Thanks Peter, we appreciate your comment! That's really how we wanted it to be, honest. At the end of the day, even though a high quality racket definitely helps you to make better shots and spins, it's more about the player than the racket 🙂 Maybe next time we'll make a comparison video with a $500 professional level racket? 😀

@@kouignamann8691 Yes, the difference between the two rackets becomes evident in *game-play* as both the blade and rubbers have a lot better technical features in the 5 star, but in many trick shots also the 1 star racket can do surprisingly well as seen! 🙂

@christiang5209
@christiang5209 2 года назад
@@barbarictearemedy personally in this price category i would go into a table tennis shop. Often they have an table inside and the sales person can give you a hint what fits good for you. In this price category you find a lot of good rackets (or configurations), but nearly non player is using the same .... For 140$ you are also at the lower end, of club players you might also find configurations of pro players you can afford. (often the wood will destroy this calculation at least in germany) Also i think it is important, to have the wood in your hand because there are different shapes and weigth distribution who fits one person but not the other ... One very cheap rubber which is even used by chinese pros (and beginner) is the dhs hurrican, it is very tacky so i am not so sure if it is the best for the beginner but the price/value for this is insane ... With two of this rubber and a solid racket you have a very good racket for 100$ if its fit your playing style, which you could consider into your decision process. If the 'Sensei' is good or bad i can not say, but i find you get few information about it and you only can buy it online which is a knock out for me in this price category. Edit: or ask your coach, i guess most people who buy more expensiv rackets have one ;) Most times the best decisions, and if you start training come with a cheap one, you can often borrow some different rackets, which give you a feeling what fits best for you.

Personally I still have a cheap racket. I started with a 5 euro one, now a 15 euro one. I do have some nice spin on it. But only play outside with my girlfriend ^^, but I do enjoy it a lot. I think spending 250 euro on 2 rackets to play outside or even as a beginner when you are not sure you are playing long term is pretty expensive. I would say, as a beginner, once you know for sure you are committed to tabletennis you might as well buy an expensive one. You will probably end up with an expansive one anyway.
@jonathanoh7794
@jonathanoh7794 2 года назад
I mean like there are decent ones at around 50 so like I would start with those and then move up. A cheap racket can influence your play, as if it doesn't have much spin, you would naturally cut or hit harder, and when you fully commit to playing, it would be pretty difficult to adjust.
@KyoFanDuB
@KyoFanDuB 2 года назад
@@jonathanoh7794 50 euros for a begginner its to much bro. A lot of begginers just plays for fun with friends or people you meet outside. I guess better to start with the cheap ones... If you like a lot the game then go for the expensive.
@florianbunzel
@florianbunzel 2 года назад
@@KyoFanDuB depending what is the definition for a beginner, which every beginner should see differently for himself. If you are planning to go to a club to learn the sport, than you should not be too low on the budget, therefore 50 euros is okay. But ofc, if you only play outside without intention of playing in a club than you can go lower, obviously
@Nive-wt7xu
@Nive-wt7xu 2 года назад
For the kids in our club, we always tell them that either racket is fine depending on what they want. If they want to properly learn how to play and commit long-term, play league games and such, there's no way they can do it with a walmart type of racket. In this case they're better off buying a professional one rather sooner than later, because it destroys their technique when they first learn to play with a cheap one and then switch to another one too late. Anyways, the Pongfinity racket is far too expensive no matter how you look at it.

Back when I played competitively our family had an Australian representative player stay with us as he was up for a tournament. My brother and I both played "competitively" and we both struggled to score a point against the player when we were playing with decent quality bats and he was playing on a bat with no rubber. The skill of the player definitely makes more difference than the bat but the bat allows a player to do much more and more easily.

When i played as a young dude, i had 2 rackets. A light one, with only 2 layers, and a heavy one with 4 layers. IF you are used to the light one, you have more control over your power and direction, because it is less accellerating the ball by its design, but by your input, you choose more, and it does get influenced less by the spin of the opponent, because it has less grip of course. Also it is lighter, so, over a match, your arm gets less tired, and your shots stay the exact same , if you are well trained, whilst with a heavy racket, it can happen, that you don't even get, that you are a bit exhausted, because it still gives you the magic power by its design. A heavy Racket is comfy and better if you work with spin a lot. But if you are a power player, a light racket can be so nice. Also a little trick is, wipe it over the sweat on the arm, and dry it right after on the shirt, so it is super clean, and almost has grip like the heavy one, but it is LIGHT :-p . It is like in Tennis. A soft tension on the racket gives you more power and spin, a hard tension, more control, and spin neutralisation. It really depends on your playstyle. But whom i tell. You guys are cracked af.

I played in my mid teens and got very good with proper rackets and a lot of grip on the rubber. I came back to it 30 years later and all the training was still in me. But I wasn't hitting as well. I played against a good player at a university, and after a couple of games where he beat me easily we swapped rackets. He had my 'good' racket from a general sports store, marketed as 'high grip', and I played with his actually good racket. Suddenly my flick backhands off the serve were going in and past him. I won the game. You can play with any racket, but having a good one truly does make your game better. It felt great because I suddenly was playing nearer my old level. Only problem was his tiny pen-grip handle. I'll get back to it again before long, and I'll be getting a decent racket.

Since rubbers usually lose their grip after approximately 100 hours of play (give or take), can you actually rebuy only the rubbers from you? I remember doing this at school. You can get an amazing kill shot if you time the swing right!

on the first one I don't think it was the racket's fault. I noticed how you were holding the 1 star racket, and you didn't put as much spin on the ball as you did with the 5 star racket. Also, the way you guys were doing it, it seemed like you have all done the trick before.
