Looks nice with defects, still plenty of room for improvements. Is that real samegawa? Looks like a mass production saya? They have a long way to go in order to compete with Z-Sey or Hunwei. Overpriced. Plain black iron fittings would be so much better.
plain and detailed is always better, they are a company that is growing, and making improvements as they go, and have seen it from 1st round...there gonna keep on improving...samewaga is real just not the real expensive sheets...there are some good companies out there to compete with...thanks for watching Tom
Thanks for bringing us this look at a beautiful sword. Wish I had the money to purchase one but at least you allowed us to take a good close up look at this awesome piece of art.
Thanks for that review Joe. I own this sword now and that blade outshines those few caveats you mentioned. And it's a one of a kind as Cloudhammer hasn't made any others with that same hamon.
Would of been nice if you removed the tsuka? Are the panels inlaid ? I am still not sure about the longevity of the leather ito. I did notice that Dragon Sword is advertising this same type of leather ito. The Fuchi and Kahira are nice, but the tsuba would be better in black iron and smoother. Excellent review.
Many thanks...I usually like to see the nakago but it was a piece that is going on sale so I didn't want to damage the goods....the pieces for what they are representing are better quality then what I've seen, but I like simple and detailed over over embellishments, that's just my taste....im sure others are using that leather but that is the first of swords I've held with it...thanks for watching
Hey Joe fantastic looking piece!!!! You gave me a idea I may get a cheaper one for my wall I’m working on my knife room and I’m stuck figuring out what else to do with the room!!!! I’m close I just need some finishing touches…… so the sward on the wall would look nice I don’t want the room to be gaudy thanks brother hope everything is good 😊
Brotha what hell you talking about, any display of the sword are separated broll, green screen is only my BS ing and so I can fantasize my own DoJo ...🤣🤣
My Hanwie practical has a better habaki fit, for $1,000 I would expect a full wrap of ray skin, as for the ito, looks like my Honbon was wrapped better, especially down by the kashira, premium quality,…at least there’s a nice acid etch on the blade,..looks like all the money went into the saya, for $1,000?,..no!!!
My argument on the sword for me was for 1k the price of the sword is going into first, the blade steel, hamon work, then the Saya, but when your looking to charge that much you better be sure the fit, finish and Koshirae quality are on par with the price
John said he would put a sword together with the same blade but I don't know how it would be the same just waiting for your review before I pull the trigger
Thanks for the comment. they are small issues that as addressed would make this an appealing option especially for the blade & Saya, kind of like the practical XL from Hanwei, very cheap tsuka maki fake ray skin and plain furniture but it's over 300 for the powerful blade alone...but yes I had to point out the great and the places where adjusting and improving is needed
@@JoeSteel1 It's the little things you pointed out that can make or break at this price point. It looks too mass produced to me to hold a $1000 price tag, including the saya. Hopefully they will see your review and fix those issues without upping the price.
