2 quick easy and cheap things.... 1: pull the grill and headlights and put some satin black on all the metal behind the lights. 2: push out the dents on the fender. They're not bad but look terrible and can be pushed out with pdr. (paintless dent repair) Watch a couple tube vids, its really not that tough to do. Those 2 things will really clean up that front end. I mean you've come this far, why not right?
Failing that, investing into professional panelbeating tools would be a great idea ie pannelbeating hammer. A block of wood and normal hammer works if you have easy access too if u dont wanna spend money.
@@nzexplorer876 you gave me a great idea! I have a dent on the side of the bed on my 73 C10. I had already thought that what I needed was to push it from the inside with something like a porta power. This may push it out enough to not be too noticeable. 👍
@@sonparabailar thats great to hear dude! there are plenty of things you can do to push a dent out, if ur dent has no crease in it it should do it 100%
Very impressed with this budget build. The money can go far when you're not afraid to tackle the work on your own. Looks good from the hood to the fender flares!
Good job! Looks like you still need to tighten up the driver side mirror though, looked pretty loose when you closed the door lol. But everything looks good for a small budget 😁 so GLAD you didn’t put some fender flares on the truck 🤣🤣😂
Love the build, only a few things left....spark plugs tell the story. Pull them and look at the condition, any in really bad condition, check those cylinders with a borescope for bad carbon deposits on pistons, burning oil usually means bad rings. BTW...when are the fender flares goin on?
When you’re painting with the gun at the end of your pass release pressure on the trigger just enough so that the paint stops coming out but air is still coming out. This will prevent heavy paint spots at the ends of passes and maintain the nozzle better.

360skee coolant is for the engine to keep it cool you’re thinking of refrigerant. If it’s white smoke it’s coolant if it has a bluish tint it’s oil getting into the cylinder which the smoke looked a little blue to me
It’s probably just the rings because it smokes all the time if it was valve seals it would just leak oil into the cylinder when it has been sitting then goes away when you run it
I love ehat u did to the truck im glad you didn't go and put any FENDER FLARES on it good job plan on dropping a few bids at least on ebay till I get outbid 😀
First of all great video Everything in it was great Never underestimated your abilities to pull this thing off Didn't think it would turn out this good Ever consider the problem may be the piston return springs Really should check that out Fired up for the next build Liked the video and commented Always love watching your videos Regret not subbing before Everyone who subs to this channel is awsome Someone give this man a medal fender flares
Hey brother, I know how bad storms are. Hopefully your family is all good. I’m guessing storms got bad since you posted this on Thursday. Prayers for your family and friends
Just curious, why do ya need us to say the secret word? I’m not even a huge fan of fender flares. But that truck looks tubbed???? I like it! Do a Ford next! Gon need a bigger budget though cause Ford stuff is expensive, or is it??? Sounds like a great challenge!!!
Post the video of bringing it to the mechanic! 🙏 he’ll do a compression test on each cylinder by pulling the spark plugs. It’ll be cool watching you learn.
Yo my name is kaleb too!!! I’d love to see you rebuild a 2006 Chevy impala, it’s the car that I drive and I’ve done a lot of mods to it and I’d really like to see you make a video on it for some ideas for me to do and it’s a great car!!!
Pull the plugs.. They'll tell you alot.. If they're covered in like crystals/sand like build up it's your valve stem seals, if they're coked near the base it's rings, if one or a couple looked steam cleaned you're getting water in there. Valve stem seals are an easy fix, rings are alot more involved.
Fender flares. Rings are probably shot in that thing. I'd still keep it and run it till that engine blows then do something else. If you have to get rid of something get rid of one of those rice rockets or cars and keep that truck. Rather seen it at Stockbridge height though...sitting on 31x10.50s
Hey I need help putting together my fathers old truck, he has Bedliner on the hood that looks like crap, what tool would you recommend? I tried sanding it and it’s just chewing threw it. I want to get it to the bare metal.
I'm by Sacramento Ca.... Have a primered 83' C10 with a upgraded T10 4spd (no grannygear) in way better condition when this truck was started. Short bedfleet side 530 two 1 six three five 9 one text pref
You get a rear bumper , chrome ....truck will pop big time .....fender flare ...but again, by im sure you sold it ...god bless ...tail gate came out awesome, nice job. You have more equipment and tools then I thought...cool , your 🪝 hooked ...nice video
Hi love the builds, what you could do especially on old trucks, 3 colour camo, cheap, looks good and perfect in hood or the woods. Other ideas matt black whole think, could paint the silver bumpers n bits...make it look real mean. Keep up the good builds... Peace.
So u put $2000+what ever you payed for it = a $1500 to $3000 dollar truck as is now. And hoping someone will run up the bid on ebay lol I wish you luck..... like the videos though
the rings are shot probably. I'll be 100 percent honest with you small block Chevy rebuild kits are about 150 bucks off rock auto and they're literally the easiest thing too work on. They are very self explanatory. This is coming from a 17 year old whos only been into old Chevys for about a year now.
I got a old 305 that used to smoke like that. You got a lot of blow by. Just worn out piston rings. Personally I didnt think rebuilding was worth it. So I just put some honey oil. (Idk supposed to stop the smoke) its not the right way. But for my little beater. Perfect. Fenderflares
Small tip. Often times when you are spraying, the spitting might not be gun-related. Often times it's your compressor. Not because your stuff is junk or anything like that. Compressors need to be just as clean and functional as anything else. When compressors run they pull in air to pressurize the tank. The air being pulled in is dirty. Not to mention the condensation in your tank. Both can come back up your airline and cause gun failure. Keep your tank well maintained.
It was emission motor and towed something heavy...they did a hillbilly emission delete, egr , emission pump, several vacuum lines, etc and burnt the Piston rings. Needs Valve seals or rings. Most of those valve seals dry out , crack and leak oil directly into combustion chamber
i got 68 i went over budget i have 2300 in it but no rust good clean body but i have a 454 stroker with tunnel ram the tunnel ram ran me over budget and radiator i have a 79 scottsdale that is mint just needs engine work that i got for free just got about 3 months ago a 79 4x4 short box cheyenne full option truck 400 sb 400 turbo in mint condition was parked in a shop it's hole life with 35,000 miles on it even the paint is mint got it for free supper chevy said they would not sell it for less then 20,000 they offered me 12,000 cash but they would have to ask the boss for more i told them i not selling it i have a lot of these trucks sitting i scrap the one's that have rust if it is rust threw the body and i know i'm very lucky with cars witch pisses my friend off i don't know y i'm so lucky i just stop and ask if they need any scrap hauled and they just give me the rigs that are broke down only with title but i got the place for it
If the compression is solid on all 8 cylinders, I would bet the smoke is caused by worn out valve guide seals. They dry up when cars are parked for a long time or simply wear out on older vehicles. It allows oil to seep past the valves and smoke during combustion. These would be pretty cheap to fix. This was a really nice project. Good job sticking to the budget.
Neveremind found out you live in Gadsden I'm in Bham. Would love a new c10 lol, miss my old one. Look up agearhead4life on youtube, he bought my old one lol.
Hey next time you plan on shooting clear & want to film but don’t cause you are worried about the clear sticking to the camera just put a clear plastic zip lock bag over it!! You will still be able to film!! Give it a try next time!!
Thats smoke, not steam. If it was a blown head gasket it would be losing water and it would be steaming out of the exhaust. That's smoke which usually means valve stem seals. Pull the valve covers and see if the drain holes at each end of the heads are plugged. Simple fix.
I might have a bumper from a jeep wrangler you can have for it and I'm local to you. It's the front bumper from a 2000 wrangler with the rubber bumpers
i got 2200 in my 68 but no rust good clean body but needs paint but did the frame up with a stroked 454 with tunnel ram heavy duty 400 turbo 12 bolt posse 4:11 gears rally wheels so still have to put money in it have to build a cowl induction hood so the hood fits
I know this isn't a absolutely necessary thing but in my opinion I think it would look better if you took the grill and headlights out and painted behind them the same gloss black you used on the tail gate. now dont get me wrong I love the truck and I think it looks amazing. I just think when it was driving straight at the camera you could see behined the headlight area and I believe with a little more work it could just look that much better and I now its not a necessity but thought I'd be good food for thought is all. fender flares.
