I'm a professionally amateur gamer who enjoys a large variety of genres but has come to love and invest most of my gaming time in the online world of virtual hunting. Living in the big city and not getting many chances to escape to the serenity, beauty, joy, and restorative effects of the great outdoors, I find wandering through digitally fabricated nature as a way to appease myself between visits. Someday I plan to escape the prison of the congested concrete jungle, but until then, let's explore what these handcrafted worlds have to offer. And as you'll see with my videos, I just keep things real. Good shots, bad shots, and everything in between, you'll find I don't sugar-coat anything. May you enjoy your time here and maybe we'll bump into each other on our journeys.
Happy Hunting Everyone!
PS. I play other games too as you'll see from time to time...

This was on Vurhonga. If you're interested though, I dropped a long play video today where I hunted with a friend on the new Sundarpatan reserve and we removed all our aids to try it as realistic as possible.
@@user-bs1if7ug1i Hehe, you'd be surprised (ok, I wasn't intending to make a pun there, but it works). I've spent many hours in the reserve so far and at this point, I've only had one tiger get close to killing me without knowing about it. In all honesty, everyone is worried about the tigers, but I've been killed 3 times by water buffalo, and once by a yak on the new reserve and a tiger has yet to take me out. If that gives a little perspective.
@@3Messenger7 Well I was doing the story at night and I was walking to the out post on the bottom left of the map and by the time I realized what was happening and got my gun out he was half way to me before I shot him and he ate it like a piece of chocolate, idk if I was already low health or what but he one tapped me, one of the jumpiest things I’ve had happen while playing video games
@@user-bs1if7ug1i Ahh man, I'm so sorry. I'm sure I'll have my own experience like that soon enough. I'm currently working on finishing the video where I had my close encounter. I'm thinking I'm going to try to have it ready by Tuesday. You can check it out if you like. But I am looking forward to more opportunities with tigers, even if I end up losing.
Hey, this map looks good! I bought the game when it first came out and it only had a couple maps. It's great to see how far it's come already. Looks like you had a great time out there and brought in a good variety. The way the herds move across the plains is fun to watch. Great job keeping track of all those honey badgers too! Haha You certainly did find a bunch. Great hunt 3M! Keep up the good work! PS How did the .mkv work out for audio for ya?
Yeah, they've added quite a bit since release and made some good changes. Obviously still have a lot to do to get some features into the game that we're already used to from others like CotW. But just need to give it time. I did enjoy myself and it goes to prove, you never know what to expect. I had no intentions of hunting badgers at all when I started, but obviously that changed. Plus, even though I enjoy taking long shots and have done well in the past, it didn't work out so well this time. But who cares, it's hunting! Thanks for the support CS. As for the .mkv recordings, the recordings themselves have been ok. I've done four now (three so far have been posted here and hopefully the next one will be this Thursday). The videos still edit the same and the quality seems the same when produced (let me know if you see any differences). I haven't had to do much with the audio yet, but I have noticed that using my software, it still only puts it on one track. I can then right click that track and select which audio I want to use. Therefore, I think I'll have to copy the audio to subsequent tracks to do individual adjustments if I need to, but I think it should be doable. I haven't had a reason to really dig into it yet though. The only thing I've noticed is when I go to produce the video, it takes a long time before my software will allow my drop down menu to work where I choose the output resolution and also picking my file save path. I'm not 100% sure it's caused strictly by the .mkv format though, because I've been having other difficulties with slow/sluggish response using my editing software. But that's been happening since I was working on the Perk video. Not sure if my software is having issues, or my hardware (which I hope not because it's all relatively new). Anyway, I hope that helps answer your question. Let me know if you have any more.
Ok, got it. I'm anticipating having the same issues coming up, so its good to have some options. Thanks so much!! Woth has come a long way! I'm certainly wanting to get back into it. Only problem is, I've gotta start from scratch again! That's always fun too though.
It's theHunter: Call of the Wild. Fun hunting game. They're about to release a new map DLC where it'll add the ability to hunt in Nepal for tigers among the other animals.
@@ziphy_6471 that's up to you on what you want to believe and how much you want to continue changing your opinion here. But it's not going to change the truth of what the game actually is. Truth is truth.
Good hunt my friend! Very immersive. And I really do appreciate the way you play this game. A good start and a good finish, so you can't ask for much better than that. Didn't leave many Elk on the map though!! Save some for the rest of us!! Haha Great stuff as always, and keep up the good work. Cheers!
Thanks CS. I appreciate your comments and support. I had fun with the hunt, even with the setback. I did get lots of good harvests. Sorry if I took them all. Hehe. I promise to leave some next time. You'll have to come though to get them. 😁 Thanks again bud.
And here it is!! Haha Wow, that was quite the hunt. We certainly did a number on the Roos and the Goats. I did catch the tail end of the hunt from my end as well, but since you covered it so well here (and I only caught a small portion of it) I'll keep it for now 🙂 A group of Roos is a 'court', 'troop' or (my personal favorite and the most common) 'mob'. Seems fitting since there were so many of them. Keeping track of what we were going after was so chaotic too! Rascal had his work cut out for him on this trip. It's great to see the hunt without the hints from your side as well; picking some species that have good indicators to their size (like the goats) would be a good strategy. Perhaps next time I'll do the same and see what we can do. I was a little concerned going into it that we wouldn't find much if I turned them off too, but I think we would have done just fine Haha. Congrats on the extra harvests as well!! It was good to have some more variety at the end. The Banteng, and crocs were great, and especially that gold Hog deer! A nice find for sure. Let's do it again sometime!! Cheers my friend, and thank you so much for hosting. I had a blast!
Oh yeah. Yes we did destroy the wildlife here. Oh, you got a little bit of a recording too. Sweet! You trickster. hehe😀. Use it if you like, you could point your viewers to this video so they can see a longer hunt with you as well. (Kind of like what I did linking the hunt with DD33). And next time we might be able to both post together. It's interesting to see you found other names for the group of roos. I got the mob and put that in the video but didn't get the others. Nice. Rascal can be a big help when you have a lot going on. You may not use dogs in CotW, but maybe you should consider it. It spices things up a bit. Glad you enjoyed seeing how the hunt went from my side without the hints. It's doable but challenging. And since you were with me, you can see how it works compared to your experience. I'd love to do another hunt where we both kept the aids off and see how that turned out. Honestly, some reserves would be hard still. This one was just open with an abundance of animals. Try in on Hirschfelden and it could be more difficult. Thanks for the comments about the bonus harvests. Still enjoy hunting the crocs (like gators) and yes, that hog deer was a real pleasant surprise. I think he was my biggest one so far. I'm up for another round whenever you are. We'll have to discuss a good time, but I've got some opportunities coming up soon. But looking forward to it. Thanks again CS, you're welcome and I had a blast too!
I love the ATV, but I agree, having a Jeep or similar passenger vehicle would be helpful for group sessions. And yes, the game is fun. I've spent many hours in it.
Hey, that's a fun hunt! Revontuli is a good map. I should spend more time there 🙂 Some nice animals in there! That big moose had a cool looking rack. And I'll always love those Whitetails! Thanks for sharing my friend! Good job Rascal!!
I haven't spent much time there myself, so glad to put in a few minutes for this hunt. Bagging that moose finally was nice and even if it's not the biggest rack out there I do like it too. Nice long pointers on the front. Agreed the whitetail was a sweet harvest as well. And thanks from both me and Rascal, we appreciate it. I'll give him a dog biscuit for you.
Yeah, it's nice to have them as options to choose as you desire. But I think Classic still has the best system for improvements personally. It's done by actively working in an area instead of picking and choosing. Still CotW has a good selection even if it could be a bit better. Thanks for the feedback. Have a good one.
Awesome video! Call of the wild needs alot more great videos like this 👍 this video needs to get seen more for sure. My channel doesn't have a ton of traction with call of the wild but I'll give this video a shoutout and try to get my regulars over to check it out 😃
Thanks so much. I'm glad you liked it. I really appreciate your feedback and support. That means a lot. I don't know if you saw it or are interested, but I have one just like it for the skills too. Again, regardless. Thank you.
AWESOME stuff in there my friend, cheers!! I've always wanted to turn off all the aids and see how I did, but never brought myself to actually do it. And getting nice harvests like some of the ones in the video must have been even MORE satisfying since you didn't have the estimates. Also, blending the two hunts worked really well, I liked it a lot. And a super awesome congrats on that diamond in there!! I didn't expect that at all! All in all, great hunt. Thanks so much for posting!!
Thanks CS. I like to turn everything off on occasion for the exact reason that it does make it harder to hunt and the unknown of the animal/harvests. It's a good challenge and keeps a person grounded. Plus, it makes the claim, and hopefully good trophies, that much more rewarding as you've indicated. It's much easier to determine on deer species though because the antlers are a dead giveaway. It's a bit harder with a warthog, bison, or similar animals but still doable. But with birds, felines, and canines, etc., it's just really the luck of the draw. Regardless, the hunts are tough, but really fun. And as for blending the two styles, I was pleasantly surprised myself. I think I might do it again. In fact, maybe real soon. I have some Parque footage (a lot more than I really expected) where I'm not speaking, but I still want to do some more hunting there, so that's a good candidate for a repeat. Lastly, thanks about the diamond. I know Gnu are one of the easier species to get them in, but it was my first, so I was ecstatic. Thanks again for the feedback, and you're welcome.
Happy Anniversary 🎂🥂! Fun to see some Mississippi and Silver Ridge. I haven't spent hardly any time on Mississippi, so its great to watch someone who knows it. Some great harvests in there too! That Sheep and the Muley got me excited! You got some good gators there too, just sorry the integrity didn't pull through for ya. With the gators being so low to the ground, it's tough to see them through the foliage! Thanks so much for sharing and I look forward to what the next year will bring for ya!! Good shooting my friend!!
Thanks CS. I really enjoy Mississippi and SRP. Might have to spend more time with the gators specifically. They're an interesting challenge. And I agree, the sheep and muley were particularly nice. Funny thing is, I was surprised at how much fun it was getting that turkey, but more so the 4 quail. That was the best I think I've hunted them. So that was a treat! Glad you watched my tribute and enjoyed it. Thanks again for the feedback and support. Best to you CS.
Honestly, it's been a real long time since I last played the game and I don't even remember everything. But thanks for the input. I'll keep it in mind the next time I race.
Hey, happy anniversary!! I'm looking forward to seeing what you put out! You know, this seems like it's the way to play this game. Most of the time with classic I get kinda bored watching tbh. I see people piling up kills from stands, camping fields or just quick clips, so it's nice to also see someone actually hunting. It kept me interested all the way through. Some good harvests and good shots in there too! The very last one was a great shot actually; you hit an off the cuff, moving shot there! Good stuff my friend!!
Thanks. It's right around the corner here on the 29th. I've actually still got to edit the video so I better get on it if I want it out on time. I hear you about watching other videos myself. I think that's partly why mine are the way they are because I prefer to watch a hunt instead of just a shooting gallery or trophy bragging. It's more worthwhile when you see someone work through the good and the bad to finally get a great prize. That's why I appreciate your videos and DD33's also. Just more real and relatable. And thanks for the comments about the harvests. I'm glad that last one worked out. A little mixture of skill/experience and luck. He was a nice one though. Thanks again CS. Good hunting to you as well.
Hey, that was fun! The game looks pretty good; it's nice to see a little more accountability with the licenses and fines for not bagging animals that you have killed. You got some good harvests in there, so congrats! I liked the look of that Muley. That one black bear didn't seem to want to go down for ya, but hey, it happens! Tracking looks to be a bit more of a challenge in this one as compared to other games? If so, Scamp will come through for ya once he's trained up some more. Good job and thanks for sharing!!
Thanks CS. I'm glad you enjoyed it! The game is fun in it's own way and part of that is it's take on licenses and fines. It's almost like your poaching if you shoot an animal and don't claim it. Thanks for the comment about the trophies. It's probably one of the big downsides to the game, in that after you fill all the plaques you don't really have much incentive to do more except to try to find higher scoring ones. I guess it's good that I mainly enjoy the hunt regardless of the trophies. Yes, the tracking is rough. At least for now. Like you said, if I can get Scamp leveled up it might get easier. Thanks for watching though. I appreciate it!
Hey, that was fun! I was kind of curious about this game and how it played, so I appreciate watching you play. It has some similarities to cotw and woth, but I think all good hunting games have to in a way. I always wished that cotw would let you put markers and customize the map like this one does, so thats cool!! I look forward to seeing more game play. Good job!!
Thanks CS. Glad you enjoyed it and it gave you some insight. It is a much simpler game compared to CotW and WotH and has some drawbacks, but it is still fun in it's own way. There are some things about it I really do like and wish other games would emulate. I think mainly if you go into playing it as another alternative with new scenery and challenges it can have it's place among the hunting games. WotH has the map markers in a way so that's good, but yes CotW could really benefit from having a similar feature like this game. Thanks again. And yes there will be more to come.
I fucking love this game. Got it soon after it came out. The new changes recently have been great imo. This game is like a horror game when youre solo lol
Yeah, I really enjoy Generation Zero a lot. The updates have kept improving the game immensely. And yeah, it's really crazy solo and I haven't even reached the more intense areas that I know about yet. It'll be interesting when I get there. I've been enjoying their other game Second Extinction before they pull the plug on it this year. But hopefully those battles will help me prepare for the later challenges in this one. So I agree with you. Thanks for your comment and feedback.
@Wellspring213 I know. That's why I'm amazed Second Extinction didn't gather a greater fan base. I know there are several players like myself who really enjoy the game and are still playing it probably for the same reason everyone else plays Helldiver's 2. It'd be really nice to see this game make a comeback, but that'll only happen if the gaming community gets vocal enough and petitions the company to make it happen. But from me personally, thanks for watching the video and providing your feedback.
Some good points in there!! For the full draw perk, I 100% agree. Draw weight irl is based on what the archer is comfortable with based on their size and strength to maintain accuracy. If all things are equal in the game, then each character's strength should have an ideal draw on a bow... Let's say the median average is a 60 pound bow; a 50 pound bow should be able to be drawn for longer without fatigue, and vice versa, a 70 pound bow should be drawn for a shorter period of time without fatigue. With your testing, they all have the same duration of time, regardless of draw weight, and seems suspiciously inaccurate, in regard to the character. So, it should increase the duration, in addition to considering the duration of the draw weight as well, I think. For pumping iron, that one is interesting... in reality it should only apply to the long bows and recurves and not "all bows". I'm gonna get a little nerdy here 🙂 The advantage to a compound bow is how it still has the same weight, despite the draw length when it's in the pocket (more or less); ie a 27" draw and a 29" draw (depending on the bow) will have the same weight applied because of it's design (which makes it ideal for consistency). Recurves and low bows, however, WILL defer in weight at certain draw lengths because the tension will always increase or decrease, in turn effecting the speed, penetration and consistency. Aligning with your take on what the perk should do, it does imply that you can take down an animal with a lesser grained arrow more easily, and in turn, also pass the harvest check. Because if it doesn't do that, then why bother with it? My wonder here is what the advantage would be at all though, as you can just buy the appropriate arrow grain and have a more dramatic effect without the perk. You might save a couple bucks on arrows? Thanks for taking the time to delve into it!! I am positive this took a long time for you to put together! I've always taken the descriptions for the perks at their word, so to see these side by side is SUPER comprehensive and helpful. You only get so many perk points, so knowing where to put them best is key. Cheers once again my friend!!
Wow, thanks for the feedback. Glad that you see the same Issue I saw with the Full Draw perk. I think if they were to adjust for each bow, then there could be some unique opportunities to play with when picking which bow to take hunting. There's some interesting potential. As for the Pumping Iron, I had thought about how compound bows are designed for easier drawing and more consistent shooting when I came up with the idea to make this video. But I forgot to address that when I actually made it. So, I thank you for your catching that and providing the background into how they work. Therefore, I agree, Pumping Iron might not apply to the compound bows, but more for recurve and low bows. But if that's the case, then it makes the perk even less worthwhile in its current application. Especially since it doesn't seem to provide any improvement at all. Hopefully, this will shed some further insight on the matter and maybe get the discussion rolling to see if the perks could be fixed, tweaked, or have a complete rework (if the last happens, I'm personally not looking forward to making a new video for the changes after making my current one, but I would still probably do it still.) As for making the video, you're welcome. It's always my intent to help others if I can and to try to make things better if possible. So, I'm glad this can provide insight into your own choices and help with your hunts. Thanks again. Happy hunting and cheers!
@@3Messenger7 Yeah man, I'm so glad you followed up with this video! It seems like a small oversight on the developer's part, but a little more attention to detail for the bows would really add to the realistic feel of them in the game. I think it really would add a lot more in a subtle way. Without your comparisons I never would have known, since I haven't seen it addressed anywhere else! Hats off to you for taking the time to put this together!
You're welcome. Plus if you take into consideration the compound bows weigh more than the recurve, the couple pounds could make a difference in your loadouts. So choosing a lower draw strength bow that does everything the same as a higher bow seems like a no brainer. As for the comparisons, I probably never would have thought about or realized it myself if I hadn't wanted to make the perk video like I did. So I'm glad it worked out the way it did and we now know better. Thanks again, and you're welcome as always.
Just a slight correction about the Body Control perk. I think the perk affects when you rotate around with a weapon in the iron sights, so when you aim left and right for example. It makes your rear sight align faster with the front sight post. At least that how i understand it
Thanks for the insight. That's very possible and something I may have to test out later. Just goes to show you how different people have different thoughts for the same input. I really appreciate the new idea and it's a great example of how working together can come up with new and sometimes better solutions than going it alone.
Thank you so much. I just reached level 60 and trying out different builds and this actually helped me to choose what perks to take because i just started to be mainly a bow hunter and iron sight musket hunter. I found for example that for my hunting style where i basically never grind large groups, i can easily live without fast reloading and only 1 in recoil managment and rather put these point into bows
You're welcome. I'm glad to hear this video is doing as intended and helping others make the best choices they need to for their style of hunting. Thanks for the feedback. Congrats on reaching 60th and good luck with your musket and bow hunting. Sounds like a good time with a lot of patience, stealth and getting up close and personal. Best of luck. Happy hunting!
I agree. Kneeling or prone would be much better. I was in a hunting stand and wouldn't be able to see using either of those positions. At least standing would be better to butt the gun against a pole or rest it on the wall, but the game doesn't account for that. 😁
Maybe you can help me to understand something... when shooting for game isn't it more of a challenge to hit the animal on the run as opposed to just standing still?? I never understood that. Let me know. Thankfully
The short answer is yes, it is more of a challenge to shoot a moving animal. But the purpose of shooting the animal is more complex. Hunting is broken down into two categories of ethical or unethical hunting. Ethical hunting has a couple different intentions. Where the person is either hunting for food or hunting for sport (to get a trophy). For an ethical hunter both try to drop an animal as quickly as possible. For food so the animal doesn't suffer too long. For trophy, that same reason, and also to not have to chase down their trophy for a long time or potentially lose it. Although sport hunting does have more of a chance to shoot at moving targets like birds. Someone hunting for food isn't going to want to risk losing a food source by adding in a challenge of a moving target. Unethical hunting is for sadists who want to intentionally hurt an animal for some sort of pleasure or just want to get something from it but don't care how the animal feels. This category can still include some sport hunters, but generally these are poachers and the like. All that being said, this is a game, and no living animals are being injured at all. But I still try to do my best to hunt ethically in it regardless of it being a game. And since I use a thumb-controlled trackball instead of a mouse, it's harder to line up a shot. Therefore, I prefer to shoot at a target that isn't moving that much. I hope this helps you understand it all a bit better. Thanks for the question.
