Even those who don't like new Citroens should pay attention to this car. It has the potential to be very disruptive and put Citroen properly back on the automotive map.

Once you've been a citroen owner, you're always interested, often disappointed, but always hoping the magic will happen again

Excellent video👍 I’m 66 now (somehow😳 - I was only 26 the other day.) Back in the 70’s I had a 1972 Dyane - innovative for its ‘trafficlutch’, quite brilliant car. Then I had Ami estate, 2cv and then a few Citroën gap years. Next was a Xara estate, a BX and a Xantia. All great cars. Then more gap years…went through many FIATS, a Lancia Delta and an Alfa 156. Today I’m driving (from new) a February 2021 C3 Aircross, with the original unique face. Pre facelift. Yes it’s a Stellantis ‘clone’ but it has the quirks and character that the Peugeot 2008 and Opel/Vauxhall Moka just don’t have. Definite clues that Citroën was getting its mojo back. Oh and completely problem free, absolutely no issues so far. So…..this new eC3 looks absolutely fantastic, pretty much a design that only Citroën would do and, hopefully, have done well. Price and class leading comfort seem to be the buzz words🤞 I still have an Italian car. A 1970 FIAT 500, another automotive giant…..in a very small body. It might sit well with this new Citroën. I applaud Citroën and Stellantis for making it and I hope they’re rewarded with great sales figures.

I think it’s a real good move on their part.. unfortunately it won’t be making it to Australia.

It would be better off if the body style wasn't trying to be an SUV. That was the commerical prupose of the Indian market C3 to target affluent-inspired buyers that wanted SUV prestige. It also came as a 1.2l petrol, unfortunately. It could've be more aerodynamic given that importance for EVs. Hell, Citroën should grit its teeth and bring back the 2CV suspension and bring us a 21st century EV 2CV like what the 2000s C3 aspired.

First of all, I consider myself to be one of the fans of the old Citroën's like the Ami, GS(A), DS, Visa... CX and even the ones that weren't real Citroën's anymore but more Peugeot's with other clothing and badges like the BX, ZX... Yes I was instantly triggered by the first pictures of this new CR (EV and Petrol versions) because of the quirky looks and lightweight construction but also by the claimed Citroën comfort (to be seen). I don't care for posh, soft materials. I would chose lightness over posh-ness everyday but it must be well made (read assembled with regards to reliability, attention to detail and durability). Lotus said "add lightness" and that is what all car brands should do instead of making big, bulky and heavy cars packed with useless gimmicks and fake "safety" equipment. So yes, really eager to see one live and who knows, I might buy one (most probably a petrol one as electrification in Belgium is still more of a bad joke and soon I'll have to choose an EV anyway as next company car).

Stellantis harnessed the power of China for Citroën most likely. And yes, what's whit the soggy headliner? Are all of C5 X7 owners should be worried/prepared for this or did you had something to do with it?
@comcarclub

No, don't worry, my previous c5 tourer Was older and had more miles on it and it was fine. I think a little bubble appeared and my kids kept poking at it even though I told them to fucking stop. As soon as it gets even slightly big it all comes off

Worry about the steering rack instead and the Stellantis relationship shows as this is just the incoming Chinese cheaper cars with a Citroen badge... Citroen will never be Citroen again. I'm quite an audiophile and most of the legendary British hifi companies were bought up by the Chinese and they became more generic and less unique albeit whilst still claiming to do so. Comfortable Car Club could do a follow up video called 'Citroen is Dead', it would possibly 10x his views, he can include my thoughts if he wanted to, yes it is click baity but there is a wider context than Citroen which he could feel free to explore.... Mercedes, Lotus, Porsche etc. are all becoming less luxurious and more generic with electrification as the now boring uninteresting Teslas do 0-60 in 3 seconds. All of them have lost their uniqueness.

So I'm 2010 @ 400k Km(220k by me), It is leaking, but that's about it. Gave it a Goog, so I asume the worry is about when the spirits invade pump's PCB and it's starts to go wild? Is that the common thing or is there something else?

Soggy headliner on any car that lives outside is a fact of life in Australia, and I'd imagine in Portugal too. The glue/felt every manufacturer uses just doesn't like heat. It's not that hard or expensive to redo.

I like the droopy headliner, it looks like a posh lush nightclub and could be good for smuggling cigarettes. 😊 I thought we were birds of a feather but you succumbed to trying touchscreens and now in the process of accepting disgusting SUVs. Now you did say you hated them but I fundamentally hate them as the human sheep want them... But... But... These horrible things are a trend and trends change, that new 'Citroen' is totally non Citroen, you seek to find a way that it is a Citroen regarding price but the Chinese manufacturers will kill them at that game. That E-C3 non Citroen generic monstrosity is the polar opposite of the idealology of the original DS. Even the French and Citroen are accepting authoritarianism of electric cars only and a raise to 67 of the pension age. Present day electric cars eliminate cheap motoring A-B, one could argue it is an attack on socialism which I am not necessarily one of them BTW. Next summer I am planning on driving my 2012 2.0 HDi 163bhp to stay with my friend in Rennes, coincidentally where the car was built. I can fill the car up here in Belfast, drive to Rosslare, ferry to Brittany and all the way back and still have fuel left over. Recently seen a video on RU-vid where a guy tried a road trip and had to pay £60 charge fees for 200 mile range plus showed all the anxiety of planning charges, waiting on charge spots, getting into an argument in the queue etc. and he stated it completely ruined the idea of freedom going on a road trip. So there you go, the infrastructure and tech is not there yet, it could work for people who can charge at home and do short journeys but more and more are living in apartments now and cannot. I like the C5 X7 2012 but surprised you haven't heard of the steering rack nightmare and it is one where people just scrapped the car, mine started leaking and I'm trying to maintain it and stop it getting critical. I have no loyalty to Citroen or anything in general, loyalty is a mugs game no offense. Next time I could buy an Audi or whoever still makes cars and not horrible unaerodynamic bricks like that new E C3 I'd be embarrassed if my granny drove it (used to be Nissan Micra). Citroen DS... Thoughts... France in a car... Charles de Gaulle, pneumatic suspension, 3 hour family lunches, roadside camping at Tour De France, unique, intriguing, luxurious, unmistakable then and now. Citroen E-C3...? Orwell the prophet... Even the French succumbed to 1984 😮

Don't be hasty! I personally don't like the SUV looks, and I think I said as much in video, or at least, I think I showed my disdain for that particular way to style a car. I agree with a lot of what you say. EVs aren't there yet for people like us, we can get into our motorway supercruisers and do 600 or 700 miles non-stop. If there are people who get on with EVs and have a lifestyle that fits, fine by me, no skin off my nose. I just want Citroen to be in a position where they can make cars that don't pander to the market, but unfortunately, the way to that is to pander to the market. About the touchscreen, it really was a mistake, but the nerd in me couldn't resist. And now I have more rock-solid reasons to condemn touchscreens, so there's a silver lining to having installed one. And hey, I certainly hope this channel attracts more than Citroen loyalists, I myself also have a great love of Volvos. In fact for over 10 years I drove nothing but. Stay safe! PS yes, the steering rack is a constant subject of discussion, but it seems to affect RHD cars more. At least I hope so, if I can be so selfish

@@comcarclub Lol I didn't want to sound hasty, all in good fun, I never heard RHD models were more vulnerable? My C5 also had a severe coolant leak at the back of the engine and to inspect it and fix it properly means winching the engine out 🤔 Sealant put in it a year ago surprisingly worked... For now 5000 miles ago. Maybe less corrosion problems to the steering column/rack area in Portugal and other LHD countries are a reason due to no need for winter salt gritting and less rain perhaps? But the fact is Citroen used crappy engineering here in materials and design. Like I said I have read about so many C5 owners scrapping their car over this, reading French car forum you cannot get a good refurbished rack and the Ebay ones from Poland or somewhere are garbage. Fundamentally they used low grade carbon steel which corrodes, the seal is also garbage, water gets into the pinion, usually the low pressure seal housing corrodes, the seal starts leaking (probably what is happening on mine) and gets worse. Not helping the previous owner's mechanic put non LDS fluid into it, those supermarket Prestone power steering for all cars are a disaster for these Citroen cars. Since 4 months ago I topped up the power steering fluid (mine is steel springs so it would have been worse) with LDS and Liqui Moly sealer and it has been OK since, it probably still leaks but need to check the LDS level again. TBH if completely fails it could mean scrapping otherwise a brilliant C5 as you can't get a good replacement. There are horror stories on French Car Forums and RU-vid videos of it. Owners trying to rebuild and re-engineer their racks with generic o-rings and more .. nightmare. This is what will probably kill my C5 in the end... Advice from from French Car Forums is to apply boat grease to the crappy mild steel column where it enters the horizontal rack (which is a leaky design where the seal ring detaches and rides up the column anyway). As always in engineering cutting corners and cheaping out leads to failures. The irony is that the original marketing of my C5 was 'German' engineering and now that means F*** all too as BMW are as bad. 😭

@@nocturnal1970 I certainly hope the steering rack doesn't go, as anything slightly more expensive will be impossible for me to afford. As for the RHD thing, it's weird but there seems to be some truth to it. On a French site called fiches auto, there's a big database by model of common issues. The C5 steering rack just doesn't seem to occur that much, and this is a French website, and the French complain A LOT, especially amongst themselves about French cars
