Brooke, you have brought back to life Chicken and Dumplings and from so many comments on them, there's a whole lot of Southerners listening/viewing! ❤ Keep on Keeping on!
I am a single disabled lady and every month after bills and groceries I am dead broke until payday agaiñ. Everything you made looks delish and like things in have had before but made in a much more expensive way you may have very well helped me out in saving some cash on groceries and still have great dishes. Thank you!❤❤
Cheap dessert: either leave the flour tortilla whole or cut into 8ths. Fry until crisp sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, drizzle with Hershey syrup and dollop of whipped cream. Fast and uses up the tortillas.
My mom did that with extra pie crust dough. She rolled it out with a rolling pin and used a fork to poke holes in the dough to keep it from curling and bubbling up. Then, spread butter on the dough and sprinkled the entire dough with cinnamon and sugar mixture. Bake in oven on same temp as the pies. Remove from oven when golden brown on edges. Let cool. Break apart and enjoy!! 😊😊😊yummy 😋 😍
I am a single person and I made this, it was wonderful! I used 1 can soup and 1/2 can buiskts, it made me 2 big meals . Used the rest of the buiskts and made waffles, great. Thank you
Hi, and I am new to your channel. However I wanted to let you know that I was inspired by your chicken & stuffing casserole. I used my leftover rotisserie chicken meat instead, didn't have carrots but did have frozen mixed veggies, and melted the last of my colby-jack cheese on the top. It turned out delicious!!! Thanks for this awesome recipe. BTW: I'm a single disabled women with right side weakness from my massive stroke, and many of your dinner ideas work for me cos of my limited abilities. Thanks for sharing them.
I made the “chicken” and dumplings for myself today, and I added a quarter can of corn, a quarter can of green beans, and a quarter can of carrots, it is absolutely delicious, thank you for the amazing idea
I definitely can't wait to try this recipe with the added canned veggies! It'll be like the Campbell's Chunky chicken pot pie soup that I spend far too much money on...
Your daughter is likely living on a tight budget while away at college. You could write the recipes on cards for her with shopping list. I'm sure she'd appreciate your effort seeing to her eating healthy on a budget.
OMGosh Brooke!! I made your cheap chicken and dumplings for dinner tonight and it was a hit!! Perfect for a cold winter's night for sure!!! Everyone is now sitting in the couch with lots of blankets watching Frosty the Snowman with full bellies!! You are the best girl...thank you so much for sharing!! And it was $3.65 for dinner for 4 of us with enough for hubby to take a bowl to work tomorrow!! Woohoo!!
Awesome. My fave are loaded baked potatoes. We top them with canned baked beans and a small amount of cooked hamburger crumbles or shredded cheese. So filling and easy. I also bake up extra potatoes to cube the next morning into breakfast egg, potato, cheese burritos. 5 pounds potatoes for $3.
Your tip for looking for bags of things with extra ingredients is smart! I never really thought of that. As a mom living in this world of rising prices, but not rising income, I appreciate any tip I can get! The recipes look tasty, customizable, and affordable! Thank you!
CHEAP CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS 2 cans cream of chicken 3 cans small biscuits 4 cups water Salt and pepper to taste PIZZA QUESADILLAS Tortillas Mozzarella cheese Pepperoni Sauce for dipping optional CHICKEN STUFFING CASSEROLE Stuffing mix Cream of mushroom soup Canned sliced carrots 3 chicken breasts 3/4 cup water 1 cup milk Salt & pepper to taste BREAKFAST CASSEROLE Hash browns with onions and peppers Carton of eggs Bacon bits Cheese CREAMY CHICKEN & RICE Diced onions Chicken breasts 1 tsp garlic salt Black pepper 2 cans cream of chicken soup 3/4 cup water Rice and green beans on side
some stuffing mixes already have seasonings in one bag with the dried bread. If your stuffing mix has separate seasoning packet then definitely add it to dried bread and mix well with the water until bread soaks up seasonings and water. 🙂🙂🙂
I'm so happy I came across your channel with my hours being cut at work and food prices getting higher I was stressing out about how to save money on groceries you're a blessing!!❤️
It is amazing to me that anyone can actually complete all the steps involved in filming, editing and uploading content on to RU-vid let alone make it interesting and helpful. Be kind and positive to yourself. I am in awe of all content creators including you! Your family is adorable, all of your southern charm is refreshing and renews my faith in families who enjoy each other. Thanks! Pretty sure you will reach 1000 subs before summer.
I also get a gallon bag and add any vegetables I have left over and make vegetable soup for a meal. Even if its 1 spoonful I put it in the bag. When the bag is full put it in the pot and heat up on low for 30 minutes. Then add some water and cook for another 30 minutes and serve! There's a pot of free soup!!!!!😁
Boxed stuffing mix is a pantry stable. I get several boxes when they're on clearance after Thanksgiving and Christmas. I like to run it through my food processor and make seasoned bread crumbs. It so good! Thanks for all the meal ideas. I'm a Mississippi gal and we Southern cooks gotta stick together. :)
@@andreacloyd4661 yes it can be rather salty. I make sure I don't season the chicken since there is extra salt. I wonder if plain bread crumbs were mixed with it would it help even out the seasonings?
Love your breadcrumb idea outta stuffin'. Yum. I also saw a recipe for meatloaf that uses stuffing instead of bread cubes. So many creative people out there.
Going to try the chicken and dumplings this weekend. Again....on behalf of everyone having a tough time...thank you. Always looking for something my son can hear up for himself after school.
A easy cheap casserole to make is - 1 lg onion chopped - 3 lg potatoes , sliced in rounds about 1/4 inch thick- 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup and add 1 & 3/4 cups of water to the soup and mix it up in a bowl - 2 - cups shredded cheddar cheese- in a 9 X 13 casserole dish put the onions on bottom - layer in the round sliced potatoes - pour over your mushroom soup mixture and cover in foil and bake at 375 for 1 hour- remove from oven remove foil sprinkle over the 2 cups of cheese - return to oven uncovered and bake 10 more minutes! This casserole I’ve been making gif at least 40 yrs it’s delicious and can be served alone or with a dude dish ! If you have the extra money you can fry up a pound of hamburger meat or some sausage or bacon snd add into the casserole on top of the potato layer before you pour on the mushroom soup mixture, follow the rest of the video as written! This recipe can be cut in 1/2 if you have a small family!! 🙏✝️🙋🏻
My kids love this chicken and dumplings too that's exactly how I make it except when I'm being fancy I dumped in some frozen peas and a couple of Frozen carrots just give it some color. Honestly it is absolutely delicious and you would never know it because it comes from such humble ingredients but it is truly one of our family favorites
I’ve never eaten chicken and dumplings but you make it in so many videos, I’m going to try it. I think I will try to make it from your from-scratch recipes, though.
I'm so excited about trying the chicken and biscuit dish! I love Campbell's Chunky chicken pot pie soup but those are getting so dang expensive! I've never seen/heard about how easy it'd be to make my own, and I've got like 4 cans of cream of chicken collecting dust in the pantry. I think I'll add some canned veggies just to mimic the soup a bit more. Thanks for this awesome video!!
Each meal idea is excellent!. Love that you've made the meals different from one another so there is no burnout from the same tasting food. Thank you for sharing 👍😃♥️
Oh, I have a cheap eats meal for you to make. All you need is a can of apple pie filling, 4 to 6 pork chops and put a box of stuffing on top. That order. Make The stuffing as instructed Place apples on bottom then chops then stuffing in a rectangular baking pan. Bake at 375 covered for 50 minutes. Uncover bake 10 more
That sounds delicious. Apples 🍎 are something that is usually served with porkchops 🥩. At least, applesauce is served, so this casserole sounds delicious!!!
I really enjoy your shows! Did you know there are recipees for shelf stable cream of whatever soup mix online? It saves a lot of money for me as a single empty nester. Keep saving and showing your meals! and Thankyou!
middle of the night, can't sleep and I find your channel. So glad I stumbled upon it!! Ty for so many different meal ideas that are not just repeats of other meals before! Love that you are real and not fake like some of the you-bees we see doing these challenges. These ppl have never been in these situations and are trying to give ideas on something they know NOTHING about and it shows. Ty for being an honest channel.
I love your recipes! My son is vegetarian so I have to leave out the meat or replace with something else but it still is delicious! Keep them coming! Saving money is definitely what I need for sure!!!
I love your meal ideas and i think your ideas are so helpful thank you for doing this its what we all need in this day and time with everything going on so thank you
Thank you for admitting you were having an off day. Yes we all have them but people usually expect you to be upbeat all the time and that's just not the way it us. Happy to see you feeling better at the end though.
I make some drop biscuit mix out of flour and seasonings and I let it sit for 15 minutes in a warm spot. Then I get a bowl of COLD water and a teaspoon. I dip the spoon in the water and then use the side of the spoon in the mix to dip and just get a little bit and drop it in the boiling chicken broth. Remember to dip your spoon in the cold water EVERY TIME after you dropped the mix in the pot. You can make as much mix as you want. I guessed it cost me $1 dollar to make the dumplings and another 3 dollars for the homemade chicken broth and a bag of mixed vegetables. So $5 buckes and I fed 13 people and a bunch had seconds too!!!!!😁😁
My mama made them that way except she used bullion and no veg. I cook them for myself when I start missing her extra badly. I haven't any family left. Recently I had been sick a long time and not eating. When I started feeling better, I was really hungry. I was up at 3am cooking mama-dumplings.
Your method is much better than buying cans of biscuits which are full of chemicals. We use homemade egg noodles squares due to PA Dutch in the family.
Hi Mom. Thank you for showing us how to cheap. I spent my teenage years learning to live in the great town of Sevierville, TN. I cried when we moved back to MS.
Everything looks 👌 Amazing Great " I'm So glad I found your channel 😀 keep them coming , In this Economy we're living in Today , Need all these DELISH ECONOMY DINNERS 🍽 😋 THANK YOU FOR SHARING, GOD BLESS 🙌
I'm so glad I found your channel 💜 Enjoyed the video with great ideas for meals. I subscribed the moment you said you had a blah day and we all have them. Preach girl! I can't wait to watch more videos. Have a fantastic day 💜
I was watching you on the video of Sunday . Cooking dinner for your family.i like your earrings they are so cute.. keep doing what you are doing on you tube. God bless you and your family.
Hi! I saved my old bread and made croutons instead of throwing it away! I cut bread in cubes, sprinkled oil on them and toasted them in the oven. I crumbled up some day old cornbread and mixed it with croutons and made dressing! Dressing was really good! I served it with pork chops and gravy and roasted brussel sprouts! Waste not want not!!!
your video has exactly the kind of recipes I needed. Canned food is often the cheapest to buy, but there are not a lot of recipes I can find that use canned food. Your meals are realistic and useful!
Appetizer- I use the store brand of stuffing mix to stuff mushrooms, then add a tiny bit of cheese to each one. It’s always a hit because it’s perfectly seasoned for you.
Since it is just my husband and I now I used frozen diced onions also peppers. I can buy a big bag sepperate into smaller bags for single use and refreeze until needed. Saves time and no watery eyes.
Brooke you look beautiful in this video. I'm hooked, i watch you and the family all the time. God bless you and the boys. Keep spreading kindness and your recipes ❤
I tried your chicken and dumplings for dinner and I couldn't believe how good such a simple recipe would taste. I did add a little poultry seasoning for a little more flavor. Keep up the simple meal ideas, I'm compiling them for my 20 year old son for when he moves out at least I'll know he wont starve or waste his money by eating out all the time. 😅
you can get a couple bags of frozen mixed vegetables a can of tomato juice and a 1/ 2 to 1 pound of hamburger meat and put everything in your instapot and cook for 20 minutes. it makes some wonderful soup!😋 cook some chicken breast bbq sauce and a tablespoon of mayonnaise in the instapot. cook till chicken is done (15 minutes???) and serve on buns for bbq sandwiches!😋 beans with a ham bone, cabbage and smoked sausage, quick spaghetti with hamburger meat, fried potatoes and onions with eggs and bacon, then blt sandwiches! (we add colby cheese!😁😋). Ham and eggs, rag grits cook a pot of grits and scramble 3 or eggs in a bowl. pour in the grits while you are stirring the grits and its done really fast. Oatmeal with sausage brown sugar and schredded cheese id great too! (mama made this for us when we were kids.) fried bologny and egg sandwiches.😁😋 the list goes on and on! I love your channel. and Im subscribing now! Enjoy the adorable boys they grow up fast!!!!😍 Cheryl
You are just an amazing girl!!❤❤❤❤ I love your sweet family!! You have such a kind spirit, and we need people like you making great and helpful videos!! With prices going sky high, your genius ideas for frugal meals are so needed right now!! God bless!!❤❤
I have a great way to make it look bigger. I line the 9x13 pan with 6 slices of bread. Then add the other ingredients on top like you normally would. It gives a fluffier texture & makes it look bigger.
At the beginning you played my cousin Jimmy's song. 😁 May have to make chicken and dumplings that way. Never thought of just using the soup and biscuits. Yum. I'd normally make it with just chicken, broth, mixed veggies. With biscuits. Love your meal ideas. Ranch with pizza. Yum.
I usually make homemade biscuit n dumplings too but this would be a quick week night version. My husband and kids love them. I make my dumplings small too. That's how my family prefers them. Small and lots of them!
I think you're a wonderful wife and mom! Trying to feed a family, when prices keep going up and up is difficult. You solved that problem by thinking of delicious meals on a budget ! All,of you be safe , healthy prosperous and spiritually connected mto God! Lol
Pepper is a very healthy condiment. I don't care for it too much, but add it anyway. I try to use as little salt as possible because I retain water so easily. I totally enjoy this channel and Aunt Vickie and Dusty's, too. I hope to see Aunt Vickie and Dusty do a few collaboration videos for filling time when in a situation of having no TV, video games or phone services while waiting through a bug out situation or waiting for electricity to come back on. The downtime with nothing to do can be the worst thing.
I have my notifications for every video turned on for you. For some reason I’m not getting my notifications. I’m glad I finally found you again though😅. You are awesome.
These meals all look great! I will definitely be trying them. Although now, they will probably cost almost $10 a meal. (Maybe that's a slight exaggeration) But eggs at our Aldi were $3.79 this week and chicken was on a good sale for $2.99/lb. These are crazy times. Thankful for the great ideas! Blessings to you and your family!
New subscriber! Found you today. Family loves these kinds of meals and was happy to be reminded of biscuit dumplings. Looking forward to finding previous videos.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I appreciate that you acknowledged you weren’t having your best day. It is OK to not be Ok. Everybody has those days,
I want to day thank you. Not for the cost. For the ease. I'm a working mom who struggles with yummy ideas to put together for my family at a fast pace. This video we are doing every meal.
Some comments added after you posted your comment have sent some great sounding casseroles. You might check out the comments for more great ideas. I plan on trying them myself. Brooke amazes me at how she comes up with great ideas in such tight budgets!
Hello from Northern California. I really enjoy your videos. I had no idea what to make for dinner so I found this video and descuides to make the chicken and dumplings. Oh man! It hit the spot. I agree it needs lots of pepper. Mmm 😊 Looking forward to the recipe video. Have a blessed week.
Thanks for another great video! I already have the ingredients on hand for the chicken and stuffing recipe, so I am going to try it this week. Love your recipes. You are a true treasure.
Brooke, may I ask? Where did you find your Stevie Nicks t-shirt you're wearing on your Sunday dinner part of the video? I love Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks! The $5 meals ideas are a hit! You're so frugal and have grea💡ideas!!! ❤❤❤
🙋Thanks for this video! I made the chicken and dumplings. Yum! (I added veggies and homemade broth and alitte canned chicken and had all the ingredients)🤸🤸🤸
