I instantly went from loving DoorDash to hating them over this update. I think we drivers need to organize a boycott & class-action suit

I don't know how they justify tracking that sort of thing. If we are not employees, why would they care?

I noticed the update last weekend. The reason why I speed (not too much!) is because I am trying to get the food to the customer QUICKLY! I dont want to spend too long on one order. You would think that door dash could figure that out.

I see it and I don’t like it. I’ve been driving for almost 40 years. I don’t need to see their crap lol

I googled how to turn it off because I wasn’t even speeding and they gave me bad numbers

the bad thing about this new tracking is that you cant opt out or shut it off, you can only set it to notify you less or not at all. this info they are collecting will be used against us at some point because that is the way doordash is headed after seeing all these recent updates and the road they are traveling.

I am seeing the same offers in Miami. What's killing me is the bumper to bumper traffic. I am really thinking about taking offers, max 3 mile distance. If I go further out, I am just burning gas sitting in traffic. Nice video

Its to sell your info to insurance companies. OnStar did that and one lady's insurance went up 600 a year.

For about a month now in California on DD we've had that little picture showing the last successful delivery so you know what the door looks like. It is so helpful. Also on Uber this new thing if its a "hand to me" when you get close to the customer if they have their location on it shows you a little blue circle with their name and their exact location on the property that you're delivering to. Both very helpful updates to the apps.💜💛

DD has started tracking in MA

Who are they to judge our driving what if your not even driving and someone else is.. How is their driving your fault.. Smh doordash getting worse and worse

I’ve been doing delivery full time the past few years and I find that busy days are on constant rotation. One week a busy day could be on Monday and the next week could be Wednesday and Thursday. So I just stay consistent with scheduling and my earnings are about the same every week.

My husband told me about this it has happened to him they said he was speeding 🤦‍♀️

It’s completely dead lunch time and afternoon here in Orlando so I switched to dinner and midnight shift and it’s much better earnings so far despite slow April.

It's on my app. I know exactly why each time I've had to hard brake. Yes, animal running in front of car included. Also, someone just crossing the street, not in a crosswalk, without looking. And, a car pulled out of a side street.

Awe man! Those road trip offers are insane. I had one this morning at $4.03 going 26.8 miles. That was a hard no.

Uber is slow but when they are ready you can get some good orders. I substitute w them when doing GH or when GH is slow.

WOW! I thought I was the only one who was getting this type of treatment. I was Top Dasher for 6 months straight. I actually enjoyed Dashing. Now, not at all. They may give me a schedule for 30 minutes to an hour, maybe twice a week. I might get 3-4 orders in that time. I drove to a city 50 miles from home that is BUSY all of the time. I get there and click my Dash Now button. - Nothing! 45 minutes I waited. No calls. What a waste.

I'm 62 years old with an impeccable driving record for decades. I don't need DD telling me how to drive my own vehicle. 😅

im thinking about giving up my top dasher status and going back to just scheduling and picking the better orders

I started having the thing pop up about my driving last week. Whenever I finished a dash it would show it as well. I turned it off not to see it but I’m sure they are still tracking us regardless. I live in Florida and we have wildlife running all over the place and old people who cut you off daily. How can we not hard-brake? Also I don’t see the problem with fast acceleration isn’t the whole point to get items to people on time or early? As long as we are not going a crazy amount above the speed limit and getting tickets it’s not really their concern.

Wow that's crazy how $12 an hour to you is bad you must be in a really nice area normally because before I lost my vehicle I was dashing the night shift from around 8:00 p.m. until midnight 1:00 or 2:00 a.m and I was lucky to make an entire shift average of more than $10 an hour. 😲 because I didn't accept the trash orders and that late at night there isn't any orders coming in to begin with. 😔

Oh I just got a notification yesterday...NE Tennessee apparently I was breaking too hard... hummmmmm yeah I was bcuz I had to avoid the vehicle in front of me that decided to just stop in the middle of the road bcuz they had no idea where they were going. just ridiculous!!! DD need to stop spending money on this crap and pay drivers more. . i almost NEVER get a good chick fl a offer these days...my AR is 7% and I still make 25-35 per hour on average.. but we did just get a Chipotle in my town and the drive thru is ONLY for mobile and delivery orders... woohoo!!

I have that on my app right now and every day it's the one or two times accelerating or heartbreaking it's kind of annoying and if you left out of it there's still tracking that you just won't see it

my insurance already does that tracking me on that, What insurance is everyone useing. Everytime I mention Door dash they turn me down. Uber eats is okey. Whay th heck is the difference they do the same thing.

You should look into delivering for tampa bay loco. All restaurants made their own delivery company in tampa

And the rapid breaking and the rapid takeoff on the Doordash I have it in my state in Utah and it’s done nothing but help me on my gas as well as my brakes. It helped me realize how much I was speeding off from stop signs or red lights or green lights and then also it’s help me every time I’m going through a neighborhood which 80% of the time we’re driving through neighborhood and hitting all the stop signs. It’s bad on our brakes and it’s helped me to where I’m not justaccelerating on my break and then pounding too hard. I light press it prior to now it actually helps me is what I’m trying to say.

Those offers from Uber should be illegal. It's incredibly absurd.

DoorDash keeping track of my driving is no big deal, I just opted out. If I find out later that it’s meaning something I’ll just shut down my phone and turn it back on a block or two from the delivery.

They have it where I am in Texas but you’re able to turn it off.

My reg delivery vehicle is incapable of accelerating quickly, I still get pinged for “hard acceleration”. I drove my sports car for a shift and got pinged almost 20 times in 3 hours. Basically whenever I had to use 1st gear.

I always get those pictures for months now and yeah it’s other dashers drop off pictures I thought everyone gets those

For the past week every time I end a Dash now that screen pops up. It tells me how many times I breaked hard and how many times I accelerated fast. Don't know why they are doing this now. It's of no interest to me to know how many times I did it. I drive as safely as I can and if I had to break hard or accelerate fast there was a reason for it. Sending love from Los Angeles 💜💛

It showed up on my phone today out of the blue. Told me i accelerated to fast twice. I ways able to opt out of them tracking that.

It reprompted me on the tracking bs it said 8 hard accelerations which I haven't gone crazy I'm in a honda accord hybrid which is why initial is quick but never pedal to the metal total violation of what I'm doing as ic

Yeah the driving style tracking wouldn’t even be a “thing” if they didn’t give us 2 minutes to get to a pickup & 5 minutes to drive 5 miles in heavy traffic… so it’s their fault if I’m having to speed up or break hard- how I see it anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

As far as restaurants not putting their orders on the delivery racks for easy access, they do that so people don’t steal the food. And I’m glad they do it because I’ve had too many of my orders stolen.

Wednesdays are the worst. I don’t do anything but catering orders on Wednesdays.

Also, why do you not DoorDash at night? I’ve been doing DoorDash for years and I make more money after 10 PM to 1am then I ever do on a weekend for dinner rush! Then again, Arizona is different too, but you gotta take some risk out there. If you’re willing to make the money you have to be willing to take some risk.

A lot more drivers should be quitting over these crappy offers that have become the norm now. But instead everyone is addicted and will continue to spend more time declining trash than actually working. Or working for peanuts.

They need to start asking what the driver wants too since it’s a partnership. Would it be too difficult for them to start a survey to get the drivers opinion on the matter? How much money did they spend on that update anyway? It’s not good IMO. I would have voted against it.

I've been on many skip shifts, which where I live is the best food delivery app. they tend to give you more orders when your car is moving, as opposed to sitting, and not waiting right outside restaurants. obviously it depends on the shift and day of the week when most people tend to order. it also makes you accept all orders- even though I know some people are cheap, but then you can get extra tip if the order takes longer to be picked up. having worked on the opposite end of making skip/uber orders, I get it, and when drivers pick up two orders it's because those people were cheap tippers. basically it should equate to you doing 2 orders/hour

What I've realized as a fairy new driver the system follows what orders u accept if u accept $3 orders that's what u gonna get if u accept $10 orders same thing cuz I'm not accepting less than $7 dollars unless its an add on 2 or 3 miles and it's from the same restaurant

I hate the speed and braking update. I drive a manual transmission and my driving is the same as always. It’s not the same as driving an automatic transmission. Yes, I accelerate fast because that’s how you drive a stick shift. 🙄

Taking videos and photos are the best thing you can do!!! The wife and I always do videos and pictures when we go on vacation or even a stay cation. Time flies by to fast!!!

Personally, I think it's a bunch of BS micromanaging. Why should they micromanage us if we're independent contractors. If they start doing this in my area they going to have a fit when they see the way I drive. Very safe but also very aggressive.

It sounds like DoorDash is trying to solve one problem by labeling it as another. Maybe they are trying to reduce the number of complaints caused by driver behavior that impacts the quality of the food. As a customer, I can't count the number of times I have received a 'food order' and it was all squished to one side of the container :)

Personally, I think they’re going too far with this. I don’t really know what they’re using this information for. That being said, It could be a good thing as it shows people when they’re breaking too hard or accelerating too fast when they have customers orders in their car. I am a pretty mellow driver and generally calm and I have had zero of either the quick acceleration or breaking. If someone cuts in front of you, you immediately let off the gas and give them space and in most instances that will be enough. Of course, if they cut in front of you and then Push the break to the floor that will be a different story. If you’re just paying attention, you can avoid almost every situation and you shouldn’t have to do either of those things. Then again, this is America and people drive like crap. In fact, I’m often surprised by how crappy the drivers are these days, especially after having driven overseas for 13 years. We really need to do better as far as testing new drivers.

Better get that Acceptance Rate up to 70 or you ain’t gonna be getting any orders or any hours to work really soon and ppl with high numbers are still making BANK!!!
