So thankful to know you, your family, and team are okay, Beth. I’ve been praying for you ever since Helene hit and was worried for your safety. I was so thrilled to see your replies to concerns and prayers. I live in Washington state now, but I grew up in South Carolina and spent many summer weekends at an uncle’s cabin in Bat Cave, NC. Chimney Rock and Lake Lure were familiar areas, and part of what made those family times so special. Asheville was also a destination at times with ice cream cones at Biltmore. Thank you for all of the delightful videos you have brought us. They have kept me in touch with my roots!

Beth, I have been enjoying your videos for the last few months. Although I don’t know you and you don’t know me…please know that I have been praying for you and your family and hoping y’all are ok and that your home is as well. We love Asheville (spent our honeymoon there) and we are so sad for all the loss. We live in Myrtle Beach and are no strangers to hurricanes. We love all of WNC and spend a good bit of time in the Blowing Rock and Boone area each year. We were actually in a campground between Sylva and Waynesville last week (to celebrate our anniversary) because of all of your videos of your beautiful area. We finally decided to evacuate on Thursday and I am grateful we did. We almost didn’t because we are kind of use to hurricanes here at home but my husband and I finally agreed that we don’t know squat about hurricanes in the mountains and the Asheville weather forecasters kept saying historic flooding and high winds and since we were on a creek in our RV…we thought…hmm… maybe we should listen. Good thing because many roads we traveled on were partially gone several hours later and a creek/river flooded our campground that night. I sure hope your family is doing ok. The devastation is so dramatic and I know your heart hurts because mine sure does and I am just a visitor. I continue to be in disbelief at the images. Take care and y’all will rebuild because that is what we do in the south after a hurricane! Stay strong and know that lots of prayers are coming your way and so many people in Myrtle Beach are digging deep for supplies and they are coming that way! Blessings, Jill
@livinginasheville
@livinginasheville 2 дня назад
I appreciate hearing this so much. Thank you so much for your prayers. They definitely work. We are safe and the living in Asheville team is safe. There are people that are not though. People that lived really far out on dirt roads that have trees that have fallen and blocked their path to supplies. People who homes directly on the river have lost their homes and if they decided to stay with those homes throughout the hurricane, they may have also lost their lives. It’s a debit and stating time for Asheville, but there is a lot of hope and love here as well. I am so glad that you made the decision to leave when you did. We are rebuilding. We will be OK and we will be strong later. 💖

You people in Asheville needs to start praying more to our Lord and Savior. There is too much hate in your area so the Lord is wiping out entire all little white towns with water. the Lord decides where to let a storm do damage. Y'all need to get right with the Lord. Pay attention to how the Lord operates.😅😅

I lived in Waynesville from 1994-96 and it was a beautiful quiet place to live, but I revisited last October 2023 and it’s a tourist town and everything is expensive! The views were amazing but not many places to eat! No one still there that I knew in the 90’s. I’m in Columbia South Carolina and it’s plenty to do, but I’ve been there done it.. Myrtle Beach South Carolina is the place to live if you can afford it!! I’m going there October 13-19! I’m ready for the beach 🏖️ 🌊☀️🐚

I lived in Waynesville from 90-93. I agree it has turned in to a tourist destination. Oddly enough, I moved there from Myrtle Beach. Currently in Florence with the intention of moving to Columbia soon. Three things in Waynesville I absolutely loved were Oktoberfest, the ramp festival and Folkmoot.

You are so sweet. Thank you so much for thinking of me and us and all the people in Asheville. We are safe and our team is safe, but there’s lots of people who are not looking so great right now. We are boots on the ground, helping them with supplies and survival And making sure we can do everything we can at the moment. I made a video that will come out on next Saturday that shows parts of Asheville. I did not want to make a disaster because that is not our channel. But it will definitely be transparent and show what’s happening.

Yes, I am OK. My family is OK and the team is OK. There are many in the area that are not as fortunate. With the flooding and the amount of rivers that we have here there are some parts that are destroyed. Parts of Swannanoa and downtown Marshall and chimney rock are not recognizable right now. We are boots on the ground helping people get the supplies that they need and doing everything that we can make sure our neighbors and community is safe. Thank you so much for your love and support and for checking on us.

Sad that at the end she called Asheville a “climate refuge” and that is one of the biggest reasons people are moving there. The FEMA map has it as a blue area, declaring it as a climate safe zone. Wow. Hurricane Helene showed us that we really don’t know a thing about climate or weather patterns. The only safe place on the planet is in Jesus Christ.
