I will continue to help put my fellow supra owners by posting updates and making the car just thay much better. Hopefully we can reach out to some of you Subaru owners as well. We have some big plans for future builds and excited to bring you guys along for the journey. Subscribe to our channel and get the most recent uploads.
It's pretty dang loud. Sounds really good, but if you aren't using headsets, you might lose your hearing (joking). We mostly ride at the dunes so pretty much on the throttle the whole time. Good throaty sound and not raspy and annoying.
i have a 7m-ge toyota cressida with arp headstuds and brand new head gasket but i keep hearing theyre too expensive to be worth it over a jz and im considering a swap.
I definitely contemplated doing the swap myself but I wanted to try and keep it "original". I definitely want to turn mine up more. Keep me posted on what you do!
@lucioucz oh I super content with my 7M. It holds great power and I haven't had to throw a ton of money at it. I got the block and head machined a few years ago and haven't had any issues. The forged internals didn't cost an arm and a leg either. In my opinion it's a great motor to learn on.
Yeah I'm still trying to find the best way to do it. I want to make it a e-file so you guys can just print it out. Still in the works and we will get it figured out soon!
Fu*# dude, I try and try and look forward to your videos, but every time it's way too much commentary and not enough work being shown. The videos are 80/20. 80 percent talk, 20 or 15% work. I hope your getting some kick back for sponsorship
@@mainstreambuilds more work, less talk. If you're in it for views and really want your channel to be successful, buy some gaskets and do it over. Should be pretty easy since you already done it before and figured out the problems that viewers will come across with 7M's. Otherwise there's plenty of channels on RU-vid that are actually getting down and not just throwing shots out to companies. I like you because you're a real 7mgte enthusiast regardless if you started with a N/A, but I will tell you that when start talking, and keep talking and there's nothing but small work to follow, people will bounce to other channels that's really getting down. At least show your viewers that you have rip that thing. Send it one time. Damn. Something to keep your viewers excited for the next videos and inspiration. Hello
Mine is also a 7mge. I have been looking for a 2JZ but I recently picked up Another 7m but with targa roof. Been debating just fully doing what you did with your set up. Sweet build man!
Replacing the muffler and not the cat is useless.. the cat is more important than the muffler... Doesn't make any sense. 😂 Plus there's more important and reliable parts that could've been installed before the muffler. Example. Radius rods, catch can and better springs. Im sure the lower A Arms hasn't been replaced yet.( The weakest link). And The bump steer delete...
Haha thanks for the feedback! If you watched my other video you would see I did the cat delete pipe with an electronic cut out. I would agree there are better upgrades that could be done first, but I chose to do an exhaust 🤷♂️.
I’m not sure if I missed but you mentioned oil squirters on the 7mgte, did you add oil squirters to your ge?? & how much did this build run you? Just got my hands on an 86 Supra and trying to map things out
Since I ended up going with forged internals, it wasn't necessary to add oil squirters. I was actually talking to a guy the other day about overall costs. I saved a bunch of money by doing all the fab stuff myself, but I'd say overall, I'm probably 8-10k.
im curious if belt length matters when relocating the alternator? and also without intercooler piping running to the other side how does it route to the passenger side of intercooler
Yeah belt length does matter in this case. The 7m has 3 different belts with the factory setup. When moving the alternator down below it actually brings it closer to the crank pulley which requires a shorter length belt. The intercooler pipe runs from the intake down through the battery tray to the intercooler. From the intercooler it runs up along the power steering pump and to the turbo.
@@rileypinard2348 I was able to toss the maf when I switched over to a full standalone ecu and ran the new turbo. The forward facing intake looks so good and makes it easier to route the intercooler pipe for the turbo
Thank you for the support and watching the videos! Yeah I was running the stock NA ecu with 550cc injectors. The stock ecu didn't love anything higher than those.
I’m running the same RPM BOV, I’ve also got the extension hose to vent it inside the air box (not installed yet) so it’s not open to dust/dirt. I’ve ran other BOVs, I’ve always wondered how to adjust the adjustable BOVs. I think the one I put on my brothers x3 is adjustable. Any input on adjusting one? I also would recommend using a removable boost pressure gauge after removing the boost hoses, I’ve found leaks more then once where I thought the hose clamps/connections where tight but needed just a little more attention loosing valuable boost pressure. I bought the gauge from KWI clutch, I was trying to diagnose a power loss, sure enough a boost hose was leaking.
So I’m planning on getting one myself and it most likely will be the 86.5 and I plan to turbo it. Would yall recommend me do that without changing much of the internals?
It just depends on how much power you are trying to achieve. If it's just the stock PSI or a few PSI above that it should be fine. The forward facing manifold has decent low end torque, better throttle response, better intercooler pipe routing.....and just looks way better.
Poor Supra. Not that he’s doing a terrible job but I hope ppl realize that these are rare cars, the more ppl do these “mods” good luck finding one OEM. This was a perfectly nice Supra and to do this for what? To make yourself look different? It’s sad really and tbh these mods probably won’t last and this car will probably end up in the junk yard.
Wow thanks for the support man! Sorry MY car upsets you so bad. If you actually watched the video I talk about how the car had been hit and it was beyond my knowledge and repair skills. To answer your question, yes I want to be different and make the car how I like it and will enjoy it. My plan is to fit a larger tire which wouldn't fit with stock fenders. To say my car will end up in a junk yard because these so call "mods" will get it there quicker is a pretty far reach. I'd love to see pics of your supra. With your expectations it sounds like it's in absolute perfect condition. 👌
That's a great question. It looks like a pretty good seal but I don't think it would be water tight. I can feel exhaust pass around butterfly valve when it's closed.
@arturo1129 I'm not sure actually. Our state doesn't require emissions for side by sides. I'd think as long as the valve is closed and pushing everything through the main exhaust you should be good.
I just installed the kit on My X3 Turbo rr max. On the ride i noticed the bov would open and remain open at around 5300 rpm. I also noticed as I was driving down the road and every time I hit a bump and my foot bounced on a gas pedal a little the BOV would also dump. Do I need to put the next Stronger spring? Or are you sensing something else? Any help is greatly appreciated
That's interesting. I did disassembled my bov and cleaned a bunch of grease off the plunger. It was acting like glue and would hold the plunger open. I would also try swapping the springs out. Typically the plunger and diaphragm are held closed under boost pressure. The positive boost pressure will push on the back side of the diaphragm and will hold it shut. Since yours is staying open at 5300 rpm I'm willing to bet it's opening and then getting stuck and remaining open.
Something your NEEEEEVER gona hear out of an oversized RC (electric) car...lol thats for sure...can't wait to drive mine again either...just built the head on my 2j...have fun..enjoy...n be careful my man...lots of jealous assholes out there that don't care or have NO idea what it takes to have a car like this...especially a nice one...smh 🤙🤙🤙
Beautiful build, maybe I missed it but the hose that goes from the valve cover to the block what did you do for that? On intake side see you blocked it off by the oil cap.
I actually learned it's not ideal to just block that off. I did another video where I use a -10AN push lock fitting and run the hose down to the block.
@@mainstreambuilds thanks for the update, I ended up going 1JZ vvti and truly regret selling my 7MGTE instead of building it but have buddy’s out here in Texas that still run the 7M.. I’ll check out that other video!
@JSXECO I thought about going that route as well. I'm glad I built my 7M. Great learning experience and have had a ton of fun in the process. I actually just dropped the car off to the tuner tonight so I will be doing an update video very soon!
I'm almost done completely rebuilding my xj and I'll be selling that to buy a 1gz-fe to put in my q50 that has a blown motor then I'll eventually sell that to buy and build a new supra 😄
@@mainstreambuildsthe hall effect trigger wheel just send a signal to the ecu for the ecu to fire the coils? I'm interested in going coil on plug and just wanted to know if that's at all how it worked
So what "we need" as a 7m community is a good detailed electronics guide when it comes to modernizing the bay. I've looked all over for information should I go to a custom harness and a standalone like a haltec. There is no information as to what modules and the like can be removed and which sensors to update across the board. It is funny that when it comes to the FFIM side of things, there too is so little actual information post 2006.
I've had to slowly and carefully remove certain sensors and what not to clean up the bay. I'm running the ecumaster which allows you to adapt the factory harness to the standalone ecu. Hopefully this video sheds so light on doing a ffic. It's. Ot super difficult but can be daunting if there is little to no info.
hey man glad I found your channel , I'm going to be dropping a turbo in my sons "88 Supra which is also a 7MGE , just collecting bits and pieces atm but ill certainly be watching your vids and I'm about to fit a pressure regulator and a catch can to so thanks for sharing your experiences along the way
