I used to swim across to the other side with my classmates after school during the dry season. Way back in the 70s, the river was clean with population around a few hundred thousands then. Most of the traffic was bicycles, cyclos, mopeds, and a only a few cars. Only memory lives on as I had to leave the country in late 1979. Cambodia has come a long way!
Did you notice the two color of the water in this river when the boat is beyond of the bay at the left side. One side is clear water as blue and the other side is opaque because of the intersection between mekong river and Tonle Sab River. In front of Royal palace, is the intersection of 4 river such as Tonle Sab River, Mekong Loe, Mekong Krom and Tonle Basak. With this we call Tonle Chak To Mok means the four faces river. (I am sorry because my English is not good but I hope it is understandable).
The monk allow to drink 24 hrs. except alcohol. And I believe that they can eat from sun rise to before noon. The exception when they are not well they can eat and drink 24 hrs. Because some medication needs to take with food. Hopefully that will answer some of your concerns.
Please stay much more longer in Cambodia sir🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️ I love your personality as well as your videos about Cambodia 🇰🇭❤️❤️ and really appreciate your kindness to our people too sir 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️

New sub. Ohh yeah,, I clicked the LIKE and as you see,, posting a comment. I watched a couple of Chris's videos from a few months back and like his energy, his interaction with the locals and how well he describes the details of those sights he's pointing out for us.
When I lived in Phnom Penh, I like touring on this kind of boat as well. in 2014, the price was only 5000 Riels. 10 years has gone so fast. I really really miss the time on the boat tour.
There are different types of monk. The city monk, the village monk, the forest monk that sleep in the jungle and do meditation there to keep their mind clean and learn something new. Monk have different rank and different level as well, the highest rank they only eat one a day. Back in the day, some people is so poor that they can’t afford to look after their kids, so they send them to the monk to look after them and when they grow up, they become monk. Some become a monk because they commit to much crimes and want to be a good person, some want to become a monk just to show respect to their parents for giving birth to this world. Hard to explain but there are many things to learn about the monk, even I don’t know much about the monk himself 😅 but I hope you get some of the ideas 😊
They only eat breakfast and lunch. But in the evening they are allowed to drink. As for money, people donate to them personally for their services during funeral ceremony or wedding, so yes they do have their money.
You should visit Kep and Kampot. It’s a province with beaches. And you should visit siem reap right now at Angkor wat. There’s an Equinox going on right now. It’s very rare to see.
You are right about Cambodia past and future. They have been talking about light train from the new airport being built and a subway around the city also a double bridges crossing Tonle Sap and the Mekong rivers. Hopefully, they will happen in the next 10 years.
The monk are only allow to have food from morning until noon they are forbidden to have dinner but as long as it is liquid like coffee it is fine with the rule
Phnom Penh has definitely come a long way after everything Cambodia has gone through. I agree with you with that in 10 or so years, it will be as big as its neighbouring Asian cities. lets hope it still keeps it charm. thank you for sharing. you have earned yourself a new subscriber!!
You cant beat that boat ride price anywhere, with beautiful view of the city and $.75 cent beer. I would drink couple cans and enjoy it. Cambodia is affordable and many RU-vidrs dont know about the boat rides. Way to go Chris! You also need to visit Euro Park in Phnom Penh and Phnom Penh Safari
Be safe for travel in Cambodia bro I’m really enjoying all your videos trips and hopefully I’ll see you one day bro, you’re a nice guy I respect your kindness to everyone including my people you been helping out there❤️🙏
Again with the crazy tuktuk prices lol Riverside is almost walking distance from Basaac Lane. Agreed on the safety too. Been here 8 months and been completely fine. I recommend Sihanoukville/Koh Rong for a future video series!
Hi Chris, let me explain you a bit more about Buddhist monks. Actually, monks are allowed to drink any type of soft drinks. Monks eat 2 times a day, breakfast, lunch and skip dinner, but they are allowed to drink soft drinks all day long.
🍺Cheers! Great boat ride to enjoy some dinner & drinks while the sun is setting. Very cool. I didn't like all that garbage by the water. It's very sad to see. Other than that, it looks like a great time. 🫶
My friend Everytime you drink most beer in Cambodia don't forget to check the beer tab you might win the prize. Yes seriously 😊 enjoy man and appreciate you to share my beautiful country to the world.
Hi Chris! Thank you for showing Cambodia to the world. Where is the guy that talked with you in front of the Royal Palace. Why didn't he come with you?
Great contents from Cambodia. Liked the little rant you had about Cali, so true. Anyway how are you able to use cells service there and uploading videos. I heard internet services and cells communications not convenient and difficult most of the time. Go to Battambang? My birthplace…
Such a nice vibe on the boat ride. The people are so nice. It was kind of a shock when you mentioned the killing fields, how would someone mistreat such sweet people? It seems so long ago?
