We are two slow in midfield, apart from the flanks they were also cutting through us down the middle. A quick reducer/defensive midfielder would help this team .

Personally I don’t believe we will see them together unless we start to defend a comfortable lead. I cannot see which formation and player selection Lopetegui could use to accommodate both Alvarez and Rodriguez together in midfield, only if injuries meant Alvarez slips into a back three.

Some promising signs with the new playstyle, Guido looked like he is going to help us a lot, Coufal, Soucek and Mavro looked like they are not going to fit with the style, work to be done and lets see once the new signings get into the team but i think we can have fun this season
You've taken words out of my mouth. I've been supporting the super hammers since 1969 and I 've never felt so excited and optimistic at start of a season.
When you bring in a new coach and so many new players, odds are we'll be better in the 2nd half of the season. So if we can be top 7 or 8 by Christmas, that sets us up really well. Not sure what to expect today. A lot of the new lads have barely trained with us. Style of play is what I'm more looking for today. My advice to everybody is to drink heavily.
I'd prefer to see Fullkrug start and bring in Antonio at 65-70 minutes. I'm torn with the midfield, b/c I really want to see Kudus centrally. Lopetegui should have some great sub options which he can deploy differently depending if we're chasing the game or leading.
I would have the same apart fromr aguerd because of the pace from villa 2 1 for first game in prem for a new centre back and so excited for this season

@@DirectDemocrat I think I might of worded it wrong, more training with teammates before starting a match. I remember Moyes did this with Kudus. I also remember the year when we did buy a lot of foreign players, who weren't used to the premiership, West Ham struggled and finished 14th. Btw I have no doubt Todibo will be an immense player.
