go to sleep. So essentially they’re part of my face during the day and I just forget they’re there 😂 😅 🤓.

What a fun collection you’ve made. I have a tip for you on cutting out rayon… Get a small rotary (I like the 10mm) and as you are cutting place an acrylic ruler (like a quilting ruler) along the edge of the pattern. It will keep your fabric from shifting and will give you much better precision. You can also do a heavy starching to the fabric before you start cutting which will help too. Thanks for sharing this video. I really enjoyed it. 😊
