Sir...Elvis was drafted during the height of his fame...he served...also his mother, he cherished, passed away...then spent his time in germany...he was discharged in 1960! When he home to Graceland...the home he bought for his mother...it was bitter sweet😢
"Mama" is used by Germans ,and many old school Americans from early on who came from Europe . When Africans were brought here {against their will} they never used the term "Mama" , they picked that up from European Americans back then. PS: Elvis listened to Country /Rockabilly and Gospel on the radio before these tents showed up. He says it in his own words in an interview. No one community can claim Elvis, he soaked it all up and came out with his own style .
Don’t believe all those horrible evil people who say those horrible evil things. None of that is true I can tell you he was beautiful man who just gave so much of his heart and so much to others that were never said, not to mention he’s the greatest singer there ever was and the King. He was beyond Beautiful in so many different ways he was a fantastic man and the best singer there ever was
When you watch the movie “ Elvis” you’ll get to see how and where he grew up. ❤ The Deep South was something else in the 50’s. This was before Civil Rights. 😢Elvis based his style in Black Soul and Gospel - which racist whytes weren’t cottoning to! But the kids loved it! For another perspective, watch James Brown performing Please Please Please before an integrated teen crowd in LA in ‘65
I hope you don't mind if I give you an add this to your podcast for Black history month. Elvis was an awesome human being, I was sorry when because he helped bring a lot of people together.
You’ve got to try to understand that this was over 50 years ago. Racism back then was worse than it is now. Elvis was raised up in the black community in Tupelo, Mississippi. He sang and danced and had the “ feel “ of black performers. But the black performers could not get the recognition they deserved. Elvis broke down that barrier door for black entertainers. Love your reaction. ❤
Everyone seems to want to erase history. I am now seeing how important that you don’t. Racism is a fact that my generation and the ones before it lived through. It is important that your generation learns what happened. My stepfather was a KKK member. I never learned to see colors I just see people. I grew up and fell in love with a black man, I was a race traitor among some uglier words. I was disowned. I really don’t care, you love who you love. I am glad you are telling the truth to your generation. You didn’t fight alone for civil rights some of us fought beside you.

Twano. You are a beautiful spirit and a very talented young man. Nobody can ever take that away from you. Just keep being smooth and smart. Love you. ❤️
I was born in 1962 and people were still very uptight about the way that Elvis was dancing but also more so that he had black female backup singers and it was said that a big concert that he went to They said you cannot Bring those women in here he says because you have black back up singers he said if they don’t go on I don’t go on he was boycotted it in a lot of places for these reasons not just as gyrating hips and you’re right he was born very very poor and he related a lot to that and you can hear and his music struggle Pain and heart is expression of his music will always touch mine there was so much racism in the 60s I came from a Mexican American family we were few and far between in that community and I can tell you even as a child they would not let me ride the bus beginning in 1967 and my parents went to the school board oh they provided a bus for me all right for mentally retarded children they let my two sisters Ride the regular bus because they were fair and I was not and my parents had a hard time as well because my father was a dark Mexican American man and my mother was Irish with red hair and freckles and my mother would take us to the market and somebody would say are you babysitting those kids because we all had black hair and I was a bit dark and she says no they’re my children and people always walked away from her truly a heartbreaking sight to see the experiences of my young life I’m saying up until my 30s or 40s that people still follow me around in the supermarket in the fancy stores and I went with my sister to one of the stores this woman actually walked up to me and asked me what was my nationality I told my sister this happened more than you can imagine I mean this lady followed me she was one of the people that work there no he didn’t use profanity all of his songs to be listen to him come from the heart they just didn’t like where he came from and who his friends
Elvis was a cumulation of all of his childhood experiences. He grew up in the midst of the black community and black church, so all of his moves, etc. were as natural to him as any other kid in the community even though he was white. He just happened to have incredible talent that was not usual to ANYBODY. He was extraordinary.
