A 139QMB carb for a 49cc gy6 really wakes up that little motor. i upped the jet to a #80 and it has so much power the clutch slips even at high speeds. the bfg upgraded clutch solved that problem and I can go up hills with no trouble. my motor is on a schwinn scooter so there is no pedal assist. I cut the muffler off the pipe and welded on a briggs 8hp sausage mufffer and that made even more power.

I had a similar bike engine kit, was a 49cc 4 stroke with 4g belt transmission totally silent. I rode for 3 years to & from work every day was awesome. Throughout that time I added a sick bike parts jack shaft & eliminated the spoke sprocket which gave me 7 gears. Also added lights mirror front shocks leather seat. The primary reduction drive is chain and is a 3-1 and is for the Pit and Pocket bikes on small wheels. Ideal is a 6-1 reduction like the T-belt ones. If you can fit a 56t rear sprocket, this should bring the ratio close to where it should be and ease the clutch and pedaling on hills. I have a 39cc OHV 4st engine outboard LHS by the rear wheel. it is a geared reduction of 6-1 and till have a 48t sprocket due to the engine size.

I bought a pair of saddlebags off of eBay, and used it on my small motorbike, but I thought that it would cover the motor on one of these as well, as I have just finished putting one of the two-stroke models on my mountain bike you just cut a hole in the saddle bag and it fits tightly over the petrol cap, then when the cap is on it locks the bag down and should hide the motor. They were pannier bags I think and cost around five bucks.

Finally, got a good one. The advantage of the ebike. I don't worry about the cops as the thing is silent. The negative. I'm 225lbs and get about 15 miles just using throttle. You should be able to start from rest by just twisting the throttle without pedaling. Also it should be able to handle hills without pedaling as well. I can see what you are missing is the choke switch, which is the white plastic that you didn't touch at all, and is left at the closed position all the while, that's why you're not getting enough power. You are supposed to close it when cold-starting the engine, and then open when it's already running, where the bike can be operated like a regular scooter. With the choke operational and you still have the same issues, then your centrifugal clutch is faulty.

Bicycles and motorcycles have top speed roughly 31mph times the cube root of the horsepower, provided the gearing is such that top speed is at the RPM corresponding to peak hp. 1.4kW = 1.88hp and the cube root is 1.23. 31x1.23=38mph, so that works out.

Would it be better for the hub at the back to be a modern disk hub for bikes and machine a sprocket big enough to sit on the disk brake holes to make it a better built sprocket? Maybe alignment issues would occur. Also your rockhopper looks the part.
@arksrandom5968
@arksrandom5968 Год назад
The issue with a rear brake disc is the little amount of space you have available to actually put one in, if you DO however have enough space then you need a sprocket adapter for the rear wheel hub and then a disc brake adapter that can be bolted onto the sprocket itself

The 2 strokes aren’t worth not. Not unless you get one from a builder which basically includes nothing of the original (not the case, not the bearings, crank (well unbalanced) Almost nothing. @@mmark8394got a 2 stroke. Had problems with it after a month. I agree that it wasn't babied, but that kit had big carburetor problems and the acceleration handle just broke. My magneto failed, the spark plug boot just broke the metal part on top of it, one of the 3 nits the clutch was mounted on broke and my chain snapped 4 times. And in the end the engine decide to blow a gasket. But yeah, two stroke are reliable (if they are not turned on).
@JenniArmstrong
@JenniArmstrong Год назад
This would be great if it wasn't a complete kludge. That whole crank replacement thing is absurd, the rear sprocket on the spokes will 100% bend them and ruin a normal bike wheel, and the engine mount isn't going to work on so many bikes. Even though the center-o-gravity would be weird, IMO, this engine oughta go behind the seat, and the fuel tank belongs in the triangle where the engine went. Seems like you could share the main cassette with the regular chain, but ultimately this design needs a freewheel on the pedal crank to really be solid. And i've never seen one of those.
