I purchased a model CQV-SWR-508 on Banggood and this meter inserted bad noise into the signal. I am fighting with them right now to return it and get my money back as it was bad out of the box.
Please STOP doing FT8 use SSB, FM, AM, or CW the CPU does all the work Be A Real HAM USE VOICE Please We will lose Our Bands if We keep only using one little spot.
Thank you for your comment and opinion. I do SSB, FT8, FT4, and FM, and AM. But as the activator, I choose what modes I use in every different scenario. I use digital more when I'm out with the family, or busy working in the shack etc. I know it's not for everyone 🙃.
do you have an updated manual on the different modes? I noticed on mine, it takes 10 presses of the button to go into "unlimited" mode and 9 presses of the button put an "A" on the screen.. but I'm not sure what that does.
I have driven 40 miles to an activation, only to realize just before I got there I did NOT have a microphone or headset. I went ahead and did scout out the area for the second arrival/first of my activations. We all learn our lessons, somehow. W4XCO
I am in the process of building a Go Box in a Pelican Case. This way I grab one Case and go.. What happened to you could happen to any of us...Thank You for sharing this as I am sure it will help many PS--- Yes! There will be a HF Radio in this Box ...KC3ZDW 73's
I have this meter and it did restart every time i went over 70 watts on battery, not with the charger Connected. The text SWR and FWD change to Chinese text when i go over 125 watts. I changed the battery to a 5000 mAh and it looks like it is stable now and will not restart as long as the battery power is good, but i have to live with the Chinese text(i dont care to much ). The charger give some noise but not all the time, no noise on battery. Banggood wouldn't give me a refund or exchange it for a new one(i am done with Banggood). But i am happy with it now as long as it works? It is maybe the most beautiful SWR meter on the marked i think so it is sad it dosent work as it should. The bilt quality is good.
I would be interested to know if you observe the same problem as I did with this meter. I bought one. The display was excellent and I was very happy ... for one day ... then I discovered a serious problem. The meter generates RF noise. On 40 metres the noise level went up by 2 S points when the meter was turned on. It was worse on 80 metres. If you have a high noise level in your location you may not see it, but I have a quiet location. It's disappointing because the meter display was so good. Here's a video showing my problem ... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P4eouBD4i0E.htmlsi=o8Ql7ZG_zcJ-Vvqr Oh ... and I notice the SWR&POWER METER printing on your meter isn't quite straight. Mine was the same.
Hello! Also have Xiegu 6100 and I'm considering buying this linear amplifier Is a connection cable needed between the Xiegu and the amplifier's ACC interface? Many thanks for review / 73 CS7BDO
Great video, I’m using the same Apache case for my FT-891. I centered the rig in the middle to give even airflow left to right. I mounted the mobile bracket and the body is secured with that, it also helped to center the weight for easier carrying and also allowed enough room to drill and attach the bulkhead connector for the mic just below the left latch.
I just bought one of these yesterday on eBay. I own many bought (myantennas) and home made EFHW antennas. About 8 years ago (2016) I wanted to build something like this - an adjustable length EFHW on a reel, but I couldn't come up with a method of keeping constant contact between transformer and wire. I designed several methods, but I was never really happy with the results. I look forward to doing lots of testing with this antenna, and putting videos of this antenna on my youtube channel from Nairobi Kenya (5Z4J)
Nice! I plan on using the Same HF radio along side a Yaesu FTM500 dual band. I'll have HT docking stations and USB charge plugs powered by numerous Bienno Batteries. I will add firewall plugs to daisychain this into a solar charged power pack.
You look like my buddy, Dave. In fact, I had to click on the video and watch a couple of times to make sure you weren't two people. I hope your EFHW is doing well. It's a good kit. I have an idea for your kit. If you would like to hear, let's chat sometime.
