This was a requested video from some of you. This is a pretty easy process and doesn't take a ton of work. The AN fittings and nylon hose I sourced from amazon. I used 90 and straight AN fittings for my setup. M12x1.25 tap to thread the valve covers.

It is important to note that some of the catch cans that come with the metal oil-air separator filter (looks like a bunch of tiny metal balls compressed into a disc) are not suitable to be used as your only vent to atmosphere setup as they are too restrictive when used to vent to atmosphere and will cause a small pressure build up in the crank case. Those type of cans are only usable if plumbed into the more OEM PCV setups where the intake manifold is sucking in crank case air, I havent tested if a pre-turbo pipe vent provides enough suction for that type of filter catch can but I doubt it. Cans with steel wool baffling etc are fine but yeah, I had a friend delete their PCV system using one of those cans and had it vent to atmo and it caused oil to push past the turbo seals due to the crank case pressure build up when on boost :/ I still fully support deleting OEM PCV setups as they are purely for emmisions control and are only harmful to your engine by allowing oil back into the intake which is never a good thing. Vent to atmo is the way!

Yes! Thanks for adding the info! I brushed over that info pretty quick but definitely important to know.

I actually bought a 2j for mine, but I decided to keep the 7m and use the 2j for something down the road. New subscriber, btw. And my Supra is a 1990.

Thanks for following the channel! Don't get me wrong, 2j would be way sick, but I just think keeping the 7M would be cool.

@mainstreambuilds I really like driving the car and I don't intend to go past 350 horsepower or so, and the 7m is more than capable of that. And I don't have to modify much, so it would be easier to go back to stock if I ever wanted to sell it to a collector or move somewhere with emissions testing.

@iraadams7459 yeah that's probably a good call for the emissions stuff. I want to eventually put a 2j in something else as well.

Speaking of oil leaking out the front of the cam covers, for 6 years I had a leak at the front that I always thought was the cam seals, I ended up giving up on it until I realised on the last strip down I did of the engine that you have to put a dab of rtv under the front cam cap as it has pressurised oil sealing ally-ally outside of any seals >_< I had a good laugh when I figured that out

Haha yes! So annoying! I could never figure out why my spark plugs were all covered in oil. Glad we figured it out haha.

I am a boilermaker and can weld ally easily but I still cannot understand why people weld bungs on the covers instead of tapping them to take a fitting! It is so much more serviceable to have it tapped then welded on, not to mention way quicker and easier and doable by anyone. Good stuff!

I would have to agree. It's not really that much work to just drill and tap. I've always drilled and tapped mine.

How’d you shave the GTE valve cover?
@mainstreambuilds
@mainstreambuilds 8 месяцев назад
My buddy and I basically boxed that lower piece in and made it level. I went in and ground all the welds down and made everything nice and flush.
