A lot of people have this impression that Tokyo is really expensive, however a cheap and fun way to enjoy different types of Japanese food is by buying Japanese street food!!! :D
A place that offers a lot of Japanese street food stalls is in Asakusa, Tokyo. If you are visiting Tokyo then Asakusa is most likely going to be a the top of your list and here are some of the street food shops I recommend trying out at Asakusa.
Nakamise dori street (Main shopping street in Asakusa)
Asakusa Kokonoe
(Agemanju, deep fried monja ¥170 and sakura bun ¥200)
Denpoin dori street
Asakusa Menchi ¥200
(Menchi katsu, deep fried minced meat)
Asakusa Kaede Wagashi
(Dango, Japanese sweet dumplings)
Chocolate sprinkle dango ¥200
Mitarshi sweet soy sauce glaze ¥130
Shin-Nakamise dori street
Sekine Nikuman ¥260
(Nikuman, steamed meat bun)
Asakusa Kurikoan
(Taiyaki, green tea macha filled taiyaki ¥176)
Apart from the Japanese street food and shopping in Asakusa there are many other things to see and do:
Kaminarimon (Kaminari Gate)
Sensoji Temple
Asakusa Shrine
Dempoin Temple
Kappabashi Shopping Street
Rox Department Store
Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center
Sumida River Cruise
Hanayashiki Amusement Park
Asahi Beer Tower
Taikokan (Drum Museum)
Woooahhh, that was a lot of information. If you read this far let me know in the comments whether you prefer the vlogging style(me holding the camera myself) or when I get someone to take it for me.
New video will be coming next week so don't forget to click the notifications alert! See you soon!

It's a crime she doesn't have more subscribers and views. Out of all the J-vloggers, she gives the best information on many things Japanese, the food, the culture, the out of the way spots to visit, all professionally done and fun to watch. A lot better than the typical J-vlogger videos of people doing the same things over and over, putting makeup on, going to maid cafe's, etc. etc. Plus she's quite beautiful too.

It's funny how Tokyo has a reputation for being super-expensive. Sure, there are very expensive meals and what-not there, but if you eat and shop like a local, it doesn't have to be too pricey. Each of those street foods would've been 2-6x more expensive here in Seattle.
@internationallyME
@internationallyME 7 лет назад
Yeah, it's actually pretty reasonable if you know your way around!
@genjii931
@genjii931 7 лет назад
And the quality of the cheap food in Tokyo seems to be far better than the cheap food here in America. You'd not want to eat any hot food from a convenience store from here, that's for sure.
@internationallyME
@internationallyME 7 лет назад
That's really true!! I think it's because in Japan especially in Tokyo there are so many businesses so there's lots of competition meaning that only the good quality will get you far!
@genjii931
@genjii931 7 лет назад
Speaking of taiyaki, we have a taiyaki food truck here in Seattle called Bean Fish. It's really great, but the prices are far higher, the cheapest one being $2.74 US, and the most expensive being $7.30, though the most expensive ones are the ones with savory fillings, so they have some type of meat in them. They just introduced a matcha one, though, so I'll have to try it soon. That'll have to tide me over until I can get to Tokyo next year some time.
@runwader
@runwader 7 лет назад
at ala moana mall in honolulu, shirokiya has a japan street food court area and theres a booth that sells it, on the wall they have the picture of the fish, and its only $1.50, but what you get is a tiny piece thats about 2 inches long and a half inch wide, no resemblance of a fish. what a rip off. now i get the packaged round ones that don quixote sells.

Mostly throughout, when you do the voiceover for the map your voice gets louder so it's perfect, but when it's back to the video it's a TAD loud with the background noise/music and your voice munbojumbo. It's not a big deal really!

Eating the street food looks like so much fun ! Thanks for the informative graphics showing the locations as well ! Cute outfit too, it looks nice and warm !! Personally I don't like vlog style because it is sometimes hard to see the actual location, all you can see is the presenter bouncing around. Also often times the focus is messed up. Of course maybe it is hard to always have someone help you film, but you can probably then mix vlog style with regular shots. Honestly I hate those youtube channels where the person just walks around for 20 minutes blabbing on vlog style about whatever comes into their head and hardly edits it at all.
@internationallyME
@internationallyME 7 лет назад
Hahaha! Your last sentence is the best! Yeah I get what you mean!! It's hard to always get someone to help me so sometimes I use my tripod but then everyone on the street stares at me haha. I'll try use a mixture of both!

I am seeing a difference in your films since you went to your workshop.(to be honest, I felt your videos were always perfect). the difference now is that everything is tighter. you do this without making the video feel rushed in any way, which shows you are very talented! I do hope you will always have a friend film you, it allows you more freedom of movement, as well as not having to be alone (life is always better with a friend around!) all I can say now is this : you are very lucky to live where you do, it is truly a paradise of food and culture! We, in turn, are lucky because we get to share in your adventures! Thank you!!

internationally ME I couldn't think of a better word, when you transition shot or cutaway, (it was never a problem in your older videos) but they have improved! everything about the camera shots are amazing! I feel I am seeing a video made by a network crew for TV or movie. at first I did think maybe a professional crew was following you!! your editing is always tops, which is why I didn't mention it before, but you have tweaked that as well! your attention to detail, along with your love of topic makes it very easy to understand why you tube would single you out. this is definitely your calling!!

Great video but please take more time to balance the music to your voice. Nearly impossible to hear your VO in parts of this video. Try EQing down 1kHz and 5kHz on the music when you have instrumentation like a piano in he arrangement. Your voice will come through much clearer without having to lower the music as much. Maybe use a compressor on your voice track as well to help make it a bit louder and more level. Keep up the great work!

1:47 No Skytree isn’t the tallest tower in the world it has never been the tallest tower, because Skytree was opened in May 22, 2012 with the height of 634m while Burj Khalifa was opened in January 4, 2010 with the height of 828m, 830m to tip. Therefore Burj Khalifa was and is the tallest building/tower in the world since January 4, 2010.

Two things I have to have every time I visit Asakusa:1. Ice cream. this special store is at the end of Nakamise Dori, to your right if you are facing Sensoji. It is actually on the temple square, facing Hozomon. It usually has a long queue in front of it. It is kind of like the soft serve ice cream cone we have here in US, but the flavors are definitely Japanses, you will never see most of these flavours in US. My two favourites are sesame and chestnut.2. Ramen. I guess most people do not consider ramen as street food. My favourite ramen store is on one of the side street off the right of Nakamise Dori, if you are facing Sensoji. I don't remember the exactly street, but it is closer to Hozomon than Kaminarimon. The specialty of that ramen store is all the eggs in their ramen are all double yoke.It has been a few years since I was in Asakusa the last time. Hope these two stores are still there!

You said "I'm actually getting quite full". And I was thinking 'this girl must have hollow legs'. Like where do you put it all. None the less I really liked you idea of 1,000 yen challenge and the variety. I'd heard about Japanese not approving of people eating while they walk, so for me that's a good reason to find a cafe and relax without upsetting the locals.

The street food is really cheap over there, so many types of food so little time. The Deep Fried Minced Meat looks really good and it reminds me of the Hash Browns at McDonalds. Every time I went to a Chinese buffet, I'd see the Steamed Meat Buns, but I never tried them, now I know. Seeing all the Taiyaki on the shelves, I thought that they were waffles. What a really cool and informative video! I like a mix of both styles of filming but I prefer when a friend films you because they can better show where you are and the scenery around you. I'm also a bit tired of all the vlog style videos out there and I like how yours are more professional.

They’re serious about the no eating and walking. If you buy food you’re expected to eat it standing in front of where you bought it. The other shopkeepers will give you hell if you even walk by their places before you finish.

Didn't you get thirsty after eating all the food? Beverage must cost something. Thank you though for focusing on the food, but for me, I'd get thirsty real fast.

I love your vlogs! Just a tip, when you talk, make sure you put the volume of your music down, otherwise it's hard to distinguish your voice from it

I really like your videos! Just one thing: the volume of the music is really high and sometime I struggle in hearing your voice. You definitely don t need all this music in the background

I'm new to your channel, and you might already have done a video of the sorts- but could you make a video about the language and everything one should study before going for a wholesome visit?

Interesting food and cheap too. How about the drinks though? I'm sure I would need to drink something, with all that food :)

I now know I need to be a bagajillionaire to get full on street food in Japan. I think I can eat 10 of those siopaos alone. Thanks for the video, BTW!

It's nice to see you in "vlog-style" i feel some closeness. But, it is also good to have a cameraman, because the viewer could see in wider point of view.
