PRP had no effect for my knee. Severe arthritis in all 3 chambers. The Dr was sure it would provide relief and help me avoid a knee replacement, as I'm only 44. He was very disappointed to hear PRP failed. As a result he has offered stem cell treatment, at no additional cost to what I paid for PRP. Strongly considering it, since it won't cost me more, but I'm highly pessimistic at this point.

Interesting. I got better - completely out of pain - from spinal stenosis without surgery. It took several months. Pain started in June; pain was completely gone by the following April or so. It is possible.

I have been in pain for 4.5 months so I’d be happy with 12 weeks. So being that it’s been this long does that mean it won’t be healing on its own. I’m waiting 3 years to even see a surgeon. I’ve been told. I was in even worse pain over a decade ago for 3 years, so I’ve been through extreme hell. Had microdiscectomy the first time and it fixed me up. Really sad this has come back I’m still fairly young at 43 YO.

Thank you. I only have pain when I move, but it is then the worst pain of my life, it makes me shout out. I know it is a spasm, but I don't know how to treat it. Obviously I can't stay immobile until the disc repairs. Is there anything I can do? It is so difficult to relax the spasm out, as the muscles are contracting involuntarily. I can only take paracetamol as I have permanent atrial fibrillation as well. Thank you very much.

Thank you, very informative. I'll search to see if you have a video on back spasms. I think I put a disc out a week ago and since then I have back spasms on the slightest movement. I've had three children and broken bones, and nothing compares to the pain of the spasms, I am literally shouting out and saying such bad words, I am ashamed. I live in England and will see a doctor on Monday, I hope he will send me for an x-ray so I know what's going on. At least this has made me see that I need to lose weight asap and see a physio for core strength and flexibility.

I understand that drs don’t like to give narcotics but let me tell you I wouldn’t have a life if I didn’t have them! My dr is very good with my pain management which is his job. I’d never be able to get up if it wasn’t for meds, heat, ice and otc muscle numbing meds. RFA has also helped

Im into my 3rd week. Saw surgeon yesterday who said all was well took xrays and sent me on my way. My legs had swollen double the size and the first 2 weeks had no pain and came off meds. Week 3 im on a lot of pain gone back on ibrofen n paracetomol...i could weightbear week 2 but since physio ive regressed. Doc says the tightness is the muscles tendons etc and leg pain is normal. I expected going back to work by week 6 but i cant see that happening unless i can get off the cane but its too painful. I walked into the hospital fine my problem was nerve pain in hip and now im wishing i hadnt had this done. Something is not right but they have double checked me and tel me to give it time. Seeing others off cane so early is wonderful i was hoping to be the same.

most patients dont really have a choice or that many options on what the surgeon does when he's hammering away on your spine . He could have had a bad night with the wife maybe his girlfriend is late on her flow maybe the million-dollar mansion is in bankruptcy 🤣🙄 So he forget to tighten that one screw all the way or accidentally nicks that very important nerve or forgets that the tin snips are still laying inside when he buttons you up . Maybe it was a Friday

I have a question been suffering on lower back heaviness that caused my legs to feel heavy, been like this for 3 months after having a baby. Its been 1 year now but the docters shows my xray that nothings wrong and test results were all negative. So what really is causing this? The heaviness causes leg pains.

I suffer from spinal stenosis myself to the point its difficult to walk for long, and when I stand for too long, my legs start to shake. I was told by the supposed best neurosurgeon in my state to do surgery you have to be at a certain weight, and he talked about putting in some kind of pain pump that's made with sea snake venom? I've tried physical therapy and that failed. I've tried to do injections which one messed up my right leg at the point I was dragging it as I walked. That ended up causing a bloodclot that was like shrapnel in my lungs and could've killed me. Pain medications seem useless for it. You want to get up and walk and do stuff, but this stenosis stuff really does a number on you. Its hard-to-get people to understand what you're going through. They think throwing a few different things at it will fix the problem.

Dr Dan , Please I need your help with diagnosing something as the doctors I have went to couldn’t diagnosis my problem. I am a 49 year old female , I have chronic back pain in my right lower back which seems to radiate towards right hip joint and further towards medial part of the thigh , The pain feels like something is stretching internally , and a pinching type of pain , When I get up from the bed i start feeling the pain and then after exercising for a bit it goes away in an hour and severity of the pain decreases when i am moving and pain is more when I’m standing. I have this pain since 7 years. I had a MRI in 2018 and now recently last week , both the MRIs showed mild disc changes on the LEFT side but all the pain that I have is on the right side. Also this pain went away for some months when I started using Herbalife products (including protein powder and a lot of products like calcium ,multivitamin etc.) But then I stopped using Herbalife products as I got to know they were harmful. And after I stopped using Herbalife products the pain came back. I’m really confused as to what has happened. I’d really appreciate it if you could help me with this

Opiods work for me as a chronic pain patient. I’m not an addict, drug seeker and I take my medications as directed. Doctors who treat pain and do not consider opioid therapy as an option are cruel and so full of themselves. Fortunately, my pain management clinic works with me on all levels of pain management including physical therapy, nerve blocks and a reasonable medication schedule that includes opioids. I’m so sick of hearing these holier than thou “pain physicians” paint chronic pain patients with a broad stroke. We’re all going to be addicts. The opposite is true. Pain patients are turning to the streets for relief and many die while doing it. Shame on these heartless doctors. They should all be sued for malpractice!

I am so glad you are able to lead a fuller life with the medical management you are receiving. But I don't appreciate being called cruel, full of myself, or heartless. The opposite is true. I do not believe opiates should be used for chronic musculoskeletal pain due to the lack of evidence of their success and clear cut dangers. My opinions come from my experience in practice, view of the available evidence, as well as great love and concern for others. Your experience has led you to views that are different than mine. I respect you for your views. But I do ask you to consider that more than 100K people a year are dying, that's nearly double the Viet Nam war every year. There is no doubt prescription opiates have fed the fentanyl epidemic. And frankly, I just don't think any of us are better off calling other people names.

Good informative video. If I can ask doc, my situation is something similar, I have a l5 s1 extrusion herniated disk, but after epidural injection my Pain went away, but when do you think surgery is really needed..
@BestPracticeHealth
@BestPracticeHealth 13 дней назад
There are 3 reasons to have a microdiscectomy surgery. They are functionally limiting numbness or weakness or unbearable pain. Since your pain is gone after epidural if you do not have functionally limiting numbness or weakness then you likely do not need surgery. Your pain management doctor (who did the epidural) is a good resource to discuss these issues further.

Avoid surgery at all cost!!!! I have had 4 meniscus surgeries and one PKR......the meniscus surgeries led to my PKR and 3 of them werent even needed. Now im suffering from osteoarthritis in both knees. Before having surgery I would change diet....eliminate sugar, gluten, and alcohol and spend more time exercising strengthening and stretching....thats my advice!!!

I don’t know what I have, but for the last few months, I feel like my glute gets super tight and it hurts unless I stretch and hear a click/pop noise in my lower back. The pain immediately goes away. I stretch by slowly thrusting once towards the air, or I walk for a few seconds, or I squat down. All of them eventually lead to a click in my lower back. The stiffness and pain when it does happen renders motion useless, and I don’t want it to become chronic. It’s just sporadic, week to week. It went away recently by dead hanging, but I notice my rear hip and lower back are sore because of the stretching. When I dead hang and I let my muscles relax, my lower back feels like it stretches and it hurts.

In 2017 or if nowhere i herniated a discussion, had to rush to the e.r, was admitted, next day had a laminectomy (L3-L5). Went home, 21days later i lost balance, slipped & fell (thought it was my fault being a bit clumsy idk) rushed back in to hospital, new mri showed a massive amount of fluid build up along with a blood flour, rushed into a 2nd lamenectomy AND facetectomy (sorry for misspelling) haven't been the same since. Still experience pain but went from wheelchair to walker to came to walking in my own. No physical therapy or help due to no health ins. Fast forward to 2024, I've been in pain for atleast a month nonstop (just assumed it was sciatica) but it's now all mostly my left side (everything prior had all been in right side only) went to hosp this past sun, Dr said i need another lamenectomy but now on left side as what happened to my right side is now just happening to my left. I don't feel the shooting as much as before BUT very bad sharp stabbing pain when i get up, sit dwn, walk, can't hold upper body without pain. Everything triggers the sharp stabbing pains. It's it true that it's herniated & lamenectomy is necessary? Tingling & numbness under left toes on & off. Shooting dwn back if lewd bit as often, just severe pain in mid to left lower back, very close to old lamenectomy scar area. I'm my mom's care give so i can't go on like this much longer, I've suffered & waited it out over a month but it's only getting worse with the pain. Please ANY advice will be helpful. Thank you in advance

I have sciatica caused by a herniated disc. I am going into week 8. I did not have an MRI, I was diagnosed according to my symptoms. X-ray did not show degeneration. My question is, does sciatica pain lessen and lessen overtime? Or can it lessen and then a couple of days intensify again? That is kind of where I am at. I have days when the sciatica pain is a 2 and days that it goes up to a 7 but has not reached back up to the pain level I started. Which felt like 12.
