All sxs blog content is great …but this has to be one of my favourite ones in a while. Pumped about this series. I can almost feel the level of excitement that was happening during the unveils…and I could definitely feel the level of butthurt I could see on Leo’s face after 5 pulls 😂
I am pumped for this! Do a challenge pulling something like an ice fishing shanty on the ice with a turn mixed in there. You will have to go fast, slow down and turn and then get going fast again!
Hey guys, we want to Challenge your Challenge. This is our 8th year doing Cheap Sled (Snowmobile) Challenge and we think we've got some competition for you. The event is the last weekend in February in Da U.P. Head over to our channel and send us a PM if you're interested.
@@jacob1423 back when they had the sled on the old track with the table top maybe two years ago or so. They took it over their table top on the old track
There’s just something about sleds that you can’t un-love. They are expensive, you only get to use them a couple months of the year, and you keep coming back for more. Way she goes fellas. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say it’s the fact you don’t get to use them much that when you do, it never gets stale.
Freaking loved the video. I was highly entertained the entire time and now I want to do this with our friends! Looking forward to watching the contest! Leo's sled looks great but Rick rules so I'm interested to see how fast his machine is. And can I just say that I was blown away by the colors on Seus's sled! Yes! Ill be watching all your vids as usual but Id actually love to see a video of you guys on some trails with the sleds. Have fun!
For sure!! I would absolutely LOVE to know how fast these babies actually are top end!! I grew up dreaming about having either an Indy or XCR Indy 600 and then a SRX 700 later on!! Those SRX's were Soo super quick and seemed to be very fast top end too!!
Loving this, hill climb, drag race, mud bog,and a fifty mile poker run.👍❤️.Doug’s father should be in charge of the poker run,you get your directions from each check in point for the next 10 miles, see who can navigate and go fast both.
I need to see Sous, Rick, Sous and Frank in the old school 90's snow suit. You guys should also do this like Top Gear where whoever breaks down has to drive the 2-stoke X3 with tracks and ski's.
Bad advice don’t get a tundra. tundras are a utility sled. utility snowmobiles are not like utility atvs, utility atvs can be trail driven just fine and work as an all around use machine. Utility snowmobiles are strictly built for just utility work. Terribly slow, EXTREMELY heavy, and not designed for trail riding or ditch banging in anyway shape or form. Do exactly what SXS guys did and buy a cheap 90s snowmobile. You can find complete running working 96-99 polaris 500 for less than a grand, sometimes less than $700. They’ll have cosmetic damage but there isn’t a single sled out there without cosmetic damage. For a first sled a 500 or 600cc sled of basically any of the major 4 sled manufacturers (polaris, skidoo, arctic cat, or yamaha) from the 90s through early 2000s will all be cheap, reliable, and easy to find.
Windshield wizards seriously just check whatever you look at buying really well, DEF wanna do a compression test because these guys were beyond lucky that someone didn't have at least 1 dead cylinder of the bunch!!! So compression test, check track for dry rot and any deep or really bad cracks etc! After that it's just do some serious maintenance before the snow flies so that when it does finally snow that you can start it and go snowmobiling when the snow finally does come!! Personally I'd look for any 500, 600 or 700 Yamaha 2 or 3 cylinder sled from late 90's to early 2000's, SX, SRX and SXR 500, 600 and 700(the SRX was quite a bit faster with a Power valve engine that made much more power!), also basically ANY year Polaris XLT (Xtra Light Triple came in 580, 600 and maybe a 700 too not positive), and then the XC, XCR and most any Indy models in 500, 600 and 650 as well as the 700 and 800 too. The Indy 500 is one of the most reliable, good running sleds i have ever seen, in the last 40 years!!! **But anything in decent shape, and maintained will probably do just fine for ya, don't hesitate to have a mechanic come with you to check it over before buying, that could be the best $150 bucks, or whatever, you could ever spend!!!
Same here, but the new(we) sleds we dreamed about were these sleds!! But once we were up into our mid-teens and above we actually had some of these sleds, finally after years of messing with 60's garbage, some 70's crap and some 80's stuff too..
Hey now, that Polaris has so many upgrades to fix that oil issue to cylinder 1 it's definitely a bad ass sled when it's running, go to the 50:1 conversion and the jetting kit they recommend with it and that thing is evil
This is a great video. Here’s some ideas: - fastest top speed (gps/gun) - fastest from a dig/drag race - hottest hand warmers? (temp gun) - lightest weight? - fuel mileage? - most reliable (not sure how’d this be done) - overall fun factor rating? - best cornering/handling
freaking awesome video guys! i have never ridden a sled, but i had never ridden a sport sxs when i found you channel. you have something real special with all the personalities available for your content. so excited for this challenge fellas!
For break downs. Use simple on trail tools to see which ones are most user friendly and versatile. This is going to be on of the best series you guys put on! It reminds me of top gear!
This is right in my wheelhouse. I grew up on this era of sleds. Looking forward to more of these challenges. Also, I swear I just saw that ski doo on marketplace recently. It has very unique graphics...not the stock ones it came with. I'm sure that was it. I'm in Michigan not far from you guys.
This idea is awesome can't wait to see the challenges. Doug and Mike got the best sleds, those red top yamaha triples are the best triple snowmobile engine ever made, they are bullet proof and sound so good, everything else from that era was a blow up machine.
A challange should be if you guys get snow, race around a track, anything goes. 10 laps, do a jump, a stop and go, maybe even fill it up during the race. Winner gets 7pnts and so on. We do vintage runs in MN and we screw around the whole time. At stop signs we will run to our buddies sled and take their key or while driving we will ride next to them and smash their kill switch!! It's a blast!! I love snowmobiling 10x more than racing and duning my SxS. Nothing like fresh powder and smooth trails!
I am HYPED for this series! I would’ve smoked y’all with the sled purchase portion of the challenge 😂 but this will be the most hilarious series I think yet 🤣🤣 I’m a snowmobile guy till I die like Doug is, I’m going to live vicariously thru y’all for this one hahah
some of free mods on the redheads triples. take a layer out of the head gasket for more squish. raise the needle a clip since they are rich. drill a 2 inch hole on the bottom of the muffler. this will help wake it up. reed spacers. 42.5 main jets will also help if in the budget. one of the redheads is gonna win overall.
Absolutely correct, and a clutch trick (grind) so it can shift out completely (like an overdrive). So simple and basic! Also swap out the center shock from a 600sx and it’ll float over the bumps on a washboard trail.
Watched this , part 2 and part 3 with my daughter. She is obsessed with old sleds 🤣. When she seen Matt's 440 sno pro and that ZRT 600 she looked at me. We were both hooked. Not into SxS but this was a great series . Go cat. Team arctic . From Saskatchewan Canada.
On the ultrasonic cleaner if you fill the tub with water then put parts in containers filled with the cleaner of choice and submerge it in the tub you’ll use a lot less cleaner and you won’t have to clean the tub each time, plastic glad containers work, even baggies as long as they don’t leak.
I (knowing ABSOLUTELY ZERO about snowmobiles) just bought my first sled, a 2004 Polaris ProX 2 $500. 3300mi, needed nothing mechanically besides carbide and drive belt. Cosmetically, it needed a windshield, bumper, and hand guards. I purchased everything and I’m all in for $820. Idk if I got a good deal or not but I’m stoked to take it on my first ride soon
Super excited about this challenge! These are my era of sleds! I was having flashbacks during the unveiling. All I can say is, I have owned about half of the sleds you guys picked up, and your about to go on quite a journey. 🤣
This is way cool - I love seeing this type of content. I look forward to the next episode to see what the new challenge will be. Will there be a best of 2022 coming too?
