Matara, Sri Lanka ➖ The day has finally come for me to try a dish that's been on everyone else’s list of must-eat foods in Sri Lanka - Chicken & Cheese Kottu. I can't think of anything better than heading down to the local restaurant, eating with the locals and settling in with some good ol' Sri Lankan cuisine! Join me and my friend ‪@GoWithAli‬ as we stuff our faces with kottu, hoppers and an unexpected ginger beer hunt, which was totally worth it!

Incase you wanna try the the Elephant House Ginger Beer, which is called EGB, it is the brown bottle that can be seen in the top middle tray at 23:52

Machang, you missed the Ginger Beer. They were just on the tip of your nose... on the top shelf. Ask for "EGB" (Elephant Ginger Beer). 1000 times better than Lion brand. Sip while eating spicy Sri Lankan meal... complement each other well. Have fun. Be safe!

I've been watching your videos for a long time but unfortunately RU-vid decided to recommend this video to me 2 months later. What a coincidence that I found it now and I'm happy that you visited my country. And also, Elephant house ginger beer and kottu is the best combo. You should have tried it while eating kottu. ( I highly recommend it)

Elephant ginger beer was there just next to the shelf where you got the Lion ginger beer. You just missed it . It’s also name as EGB ( Elephant ginger beer). Try it next time 😊 best to have along with kottu.

Luke , you explained very well how Kottu evolved as delicious food in Sri Lanka. I have heard about Kottu since the 1980s, according to my memory. Enjoy it. Elephant Ginger Beer is really good.

The famous brand of the triangular cheese can be found in supermarkets in many countries; That egg funnel looks delicious, it must be even better with ketchup; Sorry, don't know if this is going to offend you, I hope not, but I'm just curious what happened to your finger? Here in America our jamaican/west indian stores sell ginger beer too and it's pretty good. They carry a brand called solo which makes a bunch of different sodas. Only problem is it's like 100g of sugar per bottle

IMO, the juiciest/yummiest/most delicious cheese koththu is one that has been cooked in milk, sort of like Bechamel sauce used with pasta. Some people don't like a very wet koththu, but it's my absolute favourite. Don't know if this one was made like that.

Matchan, what you had was not the real cheese Kottu !!!, Cheese Kottu should be covered in cheese and cooked with fresh milk. Better try somewhere else like (The Kottu Factory, Cafe 4 U, Thenuka food corner or The Dutchman's Street) at Matara to taste the really flavors of a cheese Kottu. Meanwhile, since you're at down south of Sri Lanka, do visit Wijaya Beach at Unawatuna (Near to Galle). You can have delicious food with the coolest beach view ever :) "One of the best chillaxing places I've visited in down south, Sri Lanka" Cheers mate ! Travel safe

Your videos are so great that when I saw you uploaded a new video, i was watching one of my favorite movies, paddington the bear lol with my family (a hilarious movie really). But you conflict me lol, because I also want to watch this video.
