Be careful with the front pipe. I’d say get headers first and see how you like the sound. On the first Gen it’s a fact that you should just leave the front pipe. As removing that will make a lot of rasp and noise. There are good ones like double res hks but very expensive for little benefit. Good choice on the catback tho, looking at getting the HKS single exit for my 86. :)
@@juice885 Quality definitely better as HKS is hand made in Japan. Tomei I believe is now made in Taiwan or something. Sound wise, like I said it's a sophisticated tone but it's not loud. Tomei will be very loud as it's titanium and they have no mufflers 😅

Just subscribed picked up a STI hatch will look thru your channel see what I can learn ! What was the specs for wheels and tires ? would they be different for an STi ? What was your suspension set up too ? Thanks man
@@hijodeangelitos Thanks mate I have videos on all of that. Wheels are 18x9.5+38 and ran 265/35 tyres for a long time with no issues. Coilovers by MCA suspension (the best to ever do it).
Zed not zee. I've got a 2018 ts, Perrin CAI with a K&N filter, HKS uel headers, overpipe and spec L II cat back, with an SME catted and resonated frontpipe. Got the headers to the front pipe cat ceramic coated in black. Sounds excellent. The catback on its own wasn't that great whilst waiting on the rest of the parts though.
This is awesome mate, was thinking about this catback until carmods australia brought out the borla -s type and atak and im now getting the atak. I can't wait!
this car by far the easiest when it comes to changing the exhaust system. Car sounds amazing bro, now I miss my BRZ though we had an issue with the coilovers before hahaha
Jacks and stands. Double security. You absolute chad. I was taught that by my old man. Thanks for this mate. I have this, the fujitsubo a-r, and the invidia R400 on my list. HKS dual resonated front pipe and jdl catted headers probably happening later. I hate that high frequency p-plater rasp and the cat in the headers coupled with the resonators seems to nullify this. Low to mid frequencies is what I want.
I‘m 186 cm tall and I felt like a giant trying to get into the car. Once in it, I felt the most claustrophobic of any cars ever and my head was almost hitting the roofline. This and the cheap feeling, thin doors put me off right away. I am actually glad that I drive a „normal“ station wagon with air and room to spare. I really don’t understand the Toyota hype. All the models are made cheap and thin: the plastics, the metal parts… everything feels fragile and flimsy.
You mentioned being slightly concerned about the tips being a little close to the top of the cutouts, has that caused any issues for you so far? I’m really thinking about pulling the trigger on buying this exhaust for my gr86 but I want to be able to run it hard on the track without having to deal with temps getting too hot and melting my bumper.

@@e.jopling01 no worries man. If you plan on getting the rest of the exhaust and headers it will make it quite loud just remember that because there's literally no muffler 😅
You need to tighten the nut at the top of the coilover. Make sure that it's a pass-through wrench and then keep the center portion for moving while turning the outer nut
I haven't done a decibel test but as I say in my video its loud of startup and has a little grunt between 2-3k rpm. Its quiet on the highway around 2.5-3k rpm
