Feels like they missed a beat here. If the workflow is hammer -> twist, but you risk unseating the hammered notch by putting the handle on, eliminate that step. The handle should have a pass through or reinforced striking surface for hammering the end of the bit so you can just twist in place. Especially since they’ve gone through the trouble of making their own funky handle.
Coincidentally, I just received the Anex Manual Impact Driver kit (ANEX No.1903-NS1) in the mail this week from Amazon JP via Amazon US and it also has those cross-combination extraction bits. I think it's a better execution of this idea.
It seems like the Japanese tool companies are obsessed with removing damaged screws. Feels like half their pliers have the screw removal mouth when it's a rare feature everywhere else. Wonder if there's some actual cause beyond chance. Like were their fasteners a softer metal a while ago and they created JIS (anti cam-out) Phillips and always had screw removal pliers handy.
I know filming can be tough but don't worry about your hand being in the shot to me I trust that your not pulling tricks and the fact that it's moving I can tell
All you need is the space of the first groove on their pliers to take it out the rest of the way with them and be able to go back and forth to not break the fastener easily. I would not use them to back anything out very far
Anybody have experience with both these and the common lefthand-threaded-spiral type that you see from a lot of other brands? I'd be interested to hear pros/cons.
Ok, I have used both types, but in different situations. The ones in this video are better for Phillips or pozidrive screws. The left threaded ones are for broken bolts. In most cases you have to drill a hole in the broken bolt to insert the extractor. I have a set in which every extractor is paired with a specific diameter drill. If you are able to drill a hole in the screw, you can use the threaded ones, otherwise the ones presented in the video are better and faster.
Yes the pliers at least are made by engineer and you can buy their brand for half the price. I am a service tech and I use their groove lock pliers every day for the last 8 years since i found them. Even knipex twin grips couldn’t replace them
Great vid and no brainer purchase. Unrelatd, I don't think I've ever seen you review clothes, Doc. Feel like you must have some wisdom on the subject, be it gear for overlanding/camping or what you like wearing in the garden.
That is the worst screw extracting POS I have ever seen !!! You would do much better with an IMPACT screwdriver that once it is hit once with a hammer it will seat itself into the screw (or whatever is left of it) edge and anothertap and then it will spin - Itself right out with ease ..... I know you are trying to show new and improved tools but some of them work on a Theory base but when it comes to reality they SUck ....... So next time chose a better new and improved tool before it makes you look wonky !
