I do not intend to offend you, but you are a throwback to "old-time cooking". Your knowledge of seasoning, buying, and budgeting is phenomenal for your age. I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good (sometimes hard) work.

As a Brit I can tell you that it's a shepherd's pie because shepherd generally denotes someone that looks after a sheep herd, and so lamb, hogget or mutton would be the correct meat/protein to use. That being said use whatever you've got and call it DASQ (don't ask silly questions) pie!
@rainandthangz

there's cottage pie and the shepherd's pie . Shepherd uses lamb etc , cottage pie uses any other kind of meat like hamburger do they both use mashed potatoes on top?

Looks stunning! May I ask where you learned to cook? My mom didn't teach me how to cook she way she did, now I am often clueless when it comes to the more traditional meals, although I can cook quite well. If you like green asparagus, you could try out my favourite recipe with it: in a bowl, mix the same amount of oil and dark balsamic vinegar and add garlic (fresh), salt and pepper to your liking. Pour it over the asparagus and roast it in the oven until it's nice and golden.
@ThatLisaDawn
@ThatLisaDawn 3 года назад
I grew up eating mostly ramen, grilled cheese, and cereal. I taught myself about food and cooking through food blogs and RU-vid videos and really didn't start learning to cook until I was in my mid 20s. I think it's just a quirk of my personality (especially about things that cost money) that I obsessively research things before I try them, and that has translated really well into cooking! I've roasted other veggies (especially brussel sprouts) with a very similar oil and balsamic vinegar recipe, but I haven't tried it with asparagus yet. I'll be sure to do so sometime!

Good job! Funny story on me.....years ago when I didn't know a thing about cooking, I decided I would make some homemade broth. I cooked chicken bones and the scrap parts, made beautiful broth, and then put the jars into the fridge to cool. The next day, the jars of broth were so solid, I could slice the broth into slices. I had only seen broth in a can, (pure liquid), so I figured I did something wrong, and pitched it. Afterwards, I found out that was the way good, healthy, broth is supposed to be!

Excellent video. I just so happened to be slow cooking a 7.5 pound shoulder when I saw this video on your channel. I also keep the drippings/juice and find other ways to use it. How I never thought to use it to aid in seasoning refriend beans is beyond me, but that's now in my mental archives, thank you very much :) I'll also be stealing your idea of putting the pulled pork under the broiler before using it for things like tacos. I have only watched a few of your videos so far, but enjoying each one.

Lisa calling all her food "Him" is like us guys naming our cars and boats "She." Love these vids. I love making ranch potatoes, I cut up enough for a gallon Ziploc bag add a stick of real butter in (melted) 1 ranch seasoning packet and evoo bake it at °425 for 45 mins. I mix it up and go five mins on broil to make them crispy, yummy. Keep the peel on and use red potatoes.
