they don't sound the same, but for the price I'll go with jem jr, their is minimal tone difference between the second and the thrid. The third sounds more balanced it's the best sounding but the resonance on the second is also very good, the second, its really a case of 1-3
Hello David . I own the JEM7VP and tried to play what you play.. The lead sound is completely different. like yours in the video. What amp are you using in the video? and what settings are there??? Or does anyone have any tips?
Hey mate, I would say your amplifier is a MAJOR component of how your lead will sound. I am running through a Line 6 amplifi tt. But even using that, there are so many options to create different lead sounds. Good luck, finding the tone you want is always tough.
@@DavidGoodland Hello David. Thank you for the answer. I've been using the Petrucci plugin so far... I don't like it. I'm going to buy a Line6 helix rack. And I made a cover version of your music, in the second section I left some space for your version. How do you like that? Link is here.
Ich besitze die JEM7VP und habe verucht das nachzuspielen was du spielst.. Der Sound ist ganz anders. als bei dir im Video. Welche Amp benutzt du in dem Video. und welche Einstellungen sind da???
Thanks mate. Dark Matter - so I wrote this song with this guitar to demo it and the pick ups which are called 'Dark Matter' pick ups. But I brain farted and forgot Vai did a track (a much better track) with the same name. My bad 😆
@@DavidGoodland I don't know man. Vai's song is good and definitely has his special touch, but not really something for the masses. (It's a little out there.) I like your song better. It's got the awesome guitar-centric chops yet it could be really radio friendly. I only wish I could write something as good.
I bought a couple. They're okay for the price but I had to replace the bridge, nut and tuners to get the guitar super stable to play live with and ended up putting a JB in the bridge of both. Overall, pretty good alternative to taking your custom out on the road for not too much in upgrades, especially if you can pick up a cheap used JB or Burstbucker etc.
For years my "Woody" was a tuning nightmare. If I ever wanted to play it I knew that the first step was to unlock the lock nut and tune with the tuning keys first then move forward from there. Then after that solution I realized that old strings (not always brand new) are very unfriendly to the "Woody." Keep fresh strings on the "Woody." I love mine so much that I paid way too much for a brand new one in a far away country, so I have 2 now, because I plan on wearing out the first one. I currently play the original one live every weekend at gigs in the Elliot Twist cover band. The Dark Matter Pickups sound so good to me that I can't wait to put a set into some other guitar, maybe the new $500 Ibanez RG470DX-TMN that secretly has the Edge 2 tremolo in a $500 guitar.
Great vid man, a love your guitar!! Looks like the real one. Where did u get it exactly? On Ali ? Recall the vendor name? Cause there is a lot of copy of it, but when i read reviews somes seems more bad than others (talking about the KH Ouija one replicate) , even one said that his, the pickup selector wasnt working at all. So id like a good one like yours my friend
Spent a whole afternoon trying out Ibanez guitars a few months back, including all these. The Paul Waggoner signature model was the best to my ears. I don't even know who he is but his guitar is brilliant. Reminded me of when I picked up the J Mascis Squier Jazzmaster. Didn't know who he was, but his guitar is brilliant.
In the background do you still have the cherry burst les Paul standard And what brand is that Stratocaster You still have that (along with the Zach wylde guitar)
You still have the sunburst cherry les Paul don’t you along with the black fender Stratocaster and Zakk Wylde guitar What brand is that sunburst cherry les Paul
I just got mine a few weeks ago and it's a pile of D@gsh!t. the tremolo recess routing is way off and the cheap tremolo rubs against the sides so I had to route it about 1/8" bigger and put a FR 1000 in it, the back routing was about 3/4" too far down towards the bottom of the guitar so the springs would not line up evenly and had to route significant wood to get the springs to evenly attach to the tremolo, the neck was seriously bigger than a baseball bat so I had to sand it down and use Tung oil to make it somewhat playable. the fake EMG pickups were 90% active and muddy as hell, you could plug it in without the battery but it was so quiet it was barely audible. I got what I paid for but what a trainwreck, couldn't even play it out of the Styrofoam box
wow!! great video!!! by the way, does the guitar feel like the original with the weight or does it feel slightly lighter? thanks so much for posting this!!! i will definitely get one!! Cheers!!
