In the '50's dad had a BSA 1000 and sidecar that he got in a swap for his BSA sloper 350. I think dads was a flat tanker though. Left it behind when they came to Australia. I'd take a BSA on family recommendation. Dad's kick start was broken, or missing, but it push started easily.

I read the Crockers were really well made. This one has similar horsepower rating with a modern Sportster. Thank you, nice show!

A Sportster isn't particularly high revving. Cam timing is pretty mild. An 883 with free flowing exhaust and a carb will do a bit over 100 mph. The extra 100cc of the Croker and most of these bikes gives a similar speed. I liked the earlier Sportster, these modern black things, not so much.

Absolutely lovely. Fantastic bikes. I thought I was listening to Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappell but it wasn't scratchy enough, too hifi, but fantastic nevertheless, great. Love your dead authentic channel, it;s deffo one of the best on YT for sure.

Great video! Did spot what looks like plunger suspension on both the Ariel and the Brough Superior British Bikes, so not fully Rigid rears.. Thanks again

Thanks and yes you are correct on both counts. Plunger rear suspension was available on the 1938 Brough Superior for an added cost. And as far as I could ascertain the 1938 Ariel did indeed have a rigid rear but the late '38 models and 1939 models featured plunger suspension.
