I first came to know about Greg Davies when I watched a Best of Miriam Margolyes compilation from Graham Norton several videos back. I loved him immediately, and I got BIG recommendations for me to watch Taskmaster in the comments. So many of you said, "Oh- you have to watch Taskmaster," and now here we are! S1 E5 "Little Denim Shorts" :)

While the series 13 cast is probably my favorite, the disrespect they show toward Fred is unacceptable.

For the prizes, they do get to keep them but truly personal or important stuff (like Romesh's wedding ring) usually get given back to be nice. But at the beginning of the show they sign a form saying all the prizes they put up legally belong to the winner. Like in this episode, Frank did keep the cheque from Josh and actually cashed out £19,000. He gave it back to him in cash a week later, but he absolutely could have kept it.

You are completing the Taskmaster Contestants Relationship Cycle. In the first episode you know no one.(Maybe one at most from Graham Norton or Bake-off.) By the second episode you have some favorites. By episode 3 you are all in, they are the best cast ever. By episode 8 the separation anxiety begins and you are in despair over saying goodbye. Then the next series starts and the cycle begins anew.

If you are really interested in British tv I highly recommend ‘Would I Lie To You’ and ‘QI’ and ‘Big Fat Quiz’. All so fun and funny and clever. And they are mostly available on RU-vid

Hey Ashley!! Thank you :) Yeah, so, honestly Taskmaster kind of knocked my adventures with WILTY to the curb. I had such a hard time getting it through copyright clearance, and by the time I had cut enough to make it compliant, it really hindered the effects of the storytelling :( I was working on trying out the best way forward when Taskmaster fell into my lap. So I'm not giving up on it, but it's sidelined for now, at least as far as reactions go. I am VERY interested in QI after the great praise it's gotten, and I'm not as familiar with Big Fat Quiz, so thank you!!

It is sad to see them go, but it’s always fun to meet the new group! Panel shows are addictive precisely because you start to love these people and the more panel shows you watch the more you see the same faces. I know the British channels can be a bit litigious with copyright, I hope you can catch some QI, it’s very good- and even in your own (not filmed) time their podcast No Such Thing as a Fish is very fun and interesting. Big fat quiz would be soooo fun to play on the channel if you have any interest- my partner and I always try and fail miserably to play along. It’s a yearly tradition in our house as soon as BFQ is on RU-vid to get out some paper and try to outdo each other, since we certainly can’t beat any of the panelists. We’re also quite fond of 8 out of 10 cats does countdown- countdown itself is too dry and 8 out of 10 cats isn’t very interactive for the viewer, but we always try our hardest at the mashup and always get real embarrassed how dumb we are.

"8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown" is a great suggestion! I would love to rewatch "Carrot In A Box" through fresh eyes again! 😂😂😂 And David will get more exposure to Roisin Connaghty, and meet many future Taskmaster competitors, including potato-tosser Joe Wilkinson! (Intrigued yet, David?😉😄)

I guess they could have done something messy in the lab to make the Swedish man blush? I love the creativity of this show, both by the contestants and by the creator/writers in coming up with the challenges! Every series/season has great challenges, and hilariously imaginative solutions!😂

Haha true! I mean, I am just in awe, and this is SEASON 1!! They are burning through- what is it, 5?- tasks PER EPISODE. I don't know how they keep doing it. And like someone else mentioned, this is just the UK version! I've heard there's not a lot of overlap in other countries, so that's a lot of fresh tasks to come up with consistently.

I’m globophobic (fear of balloons) too, so I feel Josh’s pain! The good thing about being at the start of your Taskmaster journey is that as soon as you get to the end of this series, you can go straight to the next one and then there’s almost 20 after that! Also, I’m probably wrong here but I think you can leave out the “yo” and just say “soy David”

Aww I'm sorry. Yeah, I worked with a girl who was TERRIFIED of balloons, so I've seen the effects. Every birthday at the office was an exercise in torture for her. And yeah! You are exactly right of course about the "Yo soy" vs. "Soy". The backstory on that is.. it's an inside joke and on-camera "nod" to my in-laws, who are Hispanic. It's a literal representation of how bad my Spanish is, which they all make fun of ;)

Granted, they don't repeat prize tasks, and 'most valuable thing' sets the bar high, but I miss these high stakes prize tasks from the early seasons. I don't care if they don't really keep them, the high level of prize, gave a sense of stakes to the show for me. Mild Spoiler Later seasons this is MUCH less the case, imo, and I've heard some mention of the producers getting some prizes for the contestants. The lack of effort makes me sad. I don't necessarily mean prizes like Daisy's bottle of wine, route 1 is a choice and a good foil for creative prizes. Perhaps the meh prizes are just not my sense of humor, and a good story about a crap prize will win me over as well, many of the contestants are great bs'ers. :)

i think tim gave up to quickly on making fred talk in swedish, everything hits harder in your native language, saying supposetly embarrasing things in your second language is just not the same.....maybe its just me.
