Absolutely wonderful. I assume😂 that this is the engine of the car that came over to the U.K. from New Zealand some years ago and completed the London - Brighton run; there surely can't be any others.
Yes, it is. My father found the car in country France in 1984 and restored it back to 1891 specs after it had some mods done to it including a steering wheel of all things, then took it on the 1991 run but had the fuel canister for the hot tube ignition burners fall off so no more fuel for the burners, then made it all the way in 1996. Car still goes but had an issue with a crack in the inlet tube after the caby so no suction so no petrol being sucked up into the engine. Just need to put it back together again and it should run again.
@@itsfromlawrence Many thanks for your message. I thought that it must be - PL production that year was in single digits if I remember correctly; her survival is really incredible. I took a photo of her nearing the top of Clayton Hill with your Dad, presumably, standing up to see over the produce of the cooling tank! Where is it on the car, please and how much does it hold? All the best with the repair.
Thank you for this informative video cuz I've been working on my own build. I have a question about the infill bracket for the rear chassis cut. Is it installed as shown in the photo or is it inserted between the cuts
hey there, did the h151f bolt straight to the 1hdt, because i am looking at putting a 79 series gearbox on the back of my turboed 1hz and was wondering if it would bolt straight in. my understanding is the 1hdt is the same as the 1hz but turboed from factory.
more or less. you have to change the input shaft and also the support tube on the front of the gearbox housing. H150/151 and now 152 are all the same physically just different rations.(150 for non turbo engines usually, 152 for turbod and fzfe) Just wondering if the fzfe engine has a different bellhousing. Mine was from a 1hz and it all came together.
was about 20 months from the start to driving it on the road. could be done sooner if you don't change the body or have to fabricate things as much as I had to.
Hi I'm in New Zealand And I was wondering if any one over there could help me find an fj40 that was featured in a video 2012 Ellis track Wesburn part 1 I think it was mine I sold it to a guy who used it for hunting trips in New Zealand for a couple of years and he was going to take it back to Australia if he liked it I put the 350 V8 in it and power steering and disc brakes on the front also a 50mm body lift all though it looks like it has had a major upgrade in the suspension looks like coils all round and huge feet I hope someone can give me more information would be great if it is my old truck have regretted selling it biggest mistake but will happy knowing it is still going
Hi Grant. The 2 yellow 40's in the video are my one with the soft top and a mates one with the hardtop. Mine has been in Australia since 82 and the other yellow one was modified to coils by a a guy who lives in Country Victoria. There are a few more yellow 40's around but of the ones I have seen most are std suspension. That doesn't mean to say that its yellow anymore but I tend to look out for things that are different in the 40 world. If your on facebook theres a group called 40 SERIES LANDCRUISER OWNERS and there is a lot of guys from Australia on that page.
This thing is awesome. I would love to restore a 40 series pick up after my son and I finish our 1977 FJ40 build. Maybe that will be my next one to document and make some videos about. I also really love the FJ55's as well!!
I had a 1972 fj40 that i replaced the full rag top with an aftermarket half top...my rig looked like a pickup like this one...I had big Maxi Trac tires on it...I had it for 15 years and it wasn’t no pavement princess...it put thru some tough runs over the years...it never failed me...
I got some 76mm x 3mm tube bent to the shape that I required, then cut the tube in half, then cut the top section in half again to give me a left and right hand side. I then made a frame from 25.4mm sq and filled in the gaps with sheet metal. Took a while for each side but happy with the result. One is not a bit banged in after catching it on a tree but still looks the same.
@@itsfromlawrence Thank you so much for the tip , great idea ! I hate the fiberglass flares on my 40 and would like to replace them with something more durable .
