Just take into consideration, these are rifles that Numruch Gun Parts & Sarco declined to buy for $15 each because the labor involved made them unprofitable to sell as parts. Ishapore wood does not bring premium prices either. But if you need parts for rifles you already have, it's the cheapest way to get them. 🤠
Numrich probably also didn’t want to have to deal with putting drill rifles on their books that they were then either going to have to destroy or sell.
Indeed!!! I can't believe he paid 250 for that!!!! I bought a couple Enfields a long time ago for 29 bux and they looked a million times better than these!
Took a couple DP's like those and ground out the plugs, a simple spot weld on one side is all that holds them in. Then I sleeved them for 22 long rifle, welded up the receiver ring and made fantastic plinkers. Since the firing pins are cut, all you have to do is cut them down to the right length as original .22 SMLE trainers and put an SMLE .22 bolt head on and head space it. I even used the empty magazines to catch the .22 casings. Since Enfields have skyrocketed in the last couple years I developed a method to repair the receiver ring and if it has a mint bore (most do, not sure why a lot of these were DP'd unless deemed simply obsolete. Even the actions were great) weld up the chamber holes and sleeve it and make shooters out of them again. Of course the actions need fully checked, headspaced to make sure there's no micro cracks, stretching or anything preventing proper headspace especially along the shoulder locking surface. I have access to a gun repair shop so it was easy for me. On that note BRP is selling SMLE barreled receivers that have the chambers drilled but not the receivers in blocks of 4 or 5 for cheap. You could use these DP's and those receivers...
Always a great time with these videos. I love your enthusiasm and energy, it’s infectious, and just what I needed after 40 years of collecting milsurp rifles!
50 dollar magazines and bolts, basically. Not terrible. Especially since y'all will have em on the gunbreaker for 250 each by the end of thr first day you get em out and degreased.
I plan to buy a batch of ishapore rifles to restore 5 receivers of British enfield. The issue is my FFL wants to charge $25 for each rifles so the price of the rifle goes to over $75 each. Any other ffl like this?
Hey Ready after watching your video i ordered one of the DP rifles from Century and it was a good one. only missing the top hand guard and front sling part. i ordered the front hand guard and sling part from Apex both DP parts. I now have a complete DP rifle, glad i did ,great wall hanger.
Depends on how they were Demilitarized, and even then I’d probably not shoot anything more powerful than under powered or black powder cartridges, or as a smooth bore 410… usually these were Demilled because their receivers or bores are shot out of spec. So do so at your own risk.
It is a shame that you have been reduced to getting rifles like that and the prices that you are stating for pieces are insane. Makes me not want to shoot my good pieces that I bought back in the 80's & 90's.😟
Okay guys I tried for almost two months with daily messages to try to order these and to no luck. Spoke to a lady at centry arms. They officially sold out this week. So no more. Good news. She says a new shipment is coming but with a slight increase and unlike the $50 offering these will be complete rifles. If the price is around $75 with it being complete it still very well could be worth it.
DP is still a firearm down there eh? Sometimes weird how our countries differ. I've got a cock-and-click Sten sitting on my desk that anyone can buy and own.
Looks like century wanted to put out the garage but you know what they say ONE MANS JUNK IS ANOTHER MANS GOLD 😂, you very possibly have more passion than I do lol 😂
Only problem I have with century is their website itself. It's clunky and half of everything they list is "find your dealer". Either you have it or your out of stock.
You should have put that $250.00 in a pickle jar and saved up for a decent Enfield, unless you just wanted to render the Cosmoline to re-sell. On a related topic, the only part of a No. 1 SMLE I've ever needed to replace was the extractor spring.
I ended up buying 3 after seeing this (I didn't want to gamble with 5) I got a lot of functional smle barreled-receivers (smooth bore) that I bough for 40 bucks back from Century which will need stocks. Century is such hit and miss when you don't know what you're getting. But I had such a pleasure collecting Milsurps from them for almost 2 decades now. Most of my collection were from Century. My most fav collection I purchased from them was a 1939 Luger, 1877 colt lightning, my 1890 Ottoman Empire Mauser (still in 7.65×53mm Mauser), and my 1917 Lithgow SMLE.
boigjt a really nice sporterized enfield, went the same route you did, bought a dp rifle from j and g instead of century and got my enfield back looking stock. bonus, ive got a nice sporterized wall hanger.
bottom of the barrel rifles without a doubt. Might be able to make one good rifle out of them...other wise might be worth more for parts,,,might be able to recover a buck or two as scrap metal. These might be nice dust collecting wall display rifles once cleaned up.
Have you ever thought of getting an ishapore nato barrel and reciever and replacing the DP barrel and reciever (also all the small parts for ishapor as well-ive done it it works superbly).
Back when Century was importing tens or hundreds of thousands of Mosin Nagants they would sell off the ones with issues for $20. They were called “u-fixems”. I bought many and still have some. Sometimes they were trash and sometime it was a cracked or missing handguard or front sight, etc. always worth the $20 in parts.
I believe the rifle with the solid red band means it’s a different caliber…P14’s/M1917s with the red bands indicated that they were chambered for .30-06 not .303.
There are 5 rifle cartridges I can find anywhere in the world, .303, 30-06, 7.62/51,30-30,7.62/39. Im a Big fan of the p 14 in .303 for hunting, interesting video...thanks.
Sorry if I am dumb but anytime I try to use century arms I go to the site and it shows the gun in the instance the enfield and it says find a dealer. I know my local dealers dont have them. Where do I order online? I am near Memphis so I dont see a issue of somehow ordering them.
@@gunsforevery1 odd usually I order and give them my information and FFL information. Then its shipped to my FFL and then I sign the paperwork when I go to pick it up. I did this on a few sites. This way seems backwards or less efficient.
ONLY FFLs and or C&R license holders can order from them. It’s honestly dumb. So either you need a C&R license or speak to your ffl to have them order something for you but keep in mind they will charge a transfer fee and MAYBE a charge for having to order it for you
@@64KarmannGhia they are an importer. Not a retailer. That’s why. They don’t want to waste time with you making an order. Waiting on an FFl to come in before shipping. If you have an account made they already have your stuff on file and just send it right away.
@@64KarmannGhiathanks that’s exactly what I was wondering. Kinda sad really seems like they could loose out on some businesses like that. Was wondering because some of the weapons on the page you can add to cart and others not. Anyway good info to know thank you!
Fellow Georgian here. After watching one of your Ishapore Drill Purpose videos I took inspiration and bought one of these things to refurb a 1917 No.1 MKIII* that had been sporterized. You are spot on about these things being a spare parts bonanza. The wood on the one I got was in surprisingly good shape and none of the metal or wood parts were stamped "DP" except for underneath the nose cap. I left the red and white stripes on there as well as the small rack number on the stock. Thanks for doing these vids.
