As a 40 year old woman the screaming and woohooing is a release of joy and gratitude at concerts for me anyway, especially for songs I love and have memories with and artists I love if I had been lucky enough to be at an Elvis concert I would have screamed my lungs out and cried...so to me yelling and screaming is enjoyment and appreciation and totally living in the moment uninhibited for a song or an artist that brings you to life....Elvis is such an artist!!!
Elvis got those same screams when he was without his guitar he played piano as well and still screams with or without. It was just Elvis, and to answer your question, why the woman scream, well to release excitement!!! (yeah we will just leave it at that!!)

Hate to post again but answering the scream question. Watching him as a young girl he just filled you with so much emotion and excitement that you screamed to release the energy inside you. He was a revelation that freed you from bland mediocre music and performing. That feeling never ever went away. ❤
As a man you can’t understand. Every woman would have given their self just to spend one night with Elvis. His face was always full of emotion. He lived the music and you feel it in your soul. That’s what he gave with every performance. I still get goosebumps and I’m 81yrs old.
Put Elvis on stage alone with no guitar or backing band, just singing and clicking his fingers in one concert hall and the Beatles or any other Band or Solo performer playing next door and the room Elvis is in would be packed with the Beatles quitting their show and coming over to watch Elvis aswell. Hi Twano! So far the comments say it’s not the guitar…and I agree. Having said that, a guitar is not just a guitar when Elvis is playing it. It could be mistaken for a phallus symbol, if I were inclined to think that way.😜 judging by his facial expressions (which you did notice) he gives one the impression that he is having very dirty thoughts. It’s a thing of beauty really, what the music requires of him, and a sizable chunk of his charm. But if it was that simple, anyone could be Elvis. Take the guitar and you have Elvis thrusting to Suspicious Minds or Polk Salad Annie. Take away the thrust and Elvis vibrato gets you with Just Pretend or Bridge Over Trouble Waters although little vibrato is used for his R&B renderings. Well, you get the picture. Take all of that and you would have a highly complex human being: smart, funny, sensitive, kind, flawed, generous religious, cool, if not beautiful. What a drew me to Elvis a few years back was an interview with one of his co-stars. She claimed that he had such magnetism that people would stop whatever they were doing and turn to look at the door moments before Elvis would enter. I still don't understand the mentality of women back in the day with Elvis and Beatles losing their minds over a group or singer. Michael had fans losing their minds.. I love me some MJ .. but no.. i'm not going to faint at a concert.. I've paid money to see the whole dang thing.. not lose it and miss the concert.

Screaming is a typical thing teenage girls or older done for various artist. Including Frank Sinatra James Brown . All the rock 'n' roll rollers of the 50s, little Richard, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, and Manny Manny others. I suppose it's not really a guy thing, Maybe younger kids back in the 50s perhaps. Elvis had ladies screaming when he wasn’t playing guitar, so in this instance, I’m afraid to say you are totally wrong. The mere presence of Elvis with or without his guitar, had ladies screaming their heads off. And that’s because, & my wife has said this, that Elvis was the sexiest man alive. No other man could match up to him (my wife again), but I can see what she means. He was one very good looking man with a lot of sex-appeal …. & that is what makes the ladies scream.
