I have bought one without a case. They wrap the guitar up in the white thin foam/sheet and then pack it into the same foam cast you see here in this video. I will email you 2 pictures as I can't post them here.

why is people bashing chinese replica's??? they are just as good quality as american made guitars. besides, it's the player that makes the guitar, not the guitar makes the player. most importantly, i'd rather pay $300 with free shipping for a chinese replica than $500 plus tax for a crappy epiphone!!!!

Its a good guitar. The frets are a little bit buzzy around the low E on the 3rd fret but its not too bad. The gold is sparkly which I am not a huge fan of BUT overall I really like this guitar and play it often. I have this tuned to Eb - to jam to albums in Eb (guns&roses, ozzy osbourne, some metallica etc). I like having lots of guitars and tune them differently, this one certainly gets picked up quite a lot. The only mods I have done are - Knobs, toggle cover & surround, position indicators

i have seen on video how the real les pauls are made,,,guess what/? the Chinese make it the same,,,they use the same tools and equipment the Chinese use,,,if the Chinese were not advertising it as fake gibson or les pauls no body would have a problem... they look nice sound nice,,for the price,im all for it,,i bought 4 so far and been very happy with them,,i own a harley and when i need parts guess what? most parts are made in china
Hi mate, I understand and agree with the problem of people passing them off as legit. My videos and others similar can be used to educated people on how to spot fakes. I buy them as pure souvenirs/tributes to 'real guitars' I actually want and they are fun and good for the price.
no they are not legit pickups, there is nothing on them to suggest they are seymour duncans. The ones that came with this sound good though. Also for your other questions, it took 19 days after ordering to arrive.
Thanx for the vids David! Just received my "Slash Appetite Les paul" from China today, and I couldn't be happier w/my purchase! I did alot of research on these fakes before I bought and I found your vids the most informative. Great music too! Unlike your "Slash", mine came perfectly set up right outta the box! I couldnt believe how well it stays in tune! The fake Klusens do great job. Minor flaws but for $300 bucks w/case, shipped its a great deal. Gonna change the pups tho, but happy overall!
Guys seriously if you don't like this why watch? I don't agree using the gibson brand but the pedestal people put them on is ridiculous. Just an example. I picked up a gibson les paul supreme. Real thing not a copy. One of the worst built , playing and sounding guitars I've seen. People also say you have to try several to find one. The fact is you shouldn't have to. For the price on a les paul supreme each one should be damn near perfect otherwise how do you justify the price ??
...because I got it for $340 delivered to my door with a case, and Gibson retail on their web site at $3,600 with no postage. Its wood, with a few magnets and some wires. Is there a difference of quality to the value of $3,260? No. And to answer your question another way - I WANT ONE :)
You know what i like with these Chinese sellers??? Those LP guitars come with a nice case!!! And I am saying that cause I gave 880 euro from a store in Athens for this genuine Epiphone Prophecy that you see in my user pic with absolutely nothing else besides the guitar!
Yeah I got a gold top from Tradetang and I have done a lot to mine. I don't play it much. I have a bunch of fake ones. I did buy myself a Real Gibson for $2k and it was worth it. Its awesome.
Yeah Slash used a replica Les Paul....built by a professional guitar luthier in Los Angeles who makes top quality copies of vintage guitars. The guitar was MORE expensive to buy than a Les Paul would be at the time and was superior in build quality to the real thing. He had a loan of it for the recording session after he snapped the neck on his Jackson and the Record Company or Manager bought it for him after the recording.
$250 is cheaper than a nice framed photo and a guitar hanging on your wall looks ten times cooler! A coworker of mine has about half a dozen chinese guitars hanging on his walls just as decoration. He plays the real ones.
Eheheh! I`ve got a chinese Les Paul Goldtop and the only difference between yours and mine is the sticker on the headstock (I think the serial number is even the same)!!! I took it to a luthier and change the pickups for some Bare Knuckles The Mule and it sounds great for the money… Even some real Gibson owners were fooled when they played it… even the luthier was not believing it!!
WERE those the original POTs in that GUITAR? ANd I couldnt see but were those caps actually wired back on top of the Tone POTs or wired from the Tones to the Volume pots center poles???? I really would like to know this because IF this was original Once AGAIN China is changing her fakes to match even MORE CLOSELY the real deals...

I hope a genuine Gibson does not need an Allen key for the truss rod. Genuine Gibsons use an Acorn nut for the truss rod adjustment- you need a different tool.

These guitars should be judged purely based on there own. I mean is says Gibson on the headstock but it,s not a Gibson. Ive bought 8 replica,s from China now ranging from a Black Beauty, to an Angus Young SG. There absolutely brilliant guitars I worked out if they were genuine they would of cost me nearly $40,000 for the 8 instead I paid $2000. One of my favourites is a replica Martin D45, $8,000 for a real one, mine cost $330 with hardcase free to the door....COOOOOL!

Wim epiphone don't make fakes they ARE Gibson that's the silliest thing I've ever heard, it might be made in a factory that previously made epiphones but not in the current 2 factories epiphone own and manufacture only epiphone guitars.
I own a real Gibson LP goldtop and the finish on that Chibson is fucking disgusting. I've seen other Chibons and they dont look too bad but that Gold is way to shiny gold and honestly just looks extremely yellow. It is not a good knock off finish, for how good some other knock offs can be.
are the dimensions of the chinese gibsons pretty much the same??? i've noticed they put more quality into the gibsons over the fenders (this cause i know certain details on fenders) they always get the body thickness wrong... and even the pickguard is waaaay off most of the times...i honestly think that a counterfeit fender dealer will get caught faster than a countefeight gibson dealer...

I don't know if this is true or not, but I've notice on all the videos I've seen of the fake Gibsons, the cut-away seems to be slightly off. Its like the curve in it isn't right of something. Maybe thats how they get away with it?
Love the guitar in this clip. Went to you blog and checked out the supplier. Some really nice guitars (even a couple of Rickenbackers) but they dont mention price anywhere!?! Also the company (feilong) also seem to sell wigs and hair pieces!!??!! (which raised a few alarm bells)...whats the quality like really? and do they have a price list or are you supposed to negotiate..seems a bit too risky.
Gibsons are nice but they're WAY overpriced. You're paying for the name. There are many guitars in this world made with the same or similar woods, hardware, & electronics as Gibson, producing the same or similar results...for LESS money.

I too agree with you. But if you stop and think about it. Gibson themselves aren't exactly what one would consider to be an honest business. There guitars have been loosing quality over the years. It's not unusual to see defective Gibsons being sold in stores. Alot of them are actually made in China in Gibson factories. And there are extremely over priced.
Good job pointing out some of the differences between real and fake. However, I hate that the Chinese are allowed to produce counterfit Gibsons. So many buyers (usually on ebay or Craigs List) get duped into thinking they are the real thing. Also once you've played the real thing those things are not a good deal - you get what you pay for.
i think,why someone buys a fake Gibson instead of the real one?the chinese replica hasn't the Gibson durability but overall the sound. i understand it's cool but i still don't like it
Jo Van De Vega yes, buying today a Gibson in a store is like risking to get a chinese copy for $1.500. Doesn't worth the risk, and not specially for a $3.000 guitar.
Congrats Torvie, but at the end of the day it still looks like a fake, the body contour is way off. I did the same with an Epiphone Custom for the same amount. You can see that in my video page...
In the USA at least, it's not only illegal to sell these, it's illegal to knowingly purchase/own an outright counterfeit Chibson. So don't take it to the airport on your way home to AU from a gig in the USA - customs are starting to confiscate the fake guitars and hold the owner for questioning. and other harassment. Not worth it for a $300 guitar.

David I am curious about the neck angle and top carve. I have heard it is similar to Custom Shop...but suspect it is simply an asian/Epiphone type of construction. One way to find out is pickup height- are they flush with the pickup rings?
You have a FAKE....have you seen the Counterfeit Ones YET? You would be totally shocked to see a COUNTERFEIT one. They ARE exact duplicates in all respects except the finish. They are still not offering nitro cell. Why? The added work and effort compared. Makes sense. BUT, YOUR cost $650.ea. Black Beauty Three PuPs only for now. Simply amazing work they did and SPOOKY with that Gibson Board inside as well.
Don't agree with them building or crafting them under les Paul name but if they're affordable until you can up grade them kool but taking his name no don't agree with it make under another name that's his quality built guitar under his name Les Paul that is.
If going the low cost Chibby route, why not just get an Oscar Schmidt and upgrade a few things than to risk it getting confiscated, paying an import fee, dealing with the flaws and defects, etc? The OE20 has a lifetime guarantee and apparently, Washburn has more quality control measures in their Chinese factory than does these others?
Hi Dave, thanks for answering back regarding the hardware quality. I have another question...how much do your Chinese guitars weigh? Are they comparable to Gibson? I ask because I find Gibson Les Pauls very heavy, and I´ve seen people mention these as lighter (not bad in my book).

I'm a guitar builder and thinking of getting the 56 gold top as a project.. i have a few questions for you if you don't mind.. How are the necks.? very thick, thin, or medium C shape. as i do not want the baseball bat neck.. hate thick necks.. could be shaved but, really not wanting to go that route. how is the weight as compared to the real thing.? i'm just looking for a good base to work with. as i always wanted the old 50's GT with the soap bar pups. Thanks for any feedback you can give.
the cut away is all wrong as soon as you opened the box i could see it was not right there is no use in trying to get it to pass as real by changing any parts when the body is that far from real
Good video, I think when Gibson, Fender, PRS ect....start really looking at what the Chinese are able to build in freaking excellent guitars for their asking price....so I buy an excellent Les Paul copy with unbelievable real Abalone all over the place and gorgeous figured would for $400 which includes a hard shell case and have to put $500 into it......USA Gibson asking price $13,000.00--- is it better---yes , just a tad....is it $12,500 better----not just no....but hell no!
I bought a Gibson Les Paul brand new in 1979 in Dallas Tx for $735.00, a week later the set neck fell out.....that's right ---it fell out....all the gold off the tuners and pick ups and hardware started rusting and flaking off within months. Nowadays they want to charge me for making the guitar look old....hell no....I'll put my own battle scars on the guitar thank you very much! So if my new Chinese guitars come with imperfections.....great....didn't have to pay for the retro look...
