Lectric has a new folding ebike, the Lectric XP 3.0. In this video I give an honest review of the bike. A review you can trust as this is NOT sponsored, and I have NOT been paid for my review. I don't even keep the bikes! They are donated after I have finished my analysis and tests. Honest opinions from a trusted source. That's why you come to KevCentral

I'm a 240lb 6'1 guy, and I've been having an absolute blast on this thing all month. The headlight, when properly aimed, provides more than enough light for late night riding (which I prefer). I stuck a Bluewind wide seat black and blue color that matches perfectly. Is like sitting on a comfy bar stool; you can ride for hours in perfect comfort. It's built like a little tank too, everything seems very solid. Hope it lasts, I'm just loving it.😊

If I may ask, what kind of top speed do you get in throttle-only mode?
@ice_fox

@@Milesco 20ish, but I haven't tinkered with removing the limiter. It goes uphill about 15.
@Milesco
@Milesco Год назад
@@ice_fox Thanks for the quick reply! 😊 I've only been getting around 17.5 to 18 mph at best on level pavement, so that's why I asked. Pedal assist speed and acceleration are okay, but throttle-only performance is disappointing. 😕

@@Milesco Yeah, there's lots of hills around here, I'm probably hitting the 20 when going down slight ones throttle only. Pedal assist Lvl 5 you can get going good, like you mentioned.

Great review! For those looking to get some bang for your buck, this is a great value. I purchased the XP 1.0 version in July of 2020 for $899, and am still riding it 6700+ miles later. The 3.0 has many upgrades that seem to defy the additional $100 price increase, all of which I would have wanted. Those upgrades include: front suspension, mechanical hydraulic disc brakes, upgraded gear set, better battery, upgraded electric motor, upgraded light, and wider handlebars. The strongest virtues of this bike are price, value, and portability. It has been a great first ebike, and a lot of fun to ride. Some things to consider - ebikes are heavy, but this one is lighter than most weighing a little over 60 lbs. Throwing a folding bike into the back of your car can be a little awkward, but doable. The bike comes with a 1 year warranty. Maybe I had a little bad luck, but I had to replace my battery a year and 1 month after I purchased it, which cost $300. I currently have 2 years going on the replacement battery. Other items that needed to be repaired or replaced are wear and tear items you would expect: tires, inner tubes, break pads, break cables, and the chain. I have been through quite a few break pads, and the breaks were probably the weakest part of the bike, though the new versions are better I would assume. Flats have been a recurring frustration, that have been somewhat reduced by adding slime to the inner tubes. You will want to do that. All the service on the bike was done at Erik’s that sells and services other brands, but will also work on this one. For safety, I added a rearview mirror and extra lights for visibility both to see, and be seen. I also got a bike cable and alarm for security. At times I have been tempted to upgrade to a better or different bike, but I will probably keep this one a while longer yet. All the virtues that led me to buy this bike remain. There are trade offs buying an ebike under $1,000, but overall this has been a good purchase and a lot of fun to own. Hope this helps.

I live in the Central Florida TV market and have seen lots of TV commercials for Lectric e-bikes. Appears they are going all-in on mass market sales. Good idea...FL is ideal country for e-bikes....year-around riding conditions....almost no hills....very diverse demographic.....the Lectric is priced right for this market

Really like this ebike. I went and bought both Onyx , Rcr and Cty2 . As odd as it sounds i wish i went way less power and went with something like this lectric 3.0 I live in central Florida as well. I took my friends lectric 2.0 for a short ride . Tested it up a decently steep hill around me and even though i weigh 250lbs i was able to pedal assist 16mph up the hill. Found my taste for rides way different then i thought it would be so now ended up putting both my Onyx up for sale.

Very detailed and informative video. Ordered a long range step thru 3.0 and a long range standard 3.0. Giving my step thru 2.0 and standard 2.0 to my teen daughter and sons. @anonmouscriticalthinker1615
Lectric has released a "Rev B" battery plate to correct the battery incompatibility issue you highlighted in your video, although you have to request one as Lectric has not issued a recall/notice about the problem. While the fix seems to work well with non-3.0 batteries (with the rounded handles), there is some slight resistance when closing the frame with the original 3.0 battery (square handle) even after removing the rubber pad from the "bottom" of the battery (per Lectric's suggestion). Kudos to your honesty and temerity as I believe you are still the only RU-vidr (and only "honest review") to mention this issue. Also, Lectric has added some adhesive to the grips so they do not spin freely. Keep up the great work!

Hyd discs would have been nice, but mechanical discs that can easily be adjusted and not leak in my apt will work for me. Thanks for the time and detail you put into this video review. A-Dog 2-6-23
@Milesco
@Milesco Год назад
Yeah, the smaller top gear sprocket definitely helps, and the comfort seat IS comfortable, so I hafta give Lectric credit for that. On the downside, though, the heavily advertised power is not there, especially in throttle-only mode. In throttle-only, the acceleration is sluggish, especially above around 13 mph, and the top speed is only 17.5 to 18 mph. And it goes down from there as the battery discharges. At 40-50% charge, the top speed in throttle-only mode is just 15 mph. ☹

As an avid ebike user, I'm always on the lookout for innovative products, and that's how I stumbled upon a new crowdfunding project called Freebeat Morph 2-in-1 e-Bike. This bike seems to have some outstanding features, especially the ability to charge indoors! I'm really impressed with its brushless 750W motor, delivering impressive torque and speed. The 80mm front suspension and puncture-resistant fat tires also guarantee a smooth ride in any condition. Can't wait to explore more about this exciting product! Keep up the great work!

Good video. Thanks for being concise. I bought the Lectric XP 1.0 and XP 2.0. Both served me well - rode 1,400 miles on the 1.0 and more than 2,000 miles on the 2.0. I am rough on the Lectric ebikes in terms of off-road trails, gravel roads and long distances. My only complaint is controller failures. Between the two ebikes, I replaced controllers 5 times. The Lectric folks tell me that I ride on too much rough terrain. Maybe so. The XP 3.0 looks like a home run and I'll likely buy that one too.

Ended up getting the new xp 3.0, been wanting a daily driver for a while and was gonna wait for black friday but I was already eying the xp2.0 so figured why not. The standard battery is the 10 ah version, 14 ah battery is the +200 long range version. Also their range claims are somewhat misleading. they claim 45-65 miles but their charts on their own website show 45 is the standard's top range at pas 1 and 65 is the long range version at pas 1. Real standard range they claim is 17-45 miles. Not a fan of that sneaky little detail. I don't blame you kev cause it seems everyone says the same range claim. I get the upsale on the battery this is already a competitively cheap bike but can do without trickery. Other than that can't wait to get my bike. Great review!

The 14ah battery is also the most popular mod to the XP, people buy aftermarket ones from China. The thing that I still don't like about the new XPs were the tire change, kinda forcing you to pedal fast to stay at speed. The Aventon Sinch even with the 14-32t freewheel can still do 26/27 just from pedal cadence and no actual effort. I was able to get it to 30 before but very uncomfortably. The bigger tires definitely help with that. I would also wager that the charger is different because the new one would probably be 3amp due to the new battery so you can still have a 4 to 5 hour charge time.

Once I saw how much they actually changed, I couldn't help myself and I sprung for the new model. Got a lightly used 2.0 for sale if there are any takers! 🤣

@@mrjtps He doesn't seem to be responding. Wait til next year, when the 4.0 comes out. Buy a slightly used 3.0 then. That's why I don't buy them. That, and I would urge any healthy person to see what a thousand dollar road bike without electric is like first. You might be pretty surprised. And actually, for Black Friday, you could get an aluminum cruiser for $250, half price, from Retrospec Bicycles, no t on the end. They also offer a twenty six Inch step through electric with available long range battery that I think is a better deal. But E bikes have so much room for improvement, this thing of loving one when it comes out and wanting to dump it when a way better replacement arrives is going to continue for quite some time, and the tiny ranges and massive weight is just too much drawback for me. That's what I would go for if anything, the cruiser for $250. Comfort seat, good geometry, super light weight, 21 speed drivetrain, it's a super sweet bike on sale for less than Wal*Mart junk.

@johnoneal1234
@johnoneal1234 Год назад
@@theonlyconstantischange123 I really am not in to them and am not a good person to ask. For 400 bucks, you can get a 750/48 Bafang mid drive kit and put it on a regular bike and have something worth having, which is not how I see these things. They are too heavy and folding doesn't make them any easier to lift. Black Friday just got over, but I could have bought an all aluminum 21 speed pedal bike for $250, so for $650 I would have had a vastly better bike. Those tiny wheels don't turn very fast, and I am quite sure I would be more comfortable on a full size, upright handlebar bike. You might look at people complaining of having to try to use a strap to keep the folded halves together to lift it into a vehicle, the puncihed fingers, etc. Some people like them, but if space is a concern, you could put a kit on a BMX bike and raise the seat and handlebars...

I am writing this as I die on hold with customer service. My Lectric bike had only 55 miles before it stopped working. This was 3 months ago. They kept shipping parts which takes a min of two weeks if they have it in stock. They shipped 3 different parts and wanted to keep shipping more. I had to fight with them to get them to replace the bike but they won’t do it until they get the bike back even though it is with the shop they recommend. The return process has been two weeks already and the bike is still at the shop. I would not recommend this bike because of the support unless you want to spend $1000 and not have the use of your bike for 4-6 months

just a word of advice to anyone looking to get an Electric bike for any transportation needs, getting a flat tire is rather easy I wish they use better tires probably solid be a great option and if you get one probably few miles from home you will need a ride back and repair is not as easy as a like a regular bike flat repair just be aware!!! also if something fails like a motor control control on mine at 80 miles Lectric will assist you replacing the parts how ever you will do the replacement yourself not difficult. I bought an XP2 wish would have wait for XP3

I have this and love it. However, if you’re short and you want to have a passenger it’s not feasible. They should make these for short people or advertise that you can’t have a passenger if you’re under a certain height. I’m 5’2 and can’t reach the ground with my daughter on the back due to the fact that the handlebars in the back make the seat go up way higher. Also, it’s VERY heavy! I cannot lift alone. If you don’t need to have a passenger get the lite.

My questions are is this the best bike as a starter or should I go with the 2.0 step through? Also, the passenger rack, can it be used for storage instead? I’m also interested in the trailer for toting the pups sometimes. Since I’m not in Phoenix but Texas, I’ll have to order it online. Thanks for the information, it helps to see all the cool features and upgrades.
