Like all good Cafés the Motorcycle Café menu has plenty of variety. The channel includes pretty much anything motorcycle related, from well researched motorcycle documentaries to information on road bike maintenance, bike trailers, trikes and sidecars plus some other non-serious videos just for a bit of fun! I try my best to reply to as many comments as humanly possible however insulting, derogatory, political or comments not relating to the actual video subject will be removed, so please don't waste your time! If you disagree with something I say that's 100% fine and I do welcome it as you may well be correct. I don't think for one second that I know every single thing. Cheers & Ride Safe!
Poor selection. Missed lots of good bikes from the era. The Yamaha XS750 D was superseded by the E model, which I owned. great bike but did have 2nd gear issue if you rode it like you stole it. Which I did... Easy fix however, which I only found out long after I traded it in for the mighty XS1100...
I cried when I passed on my GPZ900R. It was devastating for me. I couldn't take more than two bikes when I moved. I kept the "more reliable because it's newer" TL.... That didn't work out.... The RGV at the end of the video looks a bit special. Nice upgrades to f & r suspension, as well as the exhaust. I went from an RGV M to the GPZ9. That was an interesting transition from no engine braking and scalectrics handling, to immense engine braking and handling like a fat bird covered in washing up liquid
@@Kysushanz the stars were just for a bit of fun , my ratings on bikes I've owned or ridden nothing more. The stars only went to 5, so 4 is pretty good.😉
Just the Norton Commando. I have an early Sportster (63) . This guy I met said take out my Norton if you think that sportster is quick. He wasn’t joking ‼️
We drove 750's. We knew our limits and put lots of hours in..Short frame 750 most dangerous and fun. Could wheelie in 3rd. Massive burnouts in 2nd as well.
Hmm tempting until I start thinking about PARTS availability and shops willing to work on em? Then there is finding a really nice low mile example where the problem often is the thing sat too long and now need carbs gone through. I appreciate however all the folks that patiently overcome the potential downsides and are able to enjoy such....I just dont see it being myself
Although the modern motorcycle era was birthed in the 1960s, the 1970s was the first full decade of that wonderful transition time and very much like the late '50s and early '60s was to the golden performance age of the American automobile...It was an incredible time to be young and in love with motorized vehicles, my bike of choice was the 'old fashioned' Norton Commando, although I enjoyed others.
Great video and collection of great bikes thanks for taking me back to my youth. Mate tell you what for AI you look very much alive to me. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've got an 82 VF750C Magna with about 45,000 kms( 28,000 miles) on the clock. Low kms because it was an American import back in 2011 and when I got it four years ago it only had done about 13,000 miles( 21.000 kms) it still had the US speedo on it. I've had to replace it since to one that's in kms hence the way the distances are stated. Besides from the tiny main tank it's great.
@@davidrochow9382 I have covered those in more detail in a previous video. A few more horsepower and it may have been the 1st muscle bike. Their performance was very good, especially for a 750.
@@richarddodds9326 yes it was very new back then. They went back to dual shocks on latee model, I'm not sure why. Those early 750s are very good bikes! Better than the later ones, in my opinion.
Well put together although a little misleading at the beginning concerning the first motordromes. Harley never competed in the steep short versions or so called ‘murderdromes’, they started competing later in the longer, flatter board tracks. Excelsior was Indians rival in the murderdromes.
@@glennb9535 thanks my research at the time was correct and pedantic. But who really knows for sure? Appreciate the feedback buddy, very much so. Cheers!
I had a 73 Penton 125 six day trial motocross...That Sachs motor was a bitch to start and the transmission had to be shifted perfectly but when it was running good it was unbeatable!!!
@@M-H433 it is extremely close if not exactly the same to the original record breaking engine. It was still Burts motor just reconditioned and same megaphone mufflers. I do have some footage with sound, the motors are the same.
I had a 1973 Yamaha 750 and it was a mess to deal with. I then got a 1973 Z1 Kawasaki and it was great. I sold it in 1995 and have regreted it ever since. Didn't want my sons to ride until adults. The Z1 was fast for the time and my top speed on it was 145 mph on a closed portion of I-10. I know own a 2007 Kawasaki Z1000 and a 2009 Concours. Love the Kawasaki in-line 4.
Hi, my biking days started in the seventies and I do think that some beautiful designs came from that era. Tempting to say the best but when you think of the 916, panegale, mv and others of today, I remain humble 😊. I had a few of those bikes at the time and I've got some of them today. La vie est belle. Thanks for the video, I was worried that you had gone forever 😮😅
@@jeremyharris5102 nope I'm still here just been busy this year. RU-vid is just a hobby but I'm working on another video. Its hard trying to balance my time sometimes. Cheers.
