@@AutoAuctionRebuilds I did watch all the way through, but I didn't hear anything about the cap. I am glad you got it home with out any more issues. I am not that lucky with cars.
Ever since I was 17 I’ve always kept an impact gun, impact socket set and regular tool set in my car. They make it so much easier and faster to do stuff like tires on the side of the road.
My 93 Lexus ls400 was all original when i bought it and the plastic thermostat housing is still good. It's because the coolant is supposed to be cold on the top
I see this Cruze and made me remember of the 2013 Chevy Cruze LTZ I once had. The common issues are: * Valve Cover * Water Outlet not Thermostat Housing * Coil pack * EGR valve Very minor issues but it adds up. There's more things that will go bad on it but if you're able to take care of those things; you can very much have a decent reliable car
I won't use their name but you know who I mean. You just gotta love the company you bought the car from. I sometimes wonder, when they interview lift drivers, they give them a test to make sure they can do as much damage as possible moving the cars around. Someone needs to call them out on this!!!!!
Things you need in your car at all times... (assuming your vehicle has a spare) 1/2 cordless impact(Ryobi is cheap and effective), ATA reversible lug socket set, scissor jack with 17mm or 19mm drive nut. From experience.... Turn that 1-2 hour blowout/flat tire nightmare into a 5 min tire swap anyone can do. That impact, sockets and jack might total you $200? The cost of one tow? Totally worth it. Plus you can help others! Build up that karma!
@@artlayton1425 haha very true! I am guilty of forgetting the fire extinguisher. Luckily I have never had to use AAA. They can be a lifesaver if you don't have any tools or know how.
My grandma. left me her car when she passed away in March 17 2003. It was a 1992 Subaru Legacy Sudan. It sat in my driveway for years. It just needed a battery it started right up. It needed a lot of work. Awesome video
I did that on my old 1980 Honda Accord Hatchback. Putting the smaller tires on the front gave it a somewhat sporty profile and it drove just fine for me.
I have a 2014 1.4L Chevy Cruze. It’s a cheap gas saver commuter car. I agree with you, I think these are great for what they are. So far just regular maintenance and only one issue being the turbo which is the common cracked waste gate. I’m glad to hear you have gotten 200,000 miles out of yours, that means I should have lots of life left in mine! I hope you make a good bit of content for this car so I can learn for any potential issues I might see. Thanks for all the great content!
bought a Jaguar and a BMW recently from Copart. Guess what? Forklift driver idiots completely ruined rear part of front bumper, and rear IRS/rear axle frame. Damage was definitely not there when I inspected the car before auction. they should find different ways to move the cars around.
Actually, the thermostat housing is bottom left under the turbo. You're referencing the water outlet, which I'm all to familiar with in my girlfriend's car, lol. A $15 part caused a catastrophic head gasket failure 🤔
Hell yeah randy didn't expect a win video on Monday last I remember you were doing weekends. Loving the content keep it up buddy and hope you and your wife are alright from the accident.
Plastic thermostat housing and plastic water outlet w/ temp sensor in it on my 2010 Mazda 6. Never overheated. The rubber gasket on the water outlet crapped out at 307K miles last December. Same gasket on the thermostat hasn’t failed yet. I’m getting The original thermostat and water pump replaced soon, I don’t want a failure, now it has 345K, to leave me stranded this winter.
You are right Randy. That's the way you have to do it, for good content for us. Everything on the spot. So we can see what to buy and how to buy. Other thing, you will now what you bought, driving it home. Keep up with the good work. Love it.
You have a wonderful time making these videos, and all of us have a wonderful time whatching these videos! Please keep up the good work! Greetings from Milan, Italy!
If i remember right randy, the key works when the car isn’t running, my car won’t lock/unlock off the keyfob unless the keys in my hand with the car off
quick tip for yeah, i believe thats not the thermostat housing thats leaking, its a water outlet housing, just thought id let you know because there is also a thermostat housing
Time to do some sketchy stuff doo da doo da, hope I get away with it la da doo da day. Lol I love your riskier trips, edge of your seat minute to minute action and never one staged or dull moment. Raw, real and out there
I always thought the Chevy Cruz was a good looking car, but everybody I know with one isn’t happy with it. The Suzuki Kazashi looks very similar to that style Chevy Cruz.
Happy Thanksgiving it’s coming up this Thursday eat plenty of turkey chill with the family You got a good deal for that car bro. Always come prepared bring your tools and everything you going to need
It's really great to see your videos, you seems to have so much fun with every car you win from the auction, I would love to have an auto auction close by to me also. Keep up the good work.
that key fob button still works (unless it’s dead😂) you just can’t use it while the key is in the ignition. i had a 2013 malibu with the same key and it wouldn’t work while in the ignition
bro we have a 14, 2 bad water pumps, head gasket, thermostat, valve cover, intake manifold, both 02 sensor , fuel rail sensor, Turbo, 3 coolant lines, 2 clamps, coolant tank, oil leak from somewhere, purge valve. 100k miles
The Chevy Cruze has to have the key removed from the ignition before the trunk can be opened. the key fob or the button above the license plate is the only way to open the trunk. I have a 14 Cruze.
I’ve heard nothing but bad things about these cars from turbos blowing oil return lines Making people THINK their head gaskets are blown! But they’re not! And trans failure before 100k miles now that is a raw deal! But just watched another guy who bought a cruise on auction for cheap! Was told engine damage It was blowing white smoke from engine and tail pipe and it was just the turbo! He got a cheap $200 Chinese made one and car was fixed ran nice! Only had 86k miles and he sold it made huge profit. But it had black leather inside/heated seats/ gps/touch screen radio/ It was white outside With tint window. He paid $900 for it put $300 into repairs And detailed it! And sold it for $5,500 it sold in days!!
how come you did not ask for the manager of the facility and ask them to look at the tires right when you noticed it, they might make a way to either give you replacement tires or something for the damage the loader did
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds gotcha, well i did enjoy your content but if a question is asked and your response is like the way you have then i have no way to justify continue to watch your content anymore, you just lost another subscriber
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds if you would have said it's because the policy of copart, that any damage before, during or after the sale is not resposible of copart, would be a better answer
Very easy part to fix. Coolant outlet, $40 part plus coolant. Replaced mine on the side of the highway with a socket set and vicegrips, 20 minuet job. Tires $50 a tire Waterfall Eco Dynamic tires at walmart. Cruzes are great cars just need some particular loving.
There’s an obvious reason they no longer make these. They weren’t the most reliable from what I’ve seen, particularly the 1.4 engines. Before the complaining comes, obviously the tire damage is the result a careless individual and isn’t reflective of GM's quality.
Replaced my daughters thermostat housing in her Cruze with an all metal housing. It was an 1.8 so not sure if they have one for a 1.4. Took about 3 hours to complete the entire replacement. Not very hard.
If I were you I would just put the two tires you bought on the back and the other two on front. They are so close in size it should never cause any issues.
Great buy that coolant leak is a easy fix it happened to mine as well it been a great car it has 220000 miles still going strong have had to do some maintenance but that’s expected at that mileage
Just a tip; never place your nice wheels FACE DOWN on the ground, you can ruin them. You probably didn't hurt them on the dirt lot but do that on hard concrete and well...ask me how I know.
I have a 13 Cruze and a 13 Sonic both with the 1.4 turbo. The first shift when cold always slips. The leak is coming from the water outlet. The thermostat is on the other side of the motor. Common issue. They are good cars for someone that can DIY. Valve cover, PCV hose, intake manifold, all common vacuum leaks.
Those tires are close enough you cold put the 50's on the back and the 55's on the front. Only real problem is mixing Michelin's with " regular " radial tires.
My mother sold her 2012 ECO Cruze this past year because she got another new car. She bought the Cruze brand new and put roughly 90k miles on it before it had its first minor problem of a failed water pump. Other than that she didn't have any other problems with the car. It was a fun car to drive when i would borrow it.
congrats on "winning" a money pit of a car! the 2012 Cruze I once had a 1.8L eco tech engine, it too ate up thermostats, leaking valve cover gasket and as a bonus the head gasket went and had oil on the coolant system and all that fun stuff. And the trunk button did not work. The key fob eventually disintegrated, And the every plastic connector in it was made from the most brittle plastic GM could find. Traded it in for a 2015 GMC,,,no regrets.
Yes I remember your new Cruze as uberman, so proud as a peacock.🦃 And yeah forklift operator is a hard job, sometimes they are completely blind. See all the popped front and rear bumpers flat tyre and a lot more damage. And paying back for them mistakes no way, and they charge any car 400$ buyer fees or more.
Man Randy haven’t seen a Chevy Cruz on the channel since your last one it’s good to see you picked up another one for all the OG followers we should remember that Chevy Cruz
Randy you need to get a contribution off IAA,thats clearly the fault of the fork lift driver, who by the way should be sacked.Looks like IAA are as bad as copart.
If its the 1.4L Ecotec you're gonna need to look into a few key things on that engine. There's a PCV issue that you need to get a fix kit for (GM never addressed it) Gm issued new valve covers as they tend to leak air. You're gonna wanna replace that. The PCV issue can lead to the oil feel line in the turbo to clog up. These love to blow headgaskets.
There is a trunk release button on the trunk on the outside by the license plate lights. My neighbors Chevy Cruze has the button by those license plate lights.
My first car was a 2012 chevy cruze LS with no turbo. Had it for 7 years. It was a nice car. Good on gas but the maintenance on it just became a car payment on a paid off car. So I sold it 2 months ago. I miss it, but I don't miss it being in the shop every other month.
I have a 2015 Chevy Cruze LT giving lots of problems always replacing parts and fixing it until I gave up and sold it crazy thing is it had low mileage.
I have 2014 chevy Cruze there is no manual trunk latch and you can’t open the trunk until you unlock all of the doors… so just press the unlock button in the middle console and the trunk will open with the button on the trunk
Valve covers heat and warp then the new ones do it again in 30k miles! Only way to get a perm fix is replace the valve cover for metal one Yea they’re 200-300$$ but you won’t have to do it again!
I feel like GM has a decent reliable midsize sedan which is the Malibu. I don’t know why they came out with the Cruze. I’ve heard a lot of bad stuff about them. 😬😬😬
Reminds me of a red Cruze that my mom once rented in late 2016 after hitting a deer in her 2014 Accord. Bright red, black leather interior and automatic transmission. Wasn't really anything to write home about.
