@@ESFP-888 that's the problem, you're thinking of fast food. For lunch, a full-course meal (at least in my country) costs $2.41, for breakfast you can get something for 60 cents and dinner for $1.93, and you still have 6 cents to spare.
It’s a good representation of what meat eaters think vegetarians eat, and it explains a lot of the « I’m just concerned about you not getting enough protein » comments
I remember when I could go in a shop with a dollar and walk out with 2 loaves of bread a liter of milk, cereal, cheese and pork. Can't do that anymore there are too many cameras.
While i love the hustle, there's no protein! Protein is vital for helping you stay full. I would have swapped the veggie straws for a cup of Greek yogurt with fruit (chobani is about $1.50), a protein bar, a couple boiled eggs, or (if you're pescetarian) a pack of tuna. If you're on a budget, being constantly hungry is not ideal, so try to make sure all meals include a mix of carbs, fiber, and protein, cause that will help them last longer in your stomach.
I have info about vegan and vegetarian but I personally hate certain yogurts I think Greek one I'm not sure one has the texture of chalk and tastes worse but is less good for you but their are supplements that vegans and vegetarians takes to boost what they lack in diet also veggie straws are good I'm not a vegetarian but they are good I want try them with ranch they get a bit dry
Best bet would’ve been a cup noodle, a boiled egg and a yoghurt. Or a granola bar, bean burrito and a banana. Just a couple of different food groups rather than all carbs which will leave you hungry later on.
@@StreetCents Unless there's a plastic sticker band wrapping it's way around the whole bunch, it should be allowed. The one with bands need to be bought in bunches, but the ones without 'em, like in the video, are left alone so people can pluck as many as they please or get their banana purchases for a specific weight. Considered loose. Long as you aren't jamming a knife in one to take half a banana, you're good to just take one of them. Never had an issue in smaller or bigger chains, personally - and usually end up prying a few off myself to get a weekly 3kg amount (house is allergic to eggs, but we bake a lot. And like bananas).
@Street Cents I know you're in Canada, but in the US, it's pretty much standard for grocery stores to allow you to buy single bananas or to take grapes/ cherries out of the bag if it's too much.
I know at least a few years ago there was no extra charge to add veggies to your bagel at Tim Hortons. It would have been slightly more filling than just a bagel with butter.
If only Tesco's were available 😔 £3.50 (w/ a clubcard) meal deal with plenty of options and 1.50 left for smth extra its the ideal cheap meal you get a meal bit (salad, wrap, sandwich, or pasta, all with vegetarian and I think vegan options), a drink, and a snack (Smith sweet or a packet of crisps/bag of chips) Yallre missing out I swear /lh
Timmy's bagel with butter is great. Toasted is free and ask em to add some tomatoes. Don't let em charge you for two. Ask for a free cup of water too. My recent is ask for an egg on the bagel, it's cheap.
Best vegetarian snack (being a vegetarian myself) - Cucumber - salt - butter (optional) - some sort of bread (I usually chose pita bread it melts the butter best when heated in a toaster ;)
*"I dont know what vegetarians eat"* Well as a vegetarian I will tell you that we have to travel *_all the way to mars_* just to harvest our breakfast Dont get me started on lunch😩 #elonmuskplsmakeourliveseasier
A side salad is less filling than a bagel though. I would have done an everything bagel with cream cheese ($2.50?), a can soda($0.75?), a single banana(0.35?), a yogurt (1.05?)
The other day, I got a burger (grilled chicken, lettuce, cheese) and a fairly large portion of fries (complete with mayo and ketchup) for just $3.40. It was one of the cheapest, yet one of the best, lunches I had ever eaten.
That lunch under 5$ she say ooo Dr you can have a dinner with everything you want just in 1-2$ here in India that 5$ you say is not worth and I'm sad about it
Please stop skipping your economics classes. Comparing a third world poor country price index to a first world developed country with High HDI score and higher wages will make you the laughing stock of the classroom.
@@trithulu7751 Do non veg people eat meat all the time? I mean it's not like she belongs to a completely different spicie that she has no idea what her fellow humans eat.
So this video reminded me of something… STORYTIME: so once i‘ve had this one vegan friend who WILLINGLY moved out of her parents home to LIVE IN THE STREETS because she fought with her mom everyday. It‘s not that she didn’t have a choice or a place to go - she had a possibility of 1) moving out for at least few weeks to the shelter, but she „didn’t want to live with other people together“ or 2) her psychiatric ward offered to rent her a small flat, but in order to live in this flat, she‘d have to work in ward‘s cafeteria and she „was not going to work in such a place like this cafeteria“. So instead my homegirl was unemployed and on the street and I couldn’t let her sleep at home either because I was living in a pretty small flat with strict parents. Anyway, i wanted to help her our, so at least I decided I‘m gonna cook a warm meal for her everyday and bring it over, because she always said that she was totally broke. I was making her the best veggie dishes - she was vegetarian- from my own budget and I was making maybe 600-800$ myself a month at that time… (side job) and she always found something to be unhappy about 😆 all my dishes were either too cold, or had too little seasonings, or she wasnt sure whether they were vegan and she refused to eat them… one time she claimed she was totally broke and she took me to the supermarket and was looking at veggie dishes, crying that she‘s so hungry and she has no money at all. All the money that I‘ve had left until the next paycheck were like 25 bucks… still i bought her a very expensive vegan sandwich and a drink because I just wanted to be a good friend and didn’t want her to be hungry. Then she goes „lemme go to the ATM machine, i gotta go check something“. I looked over her shoulder and that girl had almost 3k in her account… that was the moment when I cancelled this friendship 😅
You did great!! By the way, veggie straws are seriously unhealthy. Full of sugar and not much healthier (if healthier at all) than regular fried potato chips. There was a lawsuit against them (in the states if im not mistaken) for their gross false advertising.
5 dollars in Kathmandu (after conversion) can get you the best choice of vegetarian breakfast. Tea/ coffee with any of the following - Puri tarkari, alu dum and roti, alu paratha, donuts, gwaramari, jerry-swari, momo, shabhaley, thukpa, chowmein, keema noodles, etc and south Indian staples like dosa, uttapam, upma, idli, medhuvada, etc.
We can have dairy and sometimes eggs (depends on the person) but I would get a small french fry at McDonald's, a mocha frappe, idk if everywhere else has a Souper Cafe but they have amazing tomato cheese toasted pita sandwiches and a tomato soup 👍
Who else thinks the leftover change should be given to her for helping the other girl find cheap food? It’s just, idk if the “find cheap but good food machine” girl is making money off of her videos but even if she is, the other girl should still pay for her services right? I personally don’t believe in doing things for free for your friends or for anyone (except family bc yes) so don’t take this seriously but I think if this continues happening, people could take advantage of her and just use her like a vending machine with a time limit to get you cheap but delicious food and keep the leftover money for themselves. I get it, it could be her own kindness or because she’s already making money off of her vids but nonetheless, she should still be able to keep the change. Plus it’s not even that much left so more of a reason for her to have it.
