@banana_necessary to be fair anything relying on this delta in accuracy would have the human element removed completely. And not be relying on a wristwatch. +2/-2 seconds over a day. 24 hours. No one wearing a mechanical watch has ever been left behind or move forward in time.

As a traveler it‘s „anything but Rolex“ for me. Besides the risk of getting robbed there is the „flex culture“, these watches are often worn by people to show off their success, at least financially. I don‘t want that to the first impression people get.

Depends where you travel. I travel every week on business and am happy to stick to the luxury end as I don't usually venture anywhere too public. I travel at least twice a year for pleasure and then I tone it down.

If you can afford the expensive gear then you have no excuse not to have the cheap one as a city backup. A friend who worked in field operations always used gel pens for his work for their reliability but when the moment came to get the service order signed from the customer he would hand them a mont blanc pen. This was an amazing impression because if you are dropping a couple grand on a service that signature is worth that much.

I think it can heavily depend on a variety of factors, given that my education background was in engineering after seeing it in your videos I fell in love with and have purchased the Tactile Turn Bolt Action pen. On the other hand I could never see myself going with a luxury lighter, I don't smoke and if I were to have a pocket lighter I'm more likely just going to take a bic lying around home.

@@mrEtanMW So wrong. Rolex is the equivalent of Mercedes. People who can afford Bugatti and RR will still consider Mercedes as a luxury car. Like Mercedes, Rolex also have very high end models that can cost just as much as the most exclusive brands. Unlike Mercedes tho, their «lower end models » are still more exclusive than Mercedes « lower end models ».

Casio world timer is a great watch but buttons are large and easy to inadvertently press. Also, you can buy great aftermarket case and bracelets in stainless with sapphire glass which takes it to a whole new level

How do you compare a multi tool to a single use tool such as that knife?! One does more than the other at a much lower cost, and a carabiner to a the bellroy key cover... an key smart or orbitkey would be a suitable companion in the budget like. Other than that I liked everything and still choose the budget with the added expensive size of the bellroy, flashlight and knife.

A lot of these are great, and that Casio is god tier. When I travel I typically wear my Omega Speedmaster Pro. It has no date so I just pull the crown out and set it to local time and use the chronograph to monitor a 2nd time zone if for some reason I need to. The Rolex will garner quite a bit of (sometimes) unwanted attention.

Last comment would be that luxury does not have to mean flashy and attention seeking. Some people have commented that for travelers attracts the wrong attention, I think this depends more on if you mean BRAND by luxury or the QUALITY of goods. Yes wearing a Rolex on holiday is a terrible idea unless you are only going to luxury hotels / restaurants etc and can afford to replace it.

Bellroy wallet is more expensive and worse than slimfold if we really want to optimise our wallets. The slimfold is lower profile and faster access to whatever you want from the wallet.

I would comment that key covers are basically essential on a security standpoint because an experienced locksmith can copy your keys just by seeing them (FYI, if those keys shown in this video are keys you actually use, beware), which means covering the bitting provides an additional layer of security without you having to worry about never taking your keys out in public.

@@evrythingis1 Me and you probably don't need to worry about that, yeah. Someone with a channel with a quarter of a million subscribers probably does. Also, lockpicking requires not only knowledge and experience, but you'll look suspicious if you try lockpicking, while having a key means you can use it in any context and nobody will bat an eye at it. Btw, a key blank costs pennies, and a locksmith with experience is able to cut a new key in seconds, so... If you can't see the threat of that, sorry to tell you but you're the bot lmao

I would not consider the note core to be too much of a luxury option. Surefire stiletto woulda been more accurate. The note core could fit into the budget category imo I have one and paid 90$ for it which sounds like a lot but I literally use it every time I walk my dog or work in the garage and a million other things. The quality for price is crazy like I would have paid 2x for it happily given what I got

There's a wide variety of uses for these certain gadgets depending on who's using them. I personally believe in the quality of the product, and I think it's a myth that only luxury products can have good quality. Instead, we can choose from a range of options that offer a good range of durability.

I love the Nitecore T4K you recommended in another video and rocked with it for a while but less than a year, the sockets for the screws broke. I refuse to buy another to replace it as it’s still functional, I just haven’t found a solution to keep it together yet. Most of my Unbound Merino shirts also have holes in them now despite being washed on delicate in the wash and line dried. I’m definitely getting that luxury wallet though.

Best key solution ever is the LV 6 key case. Compact, jingle free, sleeve on the interior holds cards and/or cash. I never leave home without mine. ST DuPont also makes amazing pens. You should look at Schon DSGN pens. I think you'd like Ian's stuff. Sorry man, Rolex is a no. They are a poor customer experience and mad expensive.

From someone whose met and knows wallet as well as leather good snobs, Montblanc is a terrible buy. They do not use high quality leather whatsoever and that wallet under a lot of use will fall apart in less than two years. Find a British or American brand with a rich and lengthy history of producing only high quality products

Luxury and quality things are things you reward yourself for your own personal enjoyment and longevity, specially after you’ve achieved something significant in life. There are people who go to an expensive restaurant to show off and those who want to experience the best made cuisine or nice wine and steak, depending on what you’re into. Usually a man tends to reach that level of being able to afford quality and luxury in later years of their life, and again it’s personal enjoyment. And to prove my point, there is such thing as quiet luxury, for example, no one knows what a Patek 5227 G is, it looks like a Timex, but the personal enjoyment of looking at the finishing, the movement up close, knowing the history, the manufacturing, and the feel of winding the watch is personal, same thing with cars, every one knows what a Ferrari is but not a Pantera, but when you’re shifting gears on the Pantera and feeling the engine that is a personal experience for yourself and not a show off thing. If you catch my drift.

Explain to me, how do you track 3 time zones with that Rolex with out a static 24h chapter ring? That‘s some bullshit and people keep repeating it. Look at proper GMT watches, e.g. from Grand Seiko or Breitling, if they have a 24h bezel, they also have 24h chapter ring.

To read at a glance, not without interfacing with the bezel or knowing the +/- hrs from GMT of your new location or home location. Depending on how you set it when you arrive or your preferences. It's pretty common to leave it set to GMT and reference it, knowing the +/- hours of the location you're trying to tell time in. It requires you to know that though. Not a tough ask, but we have phones and people are willing to rely on them more than themselves these days. To track? As mentioned above, turn bezel +/- # of hours of the GMT offset of wherever you are, or do the simple math. And you have 3 zones. Infact you have all zones if you have that kind of memory. It's not marketed so you can know 3 zones at a glance. It's a "tool watch" by its nature (luxury, albeit) and if you use it as such you'll have your choice of reading time wherever you need it. This is what anyone means when they refer to a Rolex GMT tracking 3 zones. Theres a bit more left for you to do vs a watch with a 2nd 24hr for you to reference.

@@mdmcd6273 If I know the offset and calculate in my head, I can track as many time zones as I want with any watch, that‘s not a feature of the watch. The reason for the GMT Master having a rotating bezel is a different one. The first model was not a real GMT, it just had a second hour 24h hand that was fixed to the 12h hand. So, to set the offset you used the bezel. Later when the GMT complication was introduced they just kept the rotation bezel but it was never designed for 3 time zones.

@mrk131324 Yup. Maybe I'll try and explain more clear. You hour hand and and 24 hour hand are set to PST. You land in London, you set the hour hand to BST. You want to know a 3rd location you interface with the bezel. There's 3. Home, London, Anywhere else. If you're trying to make a point that you don't feel a Rolex GMT is not a GMT, I'm not here for that. You asked why do people say you can track 3 zones without a secondary dial. So break it down simpler. You have your dial with two hour hands. Thats two zones. And a bezel that rotates, that's your third. You need to know the offset to set the watch. It's a mechanical watch. Your input from winding and setting it is what allows it to work and work for you. I suspect you may well know this, so then why are you asking how to track 3 zones on a GMT Master II? Just being sarcastic or trying to flex that a Grand Seiko or Breitling to you are better? Haha.

Nothing says rob me like flashing a rolex. So many good watches for far less money that don't scream I have money. I love the $400 pen, but I would leave it on my desk. my Pilot writes just fine for edc. I am a child of the 70s and can not take Casio seriously as a watch brand any more than I will ever consider a Timex anything more than a disposable. Both are great for people who beat the crud out of watches while working etc, I would rather wear a $200 seiko

In Toronto canada I buy a super super clone I bring it to a rolex expert he say it was real rolex . Unbelievable. Your super clone look just like mine. You a expert but a regular person like me will never know. Imagine on amzwatch

Whether luxury is worth it or not, depends on what you want. luxury for stuff you want, but things you need in your edc but don't want to pay a premium, get the budget, so you can save up for the premium you want.
