Go to lowes and buy 10 feet of gutter, 2 end caps and a tube of silicone and make a tank to boil the barreled receiver, Boil it for 45 minutes and it turns red oxide into black oxide and buff it lightly with 0000 steel wool.
Sweet thank you sir, I saw some of your videos recently when I was searching for particular rifles. For some strange reason I forgot to subscribe, my apologies...I just fixed that issue lol. I appreciate the feedback. Btw, you've got some nice rifles. Thanks again.
I would highly recommend boiling. You can build a setup for less than $100 or just get a large turkey/stock pot to use on your stove. All that rust you removed is still here, it's just in the metal, boiling it will pull the rust out and allow you to easily wipe it clear with oil and a rag or steel wool and will prevent it from returning. As is, even with a deep cleaning it will still be rusted, and that rust will continue to cause damage over time. The investment is well worth it if you buy more than a handful of C&R guns every 5 years.
@@The_Casual_Collector Thanks Casual .. i use a 150 cannon video camera. that Go Pro is the way to go though. I am to day starting on my 1943 rifle unboxing and over view. might be out in a few days.. part 1. THANKS again !
I believe those small screws are called lock screws. Do the 98$ mausers ship any faster then the other hunters lodge rifles? I need to see their currents adds.
@Nelson Abbott if it was me, I'd probably give them a call. I know when I spoke to James the other day, they had so many orders for the 30-06 mausers, that they actually stopped taking orders for that rifle.
