That's pretty nice for a $98 rifle made in 1943. Stock and blue looks great. Just some clean up and its ready to shoot. Thanks for showing. Also as of today I won my fight with cancer.
THX HoBo ya i am going to take it to the range.. i know it will shoot but i might need a new sticker spring to set off this 8mm surplus ammo. We will see THX for watching.
Excellent Sir! Matching bolt and complete...cant beat that. I love seeing these projects, as I really enjoy working on them myself, so thanks for sharing and take care.
Very nice, considering the price, at least nothing was missing, I didn't get a cleaning rod with mine lol, but I have a source for those. Thanks for the shout out sir!
If that rifle cost $98 back in '43 and you picked it up for what you got it, that's a great buy for you. I just looked up what that would be worth today....$98 in 1943 = $1,721.07 in 2023. You did real good from an investment point of view. Plus you have a great piece of history.....double bonus, you might say. I really like your picture on your home page and at the end of the video of the Ketchum Wagon Days Parade wagon lined up. Brings back great memories, Steve. I subbed and Thanks For Sharing!
Howdy ME ya Hunters Lodge has 20,000 of those rifles for sale for $98 and they do need some work. I got a good one from them.. luck of the draw. THANKS for watching. RUSTY
military surplus carbine collector looks like you got a good one.. you got alot more rust underneath than mine had but no cracks in the stock! hope it shoots as good as it looks!
I just received my first order from Hunter's Lodge. I bought a $90 1910 Mexican Mauser and one of these $99 M43 Spanish Mauser. I ordered in late September and received my order in late January (basically 4 months). With shipping, the total order was right at $250. I ended up with two (mostly) functional rifles. My M43 is complete but was way dirtier than the one the Rusty Surplus got (but better looking than the one Casual Collector got). The Mexican Mauser needed an extractor for the bolt and had the front part of the stock cut off, but other than that was in good shape. A thorough cleaning and oiling and they will both be good to go. I've placed another order and I'll see how that turns out.
Kiot You got them.. nice Ya at Hunters i wish they would get with the program and it would be better for every one. Kiot they have got the good deals there but you got to send in the order and WAIT. My 1916 Mauser .. the front of the stock was broken off and i had to glue it back together. check it out 5:50 minute ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WmwavGV6jK4.htmlsi=Rce5t_wMvd3ruTaq hope your rifles are shootable and clean up well. RUSTY
God bless you for saving it and I will say that I will pray for you that you are always safe firing these old rusty historical pieces. As long as the head space is good and the bore is good and bright you can feel confident in the rifle.
@@RUSTYSURPLUS wouldn't miss it and I joined with your friends channel also. I am working on a channel soon just got to get a camera to go with the phone. Great afternoon to you all.
@@RUSTYSURPLUS I was a little disappointed in that one but its also a $140 Mauser (with shipping) in 2024 so I think that expectations need to be kept appropriate.
I have two of the 1916 .308 Spanish Mausers. One was beat to hell and had rust under the wood, the other one is in excellent shape. So there are nice ones out there, just seems to be way more gnarly ones than nice ones.
I got 2. 1 is in real bad shape which really sucks cause it has the better bore and all matching #s. I had to drill out the bayonet lug pin, it was rust welded. Im afraid im gonna have to take a dang hacksaw to the H band. Will not move...ive been dripping penetrating oil on it and heating it up with a heat gun everyday til i have another day off i can mess with it. Oh the action screws were trashed too, full of rust. Luckily the bolt is in good order, i might get my money back parting it out, will have to see what the trigger and trigger housing look like once i get the dange thing apart. 😅 cant say im surprised at all though, i got what i paid for. If i do get my money back out of it i plan to buy another one from them to see if my luck improves. If not, ill take my loss and go home...
Also considering sporterizing it out if the barrel is shot, see if I can rebarrel it for a more common caliber. Thinking maybe 45-70? , SAMI specs show its a lot less chamber pressure.
Acester 86.. the $98 ones are in bad shape and as far as that barrel band pin get a bigger hammer. Matching numbers is good maybe get that one going. Not one number on mine matched. I have a new P38 video coming out today or tomorrow THANKS for watching @RUSTYSURPLUS
So far so good 😆I just got an Israeli Mauser 308 from them and it needs a good cleaning. gonna make a video soon. Hunters hasn't even advertised them yet. 308 NATO is a great round !!
RU-vid unsubscribed me from your channel for some stupid reason. You did good on this deal, the rust is a bummer but most was under the wood-line and the bore is good. Hard to beat that in 2023 for the cost of half a cart of groceries.
That's a terrible 😔 shame that someone was able to sleep 💤😴 at night knowing that that rifle was rusting away like that. Hopefully it is not too terrible bad.😊
Hey SNAKE Email them here info@hunterslodge.com And ask about there $98 special. Also watch this video my friend made ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R_MMnX1Qdbk.html .
