wow, this must have taken a lot of work. Much appreciated though, I love the visual prompts of the stamps being shown when you guys drop scott numbers; as a listener (and now watcher) it really helps.
sorry to be off topic but does someone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot my password. I would appreciate any help you can give me
@Oscar Carson I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
One of my friends did a nice find few months ago. He attended from the Netherlands to a PSS meeting in America and bought some precancels, 1 with Racine precancel. Back home he thought something to see with the perforation. Got stamp certified, it's an 511a. It's a real transitional perf 10 at bottom with the first 3 perf holes at left perf 11.
Thank you guys . I have been a numismatic for over 40 years specializing in errors and variety coins. I find the same thing with a lot of my customers and people I deal with. They always think they found the big one unfortunately the stamp community and coin community run across this daily. With that being said, I have been enjoying stamps for about 15 years now and I have acquired a small collection a number of years ago that had 45 Chicago pre-canceled one cent. Also, being a garage machinist at best I do know how to use a digital caliper, so hopefully with that and a proper template, I myself will take my chance to see if I have one… lol
My family have collected Stamps.before 1900 ,I have several 596 used a pair of unused 613 and many off that time Rotary perf 11my knowledge of these Rare Stamps .They were Printed and given to the Military,in Australia and on The Ships heading to Australia before and early in War Two.
A final point: I definitely don't have one of these Scott 594 or 596 stamps and I'd bet my entire stamp collection that neither does any of the people on here who claim they have.
I found piles of stamps in my attic a lot in books unused and a lot in envelopes and tons on postcards, the ones on post cards were stuck in old postcard books found a lot of late 1800’s and early 1900’s stamps on backs. Nice post cards some bit so great but the stamps on back is what I want to start learning but some of the post cards are worth money I do not want to keep them definitely selling but have to learn what I have first.
Your video was one of the most informative so many thanks for putting it out. I am fairly sure I have the one-cent Franklin stamp you discussed. What would recommend I do?
Years ago i visited an antique store which had post cards from 1936 post marked but i was surprised to see this Franklin one cent stamp on it. And purchased some of these post cards to remove the stamps from. Stupid me? Did i make a terrible mistake in carefully removing the stamp from the post card from 1936? One sold for $85,000.00 having the post card in tact. Bummer! I believe the post card and the addreess as well as the person who sent it and the girl friend who received it may have made the stamp so much more valuable historically. One came from Niagra Falls and i no longer kept the post card it came on. It was received in Oklahoma. What if it came to a prominant person or a poet, or proliffic writer ? Would it be more valued than just the face value of the current value? The Franklin one cent stamp is off set. With the top of the border perforated slightly. Also it looks like this stamp had been exposed to sunlight as it looks faded and not a hunter green. The printing looks very sharp..What is it worth?
Interesting. I'm a GB specialist and have a stamp that also has exactly 9 copies (2023 correction - now 10 as another has been discovered, which I now own!) known. It's an inverted watermark example on 1d Red plate 9. (I'd put a link to a scan of it but the scan has my name on it, which I'd rather keep private) Yet it wouldn't fetch anything like $175000 (I'd reckon to get between £3000 - £5000). In the same way, there are just 7 1d Red SC perf 16 Die 1 plate 168 stamps in existence. A good friend has 2 of them. They would fetch perhaps £10000 in auction. I wonder if it's because Scott lists that Scott 596 stamp as a separate catalogue number and collectors want to get one of every number? The 1d Red plate 9 with inverted watermark is not even listed in the Stanley Gibbons specialised catalogue: that's how rare it is.
King Curry good morning Sir. Very happy to know you are a GB specialist. I want to show you an error stamp of GB. Please allow me. Thanks Sir in advance.
I recently inherited a large collection of stamps and a shoebox full of 1900-1930 postcards - with the majority of them having the green 1 cent, since I can't view the back - what's the best way to check - a perf gauge and the color?
Good review guys. Rare is an important term for the treasure hunter - there are perhaps billions of the common ones, you are about like lottery chances on these really rare items (less than 50 known)
I have about 6 Ben franklin Stamos on post cards from the ,1930's all seem to be they same except one . This one has the darker green color. One came off the post card and has the color on the back, but Is not the darker color one. Just needing a little advice.
Hey there!!! Thanks for the informative video. It appears I have a franklin 1 cent stamp with no green on the back🤔. Are there any indicators, other than the ones mentioned, that I can look for to confirm its a jackpot or a bust?
I googled the 1 cent franklin because I had about 12 total. 2 were together on a postcard and the color is almost a gray. Wigh a green cast. Much different than the other 10. You can put them side by side and and the 2 are visibly larger. His head seems a bit wider too. Those 2 came off the same sheet and are still one piece. Im excited to let a professional take a look. Im never this lucky so its probably something worthless but I can say everything checks out according to this video. And I use vernier, and dial calipers daily. And they are the right size too. One in a million I know but it would be nice!!@
If the image on the stamp is 19,25 mm wide and 22,50 mm high, and the perforation on all four sides is 11, then it is 596. If the picture is 19,50 mm wide and 22,25 mm high and has perforation 11 on all four sides, then it is 594 and it is worth 35,000 dollars. This man in the video, although he is American, does not explain exactly.
Hi guys! Enjoyed the video. Thanks for making it. I do have questions about measurements of the design size. If the listed measurements in the catalogue are approximate measurements and not exact, what kind of a +/- tolerance is allowed? I have also seen different publications list different measurements for a 596. Stamp Smarter lists the measurements for a 596 at 19x22 1/2. Linn's has them at 19 1/4x22 1/2. A site called Swedish Tiger has them listed at 19 1/2x22 1/2. Which measurements are correct? I ask that because some people do not have the Scott Cat. available to them. I thank you in advance.
@@stampshowheretoday9593 Thanks for the reply back. From all of the frames I have measured up to this point, I have noticed that +/- tolerance is at most, .15mm. Most of the time it is .10 or less. Maybe I get too technical about things. I just want to be 100% correct before moving on to the next one. I am sure with time, I will be more relaxed about it all. Thanks once again.
@@johndoe9000 good morning Sir. I am Ravinder Mohan Kundra, Punjab India. Last year you talked about the different measurements of the Scott 596 . If you got the right measurements then tell me. I shall be very thankful to you to solve my very long time problem. Once again thanks Sir in advance.
Okay so i scrutinized very seriously my collection of 1 cent franklin stamps for weeks and i am %99.9 sure that i have 2 of the stamps sought after but what do i do now?
I HAVE 100 POSTCARDS FROM BENJAMIN FRANKLIN OF 1 CENT AND IT HAS 11 PERFORATIONS ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE POSTCARDS AND THE GREEN INK PASSES UP TO THE BACK OF THE POSTCARDS
Thank u my friends.I have stamps from all over the world, mongolia, Italian, Chinese, Japan, etc, they show videos of these n more Countries n my stamps are RARE AS THEY SAY IN THE VIDEOS.. or can u direct me to the proper place to sell mines, I promise they will Thank u for it. But I THANK U IN ADVANCE MY FRIENDS FOR SHARING YOUR UNIQUE WISDOM WITH 🙏 ME.
Hi gentlemen, I have received a huge lot of old stamps and would love your opinion on their condition and value. Oddly enough I live in Henderson as well. Hope to hear back.
I recently inherited a pile of these...also, 2 cent Washington's and some really cool others but I have no idea how to sell them. I've tried Facebook, and some other platforms but I have no idea about stamps. Can you please help me sell my collection? I'll cut you in 10% of ALL profits and I'm not joking about having piles of them.
Please...I'm Positive I have at least 2 "Prime Real-estate" stamps and possibly several others still valuable. My brother and I inherited PILES on PILES of antique stamps from ALL over the world. Also have: 2 cent George Washington's(Red andGreen), 1cent Benjamin Franklin's(Blue and Green), various other countries(France, Italy, Germany, Ireland, England, and more from Spain and more European countries), and Miscellaneous. Long story short, I NEED help selling them so to the person who can ACTUALLY help, I'll split ALL profits with them 50/50!!!! I figured since I didn't really earn/personally collect them and the only reason I had the chance to inherit them was the fact that someone related to me risked their own life and freedom traveling the world during some of the World's most horrible Wars and had the habit of saving letters(I'm sure it was more for the sentiment in the writing)and passed them along with the family to keep their story alive. Those types of gestures do run in the family and I'd love to be able to give back to pay it forward somehow
I have several of the stamps that I discovered on my grandparents obituary cards. My grandmother came to TX in a covered wagon and her husband died of lung cancer a few years later. He built the first catholic church in TX. Who should I call to look at them? They're attached to the cards.
ThAnks, check around reputable Dealers, Collectors…….Interestingly I spent many happy (?.)hours parsing these issues ; using HE HARIS SLIDE RULE/ Diagram Set up ( like on Video)….. unsure about Rarities in my Accumulations……literally 100/thousands of these commons….to screen
I found a bunch of these and others in some items I bought at a moving sale letters dating back to the 1900s last letter was 1938 would yall be interested 8n checking them out
now im more confused. have a stamp collection from my step-grad father and have 11 of theses stamps some dark green ad some lighter, one has no perforation on top. i have one that looks perfect only one does not have paper stuck to the back
my stamp is pasted to a postcard, and it isn't cancelled -- as if the writer never sent the postcard. How do I get it safely off the card, to examine the back? It does seem limited to 19mm X 22mm, so I guess not exceptional.
I have a whole list of such stamps, but I don't know who to turn to and send pictures to assess the value. They stand like that in a drawer and I have no idea anything about this
Hello I'm not for certain but I'm almost positive I might have this dark green Ben franklin 1 cent stamp.. there's noooo ink on the back, clean n just barely bigger than the other stamps when lined up with each other!?? Do u mind contacting me .. I have a few stamps.. including the Christopher Columbus just a couple from the set.. need help! Lol..
damn ive got one, i bought a Stamp Album with around 100 Stamps... at least 35 were these right here....does it have to be exactly the dark green color ??? because most of mines are in Dark Green color.
Hi, I'm from India. I've been following you on internet. I too have been a stamp enthusiast. Now that I am nearing the end of my journey, I would like to sell my collection . Would you be so kind and enlighten me as to where I can do so.
