We've all seen the rumours online - the Nash Scope carp reels are just rebadged cheap eBay reels, right? We decided to put the gossip to the test. Join us as we take them both apart and catch fish with them. Who's your money on?
If he got the website right not aliexpress its Alibaba he need to go to it's all made I'm the same factory another thing g he got wrong the nash rell just has a better quality checks in place and the Body of the nash reel is painted again in a mat black not a gloss black
100% better if with 2 diawa ss2600s for them same price as one of these dno what nash is thinking with these madness i think there fishing more for the angler lol
Sonik reels are not bad for the price!;) I like Nash , they do have history in carp fishing but their prices are just no right, just like RidgeMonkey! To buy a bivvy off them you’ll need to apply for a mortgage 🏠!!!😂😂😂
Good honest vid. Everything has its place if a very good reel is to high a price then you have to fit your budget. Always worth looking at what is out there that fits your needs,
I have the mela 2 with 12lb diawa sensor I haven't had any line lay issues. I've used this reel solidly on my Sonik xtractor for a year with no problems. I also have two kast king centrons that are 5000 size and have no problems with them. Great reels in my opinion
No Ta, I'll take my Shimano Ultregas at 60 quid cheaper a reel and will probably last me 30 years or more like my original 8010 GT's which are still as smooth as the day they came out the factory!
Tbh im pretty surprised with the X2 Combat Baitrunners, 40 eur reels. But seem to be able to hold up too their counterparts like basic shimanos or nashs
Kastking reels are the dogs danglers and safe for salt water and all mine have a very smooth carbon drag Kastking reels are more for spinning than anything else although I do know they do bait runners but never tried one
Landed a 30lb on the ngt 4000 no problem . They are 25 quid and look just like the scopes . For the price difference its impossible to choose the scopes
Iv got a mela II 3000 for my spinning setup and also a 1000 size one for my drop shot LRF, great little reels for the money but unfortunately kastking have discontinued them
Something I wish you would have touched on is Kastking's misleading marketing. They claim 10+1 bearings. I own a Mela II. There are not 10+1 bearings in it. Not even 10. I counted 7, and 3 of those are stacked up on the spool arm rendering them completely useless sitting there since the spool does not rotate unless under drag. And more expensive reels from Shimano and Daiwa make due with an oil sintered brass bushing here. And lets be honest here, neither the Nash or Kastking are worth what they charge. For $100 the Daiwa's come with brass gearing, better drag systems, ball bearings where they are needed and an overall better build.
That kastking reel has a few flaws and for 30£, I'd buy a Shimano Alivio or Catana (or a Siena). Still, with a washer underneath the spool, the line-lay should be near perfect. That Nash reel is expensive (overpriced). For that sort of money, you can buy a reel from daiwa, shimano or okuma. Companies who at least make their own reels. The nash reel is a chinese off the shelf reel.
Julie Leenaers you are getting ‘line lay’ and ‘line profile’ mixed up buddy 👍🏻 A washer would make the profile more even, but there is no simple fix for that awful line lay!
This happens all the time nothing new. A factory will either develop a product themselves and offer it to the buyers for own (white label) branding or develop it with the retailer, brand. This is called off the shelf and is a starting point to build on. Each brand then makes 7 subtle changes, colour, etc etc to make it their own and trademarks this design. However if another buyer comes along they can again change 7 things and its ok for them too. Also once the factory has fulfilled its order, it offers that design out to other purchases as well. This is where the brand places further orders with the factory to keep the design. If a brand moves from a factory it also loses the design and the factory they move from then offers this design out again.. most things actually cost around 25% of the actual RRP price for a brand. So brand pays $5 (always dollars) this equates to £4.20 plus carriage and import 20% 82p now cost is £5.02 landed (this means delivered to UK port) the brand then usually doubles up the price to Trade (retailers) £10.04, then the retailer doubles again £20.08 or usually rounds up £21.99.....this is exactly the same off the shelf with some design tweaks from Nash.
I've had two kastking and the quality for the price is great, never had an issue. In fact my smaller 3000 reel I prefer over my Daiwa ninja and it was half the price.
Christ £165 for that Nash reel? Why wouldn't you pay about £30 more and get a Ultegra 5500 CI4? #NoBrainer Infact, you could even use a 2018 Daiwa 4012 TDR for around the same money and that is an epic reel.
There’s a lot better reels at around £30, Maver reality 3000 or 4000 still in the £30 price range. Daiwa cross fire 3000 or 4000 again around £30, why you would buy an eBay knock off for the same price as a good beginner reel I don’t know
Because people don’t try and say those reels are “exact” copies of the Nash GT! And to be honest I wouldn’t want to use a daiwa cross fire for 30+ pound fish in a snaggy environment anyway
Just look at the state of nashes previous reels. Bp reels are junk as where their abysmal bait runners they made a few years back. For £135 you could buy x2 dl4000sb's for the price of this that will last decades.
At least BP reels are cheap, I’ve got some bp6 on nash dwarf rods none of it cost a fortune and they work well and look nice. The scope range though isn’t any better imo but ridiculously priced.
I’ve had 4 Nash BP 10 reels for a few seasons (admittedly not as much fishing due to lockdown). I’ve had fish to over 25ib on them and apart from a bit more line twist than more expensive reels, they have been great for £50. Had one big cat fish on and line snapped, but the drag was surprisingly good for a £50 reel. I too would buy Shimano or Daiwa if spending over £150.
I've used 2 nash bp 10 reels and had the shaft wobbling playing a 12lb pasty. The other reel felt a lot heavier than the other even after a strip down and lubricate. I have no problems with cheap gear that does the job but from my own experience these are really poor quality. Maybe you got a different later batch.
the nash may be better but is it over 5 x better i doubt it ...a cheaper real is just that cheaper,,, an over charged item is a rip off ,but we kid our selves and dig deeper into our pockets to keep in with the in crowed is it.more than 5 x better well no//simple.... so which is the honest buy thats the question paying more gets you more but how much more i would say after seeing your video ,the nash was maybe 3 x better but you pay over 5x more as i say witch is more honest,,5 .5 cheaper reals or 1 nash, real and you have change ,sometimes we need a word with ourselves ,
Shimano or daiwa reels are much better and much cheaper, The cool kids want nash reels lool, Not a hater on Nash, I use the titan hide and use there dwaft rods for day sessions and am happy with them, But there reels suck and well over priced.
It's absolutely pathetic that spools having a loading capacity of 250-290 yards of line i can't remember any fish taken more than 100 yards ever i have been fishing 35 years reel manufacturers started to reduce line capacity I'm glad i kept my spool spacers ALIEN
Nash reels are and always will be a con to the unawares angler! Several years ago they released a bloody awful reel selection they were that bad Kev himself apologised on film! All Nash tackle is crap designed to last may be 2 years. I know I was that ripped off angler. The after sales team are rude to say the least!
Read my comments you will see the price of nash rods dont pay their price on scopes when you can get them at 35 quid from nashs manufacturers cut out the middle man
Fools will always throw cash at expensive gear. I fished with my dad and his friends as a kid in the 70's before the tackle industry filled it with BS tackle trends that NO ONE ever needed. I caught plenty of fish on basic split cane rods including large carp and pike. The tackle is always secondary to finding and getting the fish to feed. Fancy baits and gear exist only for the likes of Kevin Nash et all to earn a fortune out of those niave or dumb enough to believe the latest hype. Carp eat anything and everything. Your magic bait just caught you and drained your wallet.
