$35K Modified F150 VS $70K Ford Raptor | What's the better value? 

The Raptor is a status symbol for a lot of the buyers. They don’t refer to it as an F-150, it’s a Raptor. All the money put into the F-150, in large part will not be recouped in resale. Whereas the raptor holds its value extremely well. Great video, Mike.

99% of people who buy a 70k Raptor are not gonna Baja off-road it. So a 35k modified F150 that looks visually close just makes sense.

I have a 2018 Raptor with the same spec and love it. I much prefer having every feature you can ask for plus the suspension setup, all OEM. Only thing I did was do a Corsa resonator delete to up the exhaust volume a bit.

Just bought my F150 and am doing a lot of the same mods because of you! im going to film it along the way too and try to not mess it all up lol

I think both of the trucks look amazing

I can't really say which one is my favorite because I like both of them. Both trucks are "chill". They're unique and really nice trucks in their own right. Of course, the "mods" that you have added to the F150 made it look even better, despite the cops telling you that you had to remove some really great "mods".

The hood on the real Raptor is sick and reminds me of the Army Hummers I used to drive in the early 2000s.

Went from a lifted f150 like yours to the raptor. The raptor ended up costing 20k cad more than the lifted f150 but its worth every dollar and i would never go back. Great videos as always.

Now that the front end is wrapped I am glad that you did this video of the comparison between the Raptor and Raptor Lite. lol ... Both are extremely BADASS trucks in their own right and have their own endearing qualities. I actually don't mind the sound of the Raptor it is loud enough for me (yes I am only 35 years old not a grandpa), but I do love the sound of the V8 with the Borla Atak more for sure. Obviously as stated the big differences are the SuperCrew vs SuperCab, Fox Shocks (which you will get later with a better lift kit) and the interior luxury features. If the 2015 was a Lariat or higher it would be much closer. Even though the Raptor is cool, I always enjoy seeing how people personalize their own vehicles and that in itself is a 2nd kind of COOL! :D

well for $35k you get just the basics but all the mods you did to the 2015 xlt f150 im digging the regular f150 xlt.

I bought a Ford F-150 super crew king ranch and I can say with out a doubt it is the perfect blend between these two it can with all the raptor interior (except the raptor logos) and the sun roof but it does have massage seats the but that F-150 looks so clean🤩

Great video Sir and thanks for the detailed information on both trucks. I have watched a few of your videos now on the Raptor. A few observations specific to this video are: (i) The price of your Ford F-150 XLT was probably closer to 50K all said and done. You mentioned that you leased the vehicle for 36 months which probably included a down payment and then monthly lease payment with a buyout at 26K. I added that in so I did a quick computation of 26K buyout + 8.5K mods + 14K lease over 36 months = 48.5K which is essentially 50K; (ii) I noticed a lot of vibration on your driver's side door on the F-150 XLT during your drive. That vibration over time will affect the seal on the door most likely. Not being critical, these are just observations. With those observations, I'm going with a 50K moded F-150 vs 70K Raptor So, I do own a Ford Performance vehicle which is the 2017 Mustang GT 350. Since owning that vehicle, I have felt blessed to have driven a piece of engineering perfection. My final conclusion and thoughts are that there is something special going on at Ford Performance right now and anyone who has a chance to take advantage of this opportunity should look into one of these vehicles. I'll be getting a Raptor soon despite the price tag and will even trade in my supercharged Audi S to get it. Thank you to him for Ford Performance Division. I would go for the F-150 because its setup the exact way you want it.

Nothing wrong with having two trucks, it’s a free country! Yes it’s big, but safety is a great factor. Durability is better than most cars at an equal pricing.

When I seen what could be done to a stock f150, I traded in my jeep and bought my first F-150. This video convinced me the F-150 has the most after market mods of any truck available.

raptors are, hear me out (I obviously dont have one, I have a 2016 lxt) - the reason raptor wins is because they retain 90% of their value...I know, right? that's insane...google a used raptor and you'll understand :D

I'm happy with my classic 02 Ranger. It's a stick shift single cab with around 140k miles on it. Drives like a dream and is a basic as a small truck can get. I'll never need a new truck. If you're a simple guy with a little car know how then you can pretty much use any old "beater" truck to get the job done. Sure I wont win any street races. But I'll be the one laughing when you have to pay 85 dollars for an oil change and 1200 for new tires.

Here’s a crazy idea, sweet talk your wife into putting a Borla Attack exhaust on the raptor.

Wow...you left out a lot of stuff...First off your truck was NOT 26K plus about 8k in upgrades, your payoff was about 26k, but you already paid down your lease for 3 yrs so its more like 35k for the truck alone before the 8k in mods... You forgot to mention the Raptor has 4.10 gears and a limited slip front diff....what is that all worth?....and you never mentioned that the Raptor is a true mid travel truck with 13" of wheel travel in front and just shy of 14" in the rear...there is another big cost difference... So what I'm really saying is the two trucks are much farther apart then presented, which means a lot more value for the Raptor then implied. However....the most thing I dislike the most about my 2018 Raptor is the v6 sound, and yes the 5.0L sounds awesome!! BTW the Raptor has historically held it's resale value much better then any other F150.. Thanks for the videos, I do enjoy them...

I know it's probably not a high priority but what's your Mpg on the 5.0 with the wheel /tire setup ? Trying to decide between the 3.5 vs 5.0 , and Its coming down to mpg for me. For me Power and towing are both good enough and sound isn't a big deal. So I'm letting the mpg make up my mind. I will be buying a 2018 to get the 10speed

Hey Mike, ONE major oversight that you did not cover in this side-by-side comparison ?!? How well each truck RETAINS it's VALUE. Those Ford Raptors HOLD 81% of their sticker price after 3 years. The standard F-150 is closer to 53% mark. In addition, all of those aftermarket modifications will not help to bolster the truck's "blue book" value at all. Hope this helps Yo !

I work for Ford I’ve had a 2019 XLT just bought a pre-owned raptor 2017 a doctor owned it I couldn’t pass it up. It was a steal for me. The thing looked detailed and not a scratch on it when he v traded it in. I can’t explain what it is but something about the Raptor just feels better. You can change the exhaust to get the sound.

I’m not a Ford guy but I prefer the Raptor because for one it’s a Raptor and secondly it’s a full size pickup. F-150 looks kinda weird with that little half door that it has.

For $70,000 I’ll rather get a f250 with a 6 inch lift with 37s but that’s my taste.

Both trucks are sweet. I like both. I’ve got an XLT love it. I’m not real into leather myself. I’ve got the 2.7 Ecoboost and it does great. I like the feel of the turbos. Makes it feel faster. Mine is set up for towing. With the highest package for XLT. As for those trucks they both are set up for a different feel and preference. Thumbs up

I like the aftermarket head and tail lights better on the f150 than the raptor stock stuff. I would be over the moon happy with either one really both super nice

Both are cool trucks but,its really hard for me to justify the 35 thousand dollar difference!...amazingly the 70 k truck comes with a 6 cylinder!...I just dont get how different shocks and an inferior engine justifies 35k difference!...in my opinion the 35k truck is just as good if not a little better than the raptor!

Raptors are more expensive but they depreciate very little. Especially compared to a normal F150. Actually a better financial decision to get a raptor over like a 60K king ranch

thing is you can find a 10-14 Raptor with the 6.2L and fair mileage for under 30k. Closer to 20k if you're lucky. There's the best value right now. About 50% off original retail price. Remember this is something that was also bought by dentists, administrators, and other folks with money that didn't have the intention of abusing them and ragging them out. Definitely worth considering.
