I was up against the highest denomination available on that machine. Had there been a larger spread across more denominations, I would have been on at least the $2 coin denomination, and more than likely the $5 coin denomination. The machine was rolling in Quads, and I would certainly keep moving up in denominations had they all been on the machine. That's why I prefer places like Pala, Pechanga, Red Rock, Barona, The Palms, where such spreads are available. But such is the video poker life. It all depends on the casino. Still... a $4,000 Royal on a first visit using house money is not a bad start.
Great job John congrats. I hit a royal myself recently eliminating my flush winning hand when I had four to the royal. 2 years ago in high limit I did settle for a 2500 straight flush that had a 4 to the royal that would have been worth 40 grand if I hit the royal those are the breaks.
John, I was thinking about a directional microphone. Sort of a cone like a dog out of surgery wears. You could plug it into your phone and aim it away from the ceiling to block the background noise. Just a thought.

The nice things about Yaamava is that they are filming friendly even though the pay tables aren’t. I would try high limit, 8/6 bonus deluxe jacks and 9/5 jacks, with the super times pay multiplier is a 98.7% game, or super triple play with the 500 four of a kind on 8/6 jacks at all bar top machines. I don’t think that is a secret as they are on many machines there.
Most of us prefer gaming videos with conversation rather than just silently showing each hand. Don't apologize for talking, it's what most of us prefer!:)

@@johnsworldofvideopoker cool Well, I personally would like to hear more of is strategy I am mainly a Texas hold ‘em poker player but I enjoy video poker however, I play it pretty rarely, so I didn’t bother to study any strategy books I don’t know when it’s proper to hold a pair versus a four flush or a pair versus an open end straight. Would definitely like to hear your thought process on some of those decisions going forward.

Yes....it was in the non-smoking slots room on the end machine. I wish it had offered higher coin denominations and that Royal would have been even higher. It's all good, though. Congratulations on hitting your Royal there too.
They have a strong inventory of full pay machines at $ and above. I took "advantage" of a new sign promo, $500 loss rebate. Rebate is in the form of FSP in two separate mailers. My plan was to take a shot at $5 BP, but opted for lower demon due to limited bankroll. What's nice is you can play FP spin poker with only one line. I started out at $2 demon, was down half of the $500 very quick, so I finished playing $1 to extend the session. The session was tough with only $2600 coin-in and I hit the loss rebate limit. I went to the player's club to verify the loss. Then I went back to battle without using my player's card, got lucky hit a quad and full house in just a few minutes. Anyway, ended down $340 for the day, while I showed a loss of $500. What was troubling I only earned $1.60 in comps and a dime in cashback for the play. I guess it makes sense because they offer FP VP, then the comp rate will be very tight. BTW slots are $1 coin-in = 1 point & VP is $5 coin-in = 1 point. They run another FSP promo which adds .20% to the base game. The mailers/FSP should tell the complete story of this play. Anyway, has Skip had any experience with this casino? Take care, Mark

I’ll have to check with him to be sure, but I remember a while back that he was visiting other casinos in the area. @@johnsworldofvideopoker Just an update on on this property. I played my first rebate last week (actually $225) as the rebate is UP TO the max of $250x2. I played for about an hour with a "hit and run" total profit of $395. Recently, I received a mailer for June, $60 x 13 = $780. This is very strong for only $2600 CI, but the bad part is I will not be able to use all of FSP. So far this property appears to be a very good play. I will probably hit them up 2-3 a month as it's 65 mile drive each way. The player's club for VP continues to be wonky as I have not completely figured it out. Take care, Mark

Unfortunately my husbands brother passed away before we arrived. I did play a little but the pay table for bonus poke was 6/5😱 So I played DDBP (.25) and won $500. There’s a lot of background noises, in the casino. So now that I’m filming, I notice all the little things going on in the background and wonder to myself, what my viewers must be thinking about is going on around me. I'm a huge video poker player... I've been watching many channels, the money strategies you use are very adoptable...I like it more then any others, including mine. The one mind numbing thing I see across all channels, regardless of denomination or $$ per hand play, is the odd hold strategy I see everyone doing so differently. The biggest difference is game choice... i.e. Jacks or Better vs. Bonus vs. Double Bonus and so on... I get that the strategy is slightly different depending on game choice, but I always play for max hand payout. (Example, J J 3 6 6, I will always dump the 6 6. And go for the draw of quads. Regardless of the games that pay 2 to 1 on two pair. I already have my even money payback. Drawing for the one card full house seems anti productive, and drawing for the quads is a better draw.... That's just me... Going againt the "written odds". But I have worked in the casino industry since 1992, and I play a crap ton of video poker... (Prefer DDB and TDB). Any feedback? And on the background music, can you not lay down a RU-vid approved music track on a low volume that will drown out the casinos music and other background noise. Your voice being so close to the recording device it will still boom over all background noise and music.. You put down approved music or even white noise, at 15% volume on the approved. Also... Being in the industry, and depending on the time of day or night you can find a casino manager (make sure it's a manager) preferable tad older'ish ( 50's, maybe some graying hair.)..... You can "kindly" ask to have the music volume lowered a little bit, (claiming a hearing condition). It does not always work... But it never hurts to "KINDLY" request it... May the royals be frequent...

That happens from, time to time, when filming. My attention or thoughts are temporarily focused elsewhere, and before you know it, you don't notice the 2 end cards on the periphery, and then, just when you're pushing the deal button, you see it, but it's already too late, the deal button has been pushed. I meant to highlight it & point it out in the video, but forgot all about it. Isn't it cool that those mistakes surely didn't stop me from hitting the Royal though? As I've said in my videos before, "You can hold the right cards, and hit the Royal. You can hold the wrong cards, and hit the Royal. And you don't have to hold any cards at all, and still hit the Royal". Is near-perfect strategy important? Absolutely! But no human who has ever played the game, has never made a mistake. Mistakes are a permanent part of everybody's game. There's approximately 2,600,000 hands. Nobody has seen them all. And mistakes WILL be made. (sticky buttons, weak springs, pushing the wrong button when the player meant to hit another one, erroneous card selections, etc. It's all good. For me, there are 3 types of sessions in video poker. 1) Those that are specially filmed for RU-vid. 2) Those that are un-filmed and are just for building bankroll and for money-making sessions (where I'm very strict about near-perfect strategy), and then, there is "recreational play" where I'm just out there socially with friends to have drinks and a good time. At nearly $500,000 in Royal Flush wins (off of just 40 Royals: with $250,000 of those wins coming from just a $1,000 bankroll), I gotta tell you, I don't sweat the small stuff.

One always has to remember to enjoy the game, loved, “don”t BBQ yourself”, I play Ultimate X TDDB , and it’s a game of patience and persistence, and it always comes when you least expect it, so I quit expecting it and it’s paid off, LOL!!
@@johnsworldofvideopoker the first one was at my local casino here in Kansas, an Indian Casino. In Vegas hit the royal at Planet Hollywood. Actually made my first trip to Red Rock in Vegas. It was fantastic!
John. Why would you drive to another casino only to play a worse pay table? The only way you could justify that decision is if the casino had some crazy point multiplier going on.
I get free play all over Southern California. I hit that $4,000 Royal Flush at Yaamavá off of a $190 in free play in spite of the lesser pay table. Free play can be used to off-set a less than optimum pay table. I turned $15 in free play at Harrah’s SoCal in a $100 Bill. A week later that single $100 Bill was used to hit 3 Royals in 3 hours in one night for a grand total win of $114,000. (1st Royal: $2,000, 2nd Royal: $8,000, 3rd Royal $100,000, & then a $4,000 Quad hit on BPD on the $10 coin denomination. And it all started on a 7/5 BP pay table.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

But the better paying pay table will always be better regardless of the short-term gain you may experience on a worse pay table. Hopefully I articulated my point in the manner in which I intended. I appreciate your thoughts, insights, and candor regarding video poker. And I’m sure that there are many more insights that you could share with me (and with other dedicated video poker players) that would influence and enhance their success with the games. I see so much value in that. And I want you to know that I greatly admire your perspective. All I’m trying to point out (and I agree with you in large part) is that, the math is a vital and very large part of success in Video Poker, but it’s not “all about the math“ because there are other factors that come in to play that influence this game (in spite of the numbers and the math behind it). So, yes, math is very important, and an integral part of Video Poker, and cannot be ignored, and yes, near perfect strategy is essential to having a long-term success in Video Poker; but it is not the “end all, be all”, with the game. Self discipline, bankroll management techniques, bankroll size, the level of a player’s risk tolerance, the type and quantity of games that are available throughout the casino, the amount of various games with the right pay tables within a single machine, so that, the player can offset variances between the games to maximize gains in the casino (which goes back to the math of the game and where that becomes a very critical part of success)….. so there are many aspects that flow together (in the right combination) to equate to the player’s overall success in Video Poker. So I’m merely suggesting, (and agreeing, by the way) that the math behind the game is absolutely crucial and essential, but because there’s so many other factors that come in to play too that one has to consider all those other factors, and weigh them in accordingly, so that they dovetail neatly with the omnipresent importance of the math in the game. Bankroll management is one of the points I resonated with. Spot on with that one. Factoring in compensation from the casino is a pivotal part in increasing your edge. Knowing how to work your casino host is an important aspect as well. You are right in the sense that video poker is similar to life, its not black and white. The truth lies in the gray area, the fine detail. Like you said there are many factors in determining the profitability. The part I was mainly focusing on was the pay-table. Even full pay bonus poker is minus expected value which I believe is in the low 99% range. When you play a BP machine where the full house pays thirty credits instead of forty that's like 96%. (Rough estimate) In theory you don't need discipline when playing a plus EV machine. As long as you are properly bankrolled and play perfect strategy you can play 24/7. Such as you don't need to stop once you make a royal flush for instance. Because the more hours you play the more money you will make. (Long run) In the long run you will lose playing a minus EV machine. (Generally speaking). Of course there are other factors such as comps, and free play. But generally speaking you will lose in the long run even including the comps. If you play perfectly on a plus EV machine in the long run you will be profitable. Anyway good chat. I appreciate your point of view. You definitely are skilled at video poker. I enjoy watching you play. Especially those $25 a spin bets. High rolling for sure!
I have interviewed the staff at various casinos. The person that pays you out does not receive your tip. All tips, from all sources, be it a waitress that serves drinks, be it somebody who pays out jackpots, be it a bartender, be it a valet, all the tips (from all sources throughout the Casino property) all get placed into one gigantic money pool, and then, on a percentage basis, it is divvied out to all the personnel that receive tips. So, there’s nothing personal when giving out a tip to the person you’re giving it to. They immediately turn it over to the cashier at the casino and it goes into one big giant pool. $20 is more than adequate for a five minute payout.
I agree. A tip is a nice gesture. The personnel all have a base pay + tips and it all works out to a decent amount for the position being worked. $20 is quite adequate in every circumstance. $100-$200 max on huge jackpots of $40,000-$400,000.💋💋🌎
