My granddaughter is only 17 years old and she already has her pilot's license. She'll be starting college for commercial piloting in the Fall. She lives in NE. Her dad is in the Air Force and they live off the Offutt base.

Brad, I haven't heard of anyone doing a "pressed ham" in ages. I was drinking water when you said that and I damn near choked on it, haha! For those who don't know, a pressed ham is when you put your naked butt cheeks up against a car window to "surprise" passersby!.Back in the day it used to be considered funny, or at worst rude. Nowadays a person would probably be arrested!

Are these jobs being put on hold for emergency situations with the tornado? You should try to get as much materials as possible to complete these jobs. Lumber and building materials are going to be scarce with all the rebuilding. Eben if its just things you wil eventually use up like plywood, 2x4s, 6s, 8s, screws, brackets, drywall, ect. Fill your shop with pallets of the necessities. You will use and sell it to clients eventually. Over the next year things will probably be on back order. If not you will use it eventually.

Metal that is in direct contact with wood will eventually rot out. Metal gets condensation and over the years that condensation rots the wood. If wrapping metal over wood make sure the wood gets wrapped with some type of house wrap material to protect the wood from contacting the condensation from the metal.

Didn't cutting out the floor joists transfer the load of the upper floor to the top of that nanawall? I don't see a header above the nanawall, just the I joists that seem to be running continuous

Hey Brad, instead of using treated lumber, what if you used the steel framing from trex? I can't remember what they can span, but it seems like they are made to be sistered together for longer spans or extra weight

Use electric radiant flooring to remove snow and ice from the deck. They can turn it on and off every time its necessary

A few things. How good is the wood behind that tar. Is there a water barrier and if so, is it done correctly? Is the vaper barrier put in right? After watching so much of Mike Holmes having to redo what the home inspectors did not see and or point out after someone buys a new home or has a home fixed up, i'm starting to learn a lot on what to look for when it comes to rebuilding parts of a house. It might be a little extra work for fixing it but I would remove the tar from a few spots where the water damage was the worse just to see what it looks like behind the tar. Was the decks built so water could slide right off and go down below?
