These comments are extremely disappointing. The point of reparations isn’t to pay someone for “atrocities that didn’t happen during their lifetime,” it’s to help reverse a wrong because the atrocities that happened in the past continue to have crippling effects on the black community today. The best example I have is generational wealth and the wealth gap. It was only fairly recently in the scope of history that black people even got the ability and the right to have the same high paying jobs as white people already had for centuries. Thus, during the entire period of time where black people were enslaved or being oppressed by jim crow laws, white people were building generational wealth and passing it on. Today, the effects still exist within the black community. Black people have not had the time nor the equal opportunity to build the same type of wealth as white people have. Look up the statistics of the average net worth of a black person vs that of a white person. Reparations are meant to help reverse the wealth gap and right a wrong. Which many injustices done to the community before, still have an effect today. And also, there are still more injustices happening today. Anyone who says that reparations are just a handout, do not understand history and are tone deaf.
The DEI dog whistle is so fucking maddening. Old white dudes online, especially, love to toss it out for the explanation of all of the world's woes. I literally saw someone in RU-vid comments in a video analyzing a plane crash in Pakistan, where the two pilots were both Pakistani males, and the problem was just that the pilot flying was horribly unqualified, didn't follow procedures and pretty much did everything wrong, resulting in the crash that killed all but two people in a plane that plummeted into a crowded Pakistani city. But, nope. The old white guys saw it as yet another example of DEI in the commercial aviation world. Not the obvious problem of corruption (Pakistan's government and flight safety body investigated the pilots licensed to fly in the country and found something like 25% of them had somehow cheated on their exams, from either paying for a better grade or even having someone who wasn't them take their test in their place). Boeing constantly focusing on profits ahead of safety causing issues to constantly pop up in their planes as they constantly cheap out on safety to make a few million more for their shareholders? Well, that's not real...the real issue is "DEI Hires" because "minorities and women" are being hired to do jobs that they aren't qualified for to check some boxes for DEI. Good video! I am not an atheist, but I don’t believe in Christianity. I believe there is a god that all of the worlds religions are referring to, but I definitely don’t subscribe to white Jesus will save us. We got conquered and got issued a religion. Same thing happened to Mexicans with Catholicism, and other peoples. Its control. That’s why I have such an issue with missionaries. It’s good that they go to Africa and help build schools, hospitals, and stuff but it comes with a big ass photo of white Jesus looming over them. And we’ve got to acknowledge the fact that most of the black people who are super religious are in the south where they were issued the religion. I think church is a great thing for community and fellowship but Christianity isn’t for me.
Can't overstate how incredibly dangerous it has been throughout history, to claim to have the favor of "god". When framed as "god hates ____ people", a vast majority take the logical opposite position ...either in defense (as the young lady does here), or as inarguable truth & permission to also hate a group (as racists/bigots/etc have done).
I would challenge you that this is not a recent strategy, it is a long game assault on public education. Since Reagan, the GOP have been hollowing out education through underinvestment, undermining expertise, blunting standards, destabilizing teaching requirements, and funding alternative schools. What we are seeing is a culmination of this strategy. Americans generally have no idea how our government works, at any of the three levels. They do not know economics, even at home. They do not understand science. Education is supposed to help one learn how the world works, but this decades-long effort has devastated our population. It has made us less competitive in the world. Even the military had to lower recruiting standards due to this factor.

You're just wrong about the bible being a book for the suppressed. god gives clear direction on how to enslave, sell them, beat them, rape them, etc. You can cherry pick verses here and there that migh say slaves and the free are equal but equal in the eyes of god and equal in society are two different things.
I do not believe in the Abrahamic Religions. There is no proof of a so called Black or White Jesus. Old saying; The EuroAsian gave the continent the Bible and they took the land in exchange. Can imagine someone trying to convey this "knowledge" abroad from such organizations as Prager U to a meal discussion overseas. And that individual has been processed by the curriculum by Prager U being startled by the negative reaction and ridicule by those overseas who are more rounded in knowledge and have broader critical thinking skills.
Prager U is a perfect example of how conservatives think. Lots of cherry-picked and misleading information, generally taken out of context. Lots of talking points without facts and evidence to support it. Its also an example of how hard it is to fight their machine. It generally takes a video twice as long as the Prager U one to debunk and fact check their garbage.
I think you're wrong. Thomas is not a Black Nationalist in any sense. In some ways he may be checking some of the boxes some of the time, but never all of them all of the time. And when he checks some of the boxes, he's doing it for himself. Even before his confirmation hearings he was the kind of man who had demonstrated a profound contempt for his race, so that speech in Memphis you showed means nothing; it's only words. Words that land him where he always, throughout his adult years, wanted to land: with power and a lifestyle compatible with what he was certain he deserved. He's in this for himself and he understood that to achieve his goals he needed to get close to those in power and with money, namely white men. There is no nationalism there, Mr Hayes, there's is only individualism, and pure individualism of the kind Thomas practices, alienated from his own people, cannot be Black Nationalism. I believe you have lost the forest due to the trees: a white nationalist is in it because he wants the white race to dominate or be separate. He counts on other whites to help him. He counts on other races to lend a hand in exchange for better treatment in case absolute separation is impossible: witness Apartheid South Africa and its different (better) treatment of Indians. He counts on people like Thomas to help as well. A character like Thomas cannot be a nationalist of any kind: rejected by whites, he seeks them and serves them, but knows he's a tool. He'll get from them what he set out to obtain for himself all those years ago. Amongst Blacks he's a more intelligent Tim Scott and about as popular. He has no "nation" behind him because his attitude precludes others considering him "one of their own," particularly the whites he serves and who, after all, despise him.

You are correct when you say that "Christianity has been used as a brutal tool." But the people who used it that way did not follow Jesus' teachings! It wasn't Christianity! They twisted it for their own agenda.
Humans fear God, so they oppress and hate God's most apparent and loved people. If God made man from the Earth, it is surely the brown-skinned people that have been loved by the Earth and kissed by the sun. And if the devil is red from the pits of Hell, look no further for his people than those that turn red when walking God's earth or doing the devil's work. That's why "they" block us at every turn... you can only do so much for your children until they have to learn to walk on their own. And it's that, that others fear, Black People standing tall and walking the Earth as God charged the shepherds of the Earth to do so... Just my thoughts.
I'm white and I don't even know why ethnic minorities who are white follow it still, it was literally used to enslave and genocide us for centuries but somehow it's still integral to our identity, it's gross
